I think they could use inspiration from the choreography of The Batman as well, the fast paced but clean fight scenes would fit well in the last ronin/tmnt themes
I want to see a faithful adaption, but there is one change I honestly wouldn't mind them making: switching around the deaths of Raphael and Leonardo. Make no mistake, The Last Ronin is amazing as it is, but does anybody else think that it should've been Raphael who died alongside Casey Jones rather than having Raph die fighting Karai? After all, Raph was the first turtle to befriend Casey, and it would've been poetic if they died together holding the line. Also, Leonardo fighting Karai to the death instead would fit from a character standpoint because she's usually portrayed as Leo's rival and occasional love interest. In other words, Leo is the turtle Karai has the most history with, so when she breaks the truce and apparently kills Splinter, Leo would feel fundamentally betrayed because he'd trusted her, giving him more reason to go berserk. It would be very striking to see because it would be very out of character for Leo to lose it like that. And finally, Leonardo being the first turtle to die would be very symbolic as it would leave them without their leader, eventually leading to the destruction of the team.
@@barbomb91 Not that Raph getting himself killed by flying off the handle and Leo dying holding the line to save his loved ones doesn't work as it does line up with the characters. I just think it would've been better from a story perspective if Raph and Leon's death were switched around.
For one they didn't go for Raphael because he's most often portrayed in tmnt media as the first turtle to die because of his arrogance hot headedness and too quick to jump into a fight without a plan and his anger keeps him from being a skilled fighter to reach his untapped potential. leonardo and donatello and even casey are the main characters that actually manages to kill off shredder the three times he came back to life in mirage continuity donatello got off a couple of hits on shredder and saved his brothers from shredders suicide bomb and leonardo landed the killing blow and wounded him. Michaelangelo is more skilled than raph because he's a prodigy if he put his mind and focus on training he could surpass leonardo and master splinter
@sgauden02 last ronin didn't makes sense from the jump because it wanted to be a finale of mirage but breaks the continuity of that canon because casie marie shouldn't be able to be born and shadow jones is missing also baxter never worked for the foot the last we saw him his brain was inside a robot and he infected april with nano bots and donatello kept his robot body in storage and killed him baxter should have no idea who the shredder or the foot is or fugitoid fugitoid shouldn't be on earth and the utroms and leatherhead is missing so is renet

I agree with ALL of your points! But... i dont think they will bring back any of the old cast, big names help sell movies. BUT i would also like a Theatrical version at the cinema AND later a nice long extended version on their streaming site, they make double the money and we get more of the movie they couldnt squeez into a theatrical movie.

For one christopher nolan doesn't care about comic books and I.P.'s he only cares about doing original projects in his body of works his batman movies declined with dark knight rises which was a terrible finale in the trilogy. batman begins wasn't even his movie that was Daren arronofsky and frank millers scrapped batman year one movie rewritten for nolan to direct his trademark isms onto and Sam rami didn't write the spiderman movies he just directed the films style with his evil dead flare on the spiderman movies which took the skeleton of rewritten scrapped ideas from the joe zitto & james cameron script and the fox kids 90s animated series episodes plot for plot and Sam Ramis dr strange and the multiverse of mid was terrible.
Less of a "want" and more of a curiosity of mine which can be applied both to the movie and the game: How are they gonna handle the Ronin's identity? Will it be upfront or a mystery like it was in the comics? If it's the latter, then...how? The Ronin's being followed by the spirits of the dead ninja turtles, it would be pretty difficult to keep who he is a secret now that voices are a part of the picture. I guess that they could either: A) Have it so that the voices of the 3 turtles are all distorted/jumbled and mashed together so that the audience can't tell who's talking, or B) Have the Ronin talk to them without them appearing or speaking until after his identity is revealed. It'll be interesting either way, I'm just wondering how they'll do it. Hell, if option B is chosen for the game, it would be a cool option to actually see the Turtles being there in a New Game + or something like that.
I've said for years, the number 1 thing I want is, whoever worked on Season 1 of the Netflix Daredevil, that's who I want to do the next live action Turtles project.
If they're concerned about runtime, film both films back to back. It makes more financial sense to set out on make a four to five hour film. Assuming production could find a way to blend practical suits and CGI may bring the budget down. I can't think of any specific names, but for the score I would look for a Japanese/anime composer. I'll forever be a sucker for Yuki Kajiura.🙈
I can see 2.25 hours being a solid time frame for everything. Flash backs for the turtles down fall which would be the easiest way to keep it in a digestible time length and yet keeping the story together with everything needed or perhaps just go through the events chronologically which will be harder because you’ll have to skip certain moments that were crucial for the weight of the situation
Theres no proper chronology in the last ronin and doesn't make sense narrative wise and isn't fair to the supporting characters or the antagonist villains of the story because you havent build up to them to even have a vendetta on the turtles. karai was just created during the 90s trilogy in the city at war story she was not an orroku she was a higher ranking foot jonin over shredder whos a chunin and picked to lead the american branch of the foot she gets involved with the turtles if you're trying to make this a revival of the 90s movies shredder doesn't have any biological children he's an incel and gets himself put in situations that should kill him like falling off a 30 ft brownstone into a garbage compactor and finishing himself off knocking a dock on top of himself. No mirage characters like baxter stockman purple dragons no fugitoid in this timeline how are they gonna pull it off if you fumbled their cinematic adventures to grounded t.c.r.i saga with bebop and rocksteady knockoffs and a time travel story with no renet or savanti romero????
You know in the book the Last Ronan got bigger than what we envisioned what he used to look like before his mutation. In the first movie and other adaptations he is smaller than his brothers, but this time he is bigger than his brothers because of his mutation. So this next movie, we should see him being that big
If they split it into two parts, they should do what the IT movies did and have the flashbacks take up the entirety of Part 1, and Part 2 being the present day. I didn't like how the Ronin's identity was revealed at the end of the first issue, so telling the events chronologically would make it more of a surprise to newcomers.
I agree with the old stuff because that's where I grew up on when I was younger I used to watch the movies every day because I had them and still have the old ones and of course the new ones but I believe the old ones are a little better

I never thought about this, but if they actually do the movie mainly from the flashback perspectives first where all the brothers are together and end on the culmination of the Last Ronin, we'll actually get a Turtles' movie and not just a Turtle remembering stuff. However, this means that a sequel must be set in order, and it must be based on the prequel of the #1 issue and onwards, where the Ronin is far from the city and finally embarks on his quest. But hope can get you so far in Hamada's hands.....
I'm 42 and have been a Ninja Turtles fan for over 35 years since the first cartoon series in the late 80's when I first watched it when I was a little kid and still to this day love the Ninja Turtles, I agree with all your points especially they need to get this Last Ronin movie right and not to Hollywoodize it, keep it dark and gritty and stick to the source material, don't try to change it, do the story justice and please the fans, the Turtle designs needs to go back to the 1990 film, I cannot wait for this movie but I have to keep my excitement in check so I won't be disappointed if they screw this movie up, like so many Turtles movies have after the 1990 movie which still is the finest Ninja Turtles piece of cinema we have ATM.

Out of all the things people want to connect this to the original film, whether its the director, Henson suits, or original actors returning, the thing I want more than any other is if they'd bring John Du Prez back as composer. It seems a longshot, but his score in that first film was so amazing. He could get dark and emotional when necessary and leaning into those aspects for Last Ronin would be perfect. Just look at how his themes were used in that fan-made Last Ronin short. SO much emotional power from that score alone.

I would like to see Guillermo Del Toro direct this, his experiences with creatures, special effects(both practical and CGI), action, R rating and comic book movies proves he can do this story justice.

In my opinion, they could: 1. Still do Mocap, but make them look faithful to the 90's designs. 2. Bringing back Alan Ritchson as Raphel or the Last Ronin. ( I know he didn't have a good experience when he was filming the Bayverse Turtles, but I feel like he has the voice for it, even if he's not doing mocap.) 3. Both Judith and Paige still look amazing for their age, whoever they bring back as April, I'm fine with.

I think definitely keep to the original 'The Last Ronin' story, minimize the CGI. I don't think they should look like the turtles in the original 90's movie though. They should look bigger, leaner and edgy like in the comic. I just hope they don't mess it up.

I hope they don't change Which Brother Ronin is. When you find out at the end of the first book. It's heartbreaking and impactful. It struck a cord with me. I want them to use the suits from the 90's and some CGI for the fighting stuff. I hope they keep the gore and make this a real Ninja Turtles 3... That time traveling one really sucked. So did the ones from Michael Bay... Make it like the 90's and some cgi to help it along. If they stick to the story of the books and keep the gore at that level That would be awesome. I want to see a faithful adaption, but there is one change I honestly wouldn't mind them making: switching around the deaths of Raphael and Leonardo.
Make no mistake, The Last Ronin is amazing as it is, but does anybody else think that it should've been Raphael who died alongside Casey Jones rather than having Raph die fighting Karai? After all, Raph was the first turtle to befriend Casey, and it would've been poetic if they died together holding the line.
Also, Leonardo fighting Karai to the death instead would fit from a character standpoint because she's usually portrayed as Leo's rival and occasional love interest. In other words, Leo is the turtle Karai has the most history with, so when she breaks the truce and apparently kills Splinter, Leo would feel fundamentally betrayed because he'd trusted her, giving him more reason to go berserk. It would be very striking to see because it would be very out of character for Leo to lose it like that. And finally, Leonardo being the first turtle to die would be very symbolic as it would leave them without their leader, eventually leading to the destruction of the team.
Agree. It felt weird for me to see Leo instead of Ralph with Casey. And agree about the dramatic twist of Leo losing it and being the first killed.
@@barbomb91 Not that Raph getting himself killed by flying off the handle and Leo dying holding the line to save his loved ones doesn't work as it does line up with the characters. I just think it would've been better from a story perspective if Raph and Leon's death were switched around.
For one they didn't go for Raphael because he's most often portrayed in tmnt media as the first turtle to die because of his arrogance hot headedness and too quick to jump into a fight without a plan and his anger keeps him from being a skilled fighter to reach his untapped potential. leonardo and donatello and even casey are the main characters that actually manages to kill off shredder the three times he came back to life in mirage continuity donatello got off a couple of hits on shredder and saved his brothers from shredders suicide bomb and leonardo landed the killing blow and wounded him. Michaelangelo is more skilled than raph because he's a prodigy if he put his mind and focus on training he could surpass leonardo and master splinter

I agree with ALL of your points! But... i dont think they will bring back any of the old cast, big names help sell movies. BUT i would also like a Theatrical version at the cinema AND later a nice long extended version on their streaming site, they make double the money and we get more of the movie they couldnt squeez into a theatrical movie.
Honestly they can mix the two types together. Make you rubber suits, but do the faces in CGI, like Marvel did.
I would love to see great writers and directors like Nolan, and Raimi to take on TMNT The Last Ronin and on top of that Zack Snyder's Cinematography method.
Or you can just give it to an up and coming director whose vision fits the story.
For one christopher nolan doesn't care about comic books and I.P.'s he only cares about doing original projects in his body of works his batman movies declined with dark knight rises which was a terrible finale in the trilogy. batman begins wasn't even his movie that was Daren arronofsky and frank millers scrapped batman year one movie rewritten for nolan to direct his trademark isms onto and Sam rami didn't write the spiderman movies he just directed the films style with his evil dead flare on the spiderman movies which took the skeleton of rewritten scrapped ideas from the joe zitto & james cameron script and the fox kids 90s animated series episodes plot for plot and Sam Ramis dr strange and the multiverse of mid was terrible.
Less of a "want" and more of a curiosity of mine which can be applied both to the movie and the game:
How are they gonna handle the Ronin's identity?
Will it be upfront or a mystery like it was in the comics?
If it's the latter, then...how?
The Ronin's being followed by the spirits of the dead ninja turtles, it would be pretty difficult to keep who he is a secret now that voices are a part of the picture.
I guess that they could either:
A) Have it so that the voices of the 3 turtles are all distorted/jumbled and mashed together so that the audience can't tell who's talking, or
B) Have the Ronin talk to them without them appearing or speaking until after his identity is revealed.
It'll be interesting either way, I'm just wondering how they'll do it.
Hell, if option B is chosen for the game, it would be a cool option to actually see the Turtles being there in a New Game + or something like that.
I've said for years, the number 1 thing I want is, whoever worked on Season 1 of the Netflix Daredevil, that's who I want to do the next live action Turtles project.
If they're concerned about runtime, film both films back to back. It makes more financial sense to set out on make a four to five hour film. Assuming production could find a way to blend practical suits and CGI may bring the budget down. I can't think of any specific names, but for the score I would look for a Japanese/anime composer. I'll forever be a sucker for Yuki Kajiura.🙈
I can see 2.25 hours being a solid time frame for everything. Flash backs for the turtles down fall which would be the easiest way to keep it in a digestible time length and yet keeping the story together with everything needed or perhaps just go through the events chronologically which will be harder because you’ll have to skip certain moments that were crucial for the weight of the situation
Theres no proper chronology in the last ronin and doesn't make sense narrative wise and isn't fair to the supporting characters or the antagonist villains of the story because you havent build up to them to even have a vendetta on the turtles. karai was just created during the 90s trilogy in the city at war story she was not an orroku she was a higher ranking foot jonin over shredder whos a chunin and picked to lead the american branch of the foot she gets involved with the turtles if you're trying to make this a revival of the 90s movies shredder doesn't have any biological children he's an incel and gets himself put in situations that should kill him like falling off a 30 ft brownstone into a garbage compactor and finishing himself off knocking a dock on top of himself. No mirage characters like baxter stockman purple dragons no fugitoid in this timeline how are they gonna pull it off if you fumbled their cinematic adventures to grounded t.c.r.i saga with bebop and rocksteady knockoffs and a time travel story with no renet or savanti romero????

You know in the book the Last Ronan got bigger than what we envisioned what he used to look like before his mutation. In the first movie and other adaptations he is smaller than his brothers, but this time he is bigger than his brothers because of his mutation. So this next movie, we should see him being that big
If they split it into two parts, they should do what the IT movies did and have the flashbacks take up the entirety of Part 1, and Part 2 being the present day. I didn't like how the Ronin's identity was revealed at the end of the first issue, so telling the events chronologically would make it more of a surprise to newcomers.
I agree with the old stuff because that's where I grew up on when I was younger I used to watch the movies every day because I had them and still have the old ones and of course the new ones but I believe the old ones are a little better
Pretty sure you covered it. I would like to see some fights like on the show "Reacher", cause Alan Ritchson was a Turtle, and the action scenes are pretty damn good and very believable.

I never thought about this, but if they actually do the movie mainly from the flashback perspectives first where all the brothers are together and end on the culmination of the Last Ronin, we'll actually get a Turtles' movie and not just a Turtle remembering stuff. However, this means that a sequel must be set in order, and it must be based on the prequel of the #1 issue and onwards, where the Ronin is far from the city and finally embarks on his quest. But hope can get you so far in Hamada's hands.....

I'm 42 and have been a Ninja Turtles fan for over 35 years since the first cartoon series in the late 80's when I first watched it when I was a little kid and still to this day love the Ninja Turtles, I agree with all your points especially they need to get this Last Ronin movie right and not to Hollywoodize it, keep it dark and gritty and stick to the source material, don't try to change it, do the story justice and please the fans, the Turtle designs needs to go back to the 1990 film, I cannot wait for this movie but I have to keep my excitement in check so I won't be disappointed if they screw this movie up, like so many Turtles movies have after the 1990 movie which still is the finest Ninja Turtles piece of cinema we have ATM.

Out of all the things people want to connect this to the original film, whether its the director, Henson suits, or original actors returning, the thing I want more than any other is if they'd bring John Du Prez back as composer. It seems a longshot, but his score in that first film was so amazing. He could get dark and emotional when necessary and leaning into those aspects for Last Ronin would be perfect. Just look at how his themes were used in that fan-made Last Ronin short. SO much emotional power from that score alone.

The first TMNT movie was stellar because they were independent, had a great vision but no studio wanted to help them out. New Line Cinema is the GOAT for this, I’m surprised Lion’s Gate didn’t help them since they help just about anyone with filming (Mr jingles first thing that comes to mind)

A Live-Action Last Ronin Movie would prove that a Dark Live-Action TMNT Movie focusing on the 4 turtles including Raphael, Michelangelo, Donatello, and Leonardo would work.
Actually a faithful mirage tmnt movie would prove a dark tmnt would work in film because you have characters that were never given a proper portrayal or depiction because of studio mandated o.c. characters and incorporating in demand for the 1987 cartoon elements and characters. I saw Judith Hoag at a pop culture convention in OKC last month. She still looks so incredible. She has aged very nicely and would be super foxy as an older April.
Screw her, she whined that the 1st movie had too much violence and tried to get them to remove it. Luckily, no one at that time listened to her. She doesn't deserve to be in an R rated turtles film.

Maybe The Last Ronin can be a Netflix movie, if it's possible. Or The Last Ronin Netflix animated mini-series could work. I love The Last Ronin comic and I feel sorry for Mikey & his loved ones. Also, Flashbacks involving Mikey's innocent, happier times with his loved ones should happen too.

In my opinion, they could:
1. Still do Mocap, but make them look faithful to the 90's designs.
2. Bringing back Alan Ritchson as Raphel or the Last Ronin. ( I know he didn't have a good experience when he was filming the Bayverse Turtles, but I feel like he has the voice for it, even if he's not doing mocap.)
3. Both Judith and Paige still look amazing for their age, whoever they bring back as April, I'm fine with.

I think definitely keep to the original 'The Last Ronin' story, minimize the CGI. I don't think they should look like the turtles in the original 90's movie though. They should look bigger, leaner and edgy like in the comic. I just hope they don't mess it up.

Shredder in the movies can't have karai as a daughter because he's a lonely incel karai just made her debut in the mirage comics the same year the movie dropped as the last time eastman and laird worked together on the comics shes unrelated to the Orroku Brothers ( in the movie their a composite *) and only came to NYC to disband the american branch in the chaos left in the wake of shredder dying for a 2nd time and her wound up losing a daughter amai in the cross fire to the foot elite and making a truce with the turtles to end the cycle of revenge between the foot and the turtles / hamatos. In the movies, karai has never been shown in that city at war story line she's just been a forgettable hench woman for shredder or max winters and nothing more.
The turtles themselves never actually accomplished their main purpose of practicing ninja to kill shredder for splinter and avenge their surrogate rat fathers owner/ master hamato yoshi and his wife tang shen honor. they don't even know who shredder is or his identity as orroku saki and their ninjitsu training was not tainted by splinters personal vendetta and splinter never actively looks for him. he just direct his sons to practice their skills in stopping wayward teens robbing old people and mom and pop stores inventory, the turtles get beat down by tatsus foot of awkward teens who suck as fighting aswell and fail rescuing their own father from being kidnapped. it takes an o.c. traitor character that home wrecked aprils apartment sabotage their lair the 99% of the turtles are goofy they break out in choreographed dance numbers, leonardo Michaelangelo and donatello are jokesters with leonardo only development is being emo and bickers with raph and Raphael is the only turtle with development stealing leonardos canon event which is condensed and watered down.

I want them to use the suits from the 90's and some CGI for the fighting stuff. I hope they keep the gore and make this a real Ninja Turtles 3... That time traveling one really sucked. So did the ones from Michael Bay... Make it like the 90's and some cgi to help it along. If they stick to the story of the books and keep the gore at that level That would be awesome. Keep in mind this isn't a children's Ninja Turtles story This is for Kids that grew up reading and watching ninja turtles and are now adults.
