I agree with a few other people. At first he literally had no idea which was which. That pretty much shows that there isnt much difference between them.
Hi I have two bottles that could easily enter this comparison those are Givenchy Play intense and Ted Lapidus Black Soul Imperial, both with a nice coffe note in there, maybe you could check it out those are awesome too.
good video.. very similar to my impressions as well. to me, MJ Legend and Rochas smelled similar.. while I could tell the difference with new haarlem off the bat.. sweet/syrupy smell.
Also, I've only done a quickie comparison with RM vs NH (from a 1-spritz of NH at the Bond counter at a local Saks), and I will do another more intense sampling of it when it gets colder again (the Nond lady gave me a free "bon-bon" of it - yay!), but I just *know* I'm gonna love it. Time to save up the loose change.
Great video my friend. I actually heard MJL is closer to Rochas Man Intense. I have never smelled Rochas Man Intense to figure out. Keep them coming. Gotta love the shootouts.
People need to know that MJ Legend was made 1st, Rochas Man 2nd, and New Haarlem 3rd. So we can say that Rochas Man and New Haarlem are clones of MJ Legend.
I've worn RM for a couple years now, and it's been one of my fave cold weather options. I also have some MJL, which I think is very similar to RM, minus some of the initial *blast) upfront that I get from RM (not sure what it is, or if anyone else gets it). That being said, I am really looking forward to getting me some NH this Fall/Winter and rock the real dilly (, yo).
Good review guys...BUT...like Daver said, it's the development that matters, and some might prefer Rochas, not just for price, but for purely developmental reasons as it reacts to one's body chemistry. And vice-versa. Michael Jordan would be purely for pricing, IMO.
Love these shootout videos. You always here that a certain fragrance smells like another fragrance, but it's better to see on camera what you guys really think, and if there is actually any real resemblance. I own Michael Jordan Legend and while it is cheap it's definitely, in my opinion, a "diamond in the rough" - as Marc would say!
Appreciate the comparison. Have tried RM (and HATE it), I own and enjoy MJL and haven't taken the chance to sniff NH mainly because of the price.. Honestly, the only draw back I find in MJL is that it is fairly linear throughout, but at $140-$160 for NH versus $20(at Ross) for MJL, Im very pleased. Gourmond frags arent going to command my wallet like others might. But at $20 I was happy to get a very wearable, pleasant scent.
Excellent comparison between the three fragrances. I've never tried New Haarlem (not a fan of the sweet gourmands) but I did purchase Rochas Man and MJL since they were so cheap. I do like Rochas Man, but it's a a bit sweet so my daughter mainly borrows my bottle, which is fine. I layered Rochas Man with Pure Wood and it was actually pretty nice. I love the opening and mid on MJL but only like the dry-down since it smells like coffee cake on my skin...and I'm not really into the sweet gourmands. Of course, MJL lasts 17-hours on my skin, which includes surviving a morning shower and then, mid-morning, kicking Dior Homme Sport 2012 to the curb so I smelled like coffee cake the rest of the day. Beast mode longevity on my skin.
Never sampled Roach Ass Man, smelt NH, I like. Givenchy Play Intense is in the same genre but distinctly different from NH, worth a sniff, if you haven't already tried it.
I love New Haarlem, especially because it's so sweet, powdery, and focused on being a gourmand. I tried Rochas Man (I hated it) ; it felt watered down and had lots of herbs like a fougere. Similar notes but totally different composition. MJ Legend is a little similar to New Haarlem but it just doesn't have the bakery feel to it.
Love this series. A very small comment is that, its interesting that you guys start evaluating the quality of the juice after knowing which is which. The fact that Jer could not tell at all which is which in the first is a pretty good indication that they are very similar.think it would be better to just ask Jer what he thinks of each frag for 5 minutes without telling him what is what.
hmmm hard to say. to me, this type of smell never came off as overly feminine per se, but i would say it is definitely worth a shot. in our New Haarlem review, Jer mentions that his wife really likes to wear that. so it's definitely worth a woman's time to try. and at that price, you can't beat it. :)
legend is a great college scent, rochas is a great night time scent for a date and NH men is better for clubbing because it has that etra X factor, which is why its a unisex scent because women would like to use it too oftentimes. Legend has nice development but it wont get u compliments its just a nice smell for the money and rochas does have some appeal........but with money and perfection NH makes both of the others smell like a cheap body spray when u get a better nose to revisit them
I hate Rochas Man. I bought a sample of New Haarlem. It smells so close to Rochas Man. Therefore, I hate it! If I had to chose between the two, I'd pick Rochas Man because of its raspberry note. For some strange reason, girls LOVE how New Haarlem smells on my skin. I wish I liked it too.
Underrated vid.
Yes! This is what I'm talking about. Great video once again fellas.
Another very similar is Body Heat (the orange grenade looking one)
I own all 3 and I actually like MJ legend the best.
Is it redundant to have MJ legend and Rochas man?
I agree with a few other people. At first he literally had no idea which was which. That pretty much shows that there isnt much difference between them.
Thumbs up guys! Very informative.
Do you see similarities with Givenchy Play Intense?
Hi

I always love these!
Like these shoot out vids, good job guys.

kinda like Aspen, Cool Water and GIT

I honestly see no comparison with Rochas Man & New Haarlem - RM is lavender, and NH is syrup.
Soon enough we're be seeing Jer at the opera.
hey, i heard lomani essential is simiiar with that 3 frags, and have a loong longevity is it true?
I
ladies fragrance by Stanley products legend of love

Top stuff, i might get MJL, sounds good juice.

found Rochas 50ml at TJ Maxx for $13 marked down from $18
Great 'episode'! :-)
Moral of the story, New Haarlem isn't worth the price when you can get something that smells just as good for 1/10th the price.
Rochas and Harlem copied MJ DNA just like Kobe copied MJ playing style!
Does rochas man smell like axe dark temptation
Kevin Chavolla No, rochas man smells a lot sweeter and much more edible, and a lot better
Guys, I'm waiting for Rochas review!
