- This is a fairly short video compilation of clips of Class 08s in action on the main line, filmed between 1988 and 1989.
As with the other compilations, these clips have already been posted to the channel, as part of their respective dated video clips.
I was a train spotter in the 70s and spent many days chasing Gronks round the country 🤣 Living in Manchester we had lots of them and a wee trip to Tinsley I saw all three class 13s 👍🏻 I think there was about 1100 Gronks when I was spotting and I’d have to look in my old Ian Allen books too see how many I saw 👀 Great video with good memories 👍🏻
Thanks, wish I’d videoed more, but I suppose most spotters, I took them for granted ☹️. Thanks for commenting 👍😊
Great compilation. Some model railways are like watching paint dry. This shows how fast these locos ran when doing trip workings.
The shot at 4.40 takes me back, when we had a drawback Loco on the coal trains to drag them from The Arpley Branch around to Latchford to save Running Round because it was that Busy with Coal Trains for Fiddlers Ferry. Later on they would use a class 31.
Glad it brought back memories - sharing and promoting memories is what my channel is all about. 👍😊
Jeez that mgr one looked like it was doing about 50!
😅 "some named ones this side" 😂
Ah, yes, David; a reference to the Spotter Special rail tour in 1980. If only I had had a video camera back in those days eh?! Geoff.
