I found you during the pandemic. I realized how under equipped I was during an ammo shortage and decided to buy reloading equipment. I hoarded it and stored it until I bought a house and returned to watching all your videos for the last several months. You've been an outstanding source of education and entertainment. Keep going at whatever pace you want.
4years ago I had never reloaded a round in my life. Now with your tutorials I load 9mm, 6.8spc,300blackout, 556/223,308 and 6.5creedmoor. You taught me a life skill my own father couldn't teach me. Thank you sir
You're easily my fav reloading channel. Down to earth, realistic, and on an economic level I can relate to. You've got a gift in your ability to talk and explain what your doing. I started reloading close to 20 years ago, and constantly learn new things. Keep up the quality, and don't worry so much about the quantity.
I had a simular issue with a .308 a few years back the it would not group under a inch no matter what I would do. It was very frustrating. I ended up getting the wheeler bore lapping kit it, comes with 3 different grits and you coat the bullets. It helped a ton with it now shoots 1/2 pretty consistent. The only down side it will eat the throat a little but for me this wasn't a issue, because I planned on shooting 175's at long distance. So having the longer distance to seat the bullets provided a bit more case capacity and some better powder choices. Hope this helps you out.
I leave for the army this coming Sunday (23rd oct) and oh boy am I going to miss these videos Love reloading and giving it up for 6 months during training is really a kick in the pants You’ve been a huge blessing when it comes to knowledge and helping me get started and keep all my digits I look forward to coming home and seeing the build up of your videos (and I’m getting married in the spring so that tell you something!) Have a good time Johnny and thanks for the amazing content!
Johnny, try this, you have nothing to lose. Get yourself a piece of red scotchbrite pad and split it to make it thinner. Wrap it around a nylon .308 bore brush, add a small amount of non-imbedding JB bore paste and take 50 passes down the bore from chamber to muzzle. DO NOT pull the brush back through the bore. Take the brush off at the muzzle and pull the rod back through. Then re-install the brush and go back in to the muzzle. It's tedious removing the brush after every pass, but it MAY save the barrel. If that doesn't work, a new barrel is probably in order. I believe Tikka barrels are hammer-forged, and generally very good. Good Luck.
I started reloading over 50 years ago and can honestly say that...if I ran across a still learning or aspiring reloader... you would be the first U-tube channel that I would recommend! You definitely have a gift that few others have and you are definitely going to be missed! Time consuming technical projects can begin to seemingly own you! Take your time and figure out any changes that you can make that will streamline (simplify) things and decide which way that you want to go... and know that, either way, you made a difference! Take care and keep your powder dry!
Been almost 2 years since I actively reloaded anything. LRPs are a big hold up and life stuff. The desire has kind of just dried up. One day I will be back at it. Still watch all your videos and they are great.
Schedules are a double edged sword in that they keep you working, but they can also lead to burn out and rushed projects that you aren't proud to release as your product. That will start a cycle of negativity and stagnation. The schedule can be more of a guide line than a rule set in stone, "must put something out no matter what". If you aren't happy with the project, take the time to make it right, not "right now". Thanks for your hard work and dedication to the hobby, Mr.Bench.
I found you on your episode of the stuck case removal with a grease gun. Mine was stuck in a 223 die and it still helped. After watching I subscribed immediately. Look forward to yours like a lot of people but don't expect anyone to post when I want them too. Keep em comin, but at your pace. I'll watch em...
Love your honesty, Shannon - you make great content and it needs to go at your speed, not anyone else's. I watch both your reloading stuff and the farm. I've enjoyed both a lot. Keep up the good work and focus on making stuff you are proud of!
Never felt short changed about your videos at all man. You rock! I have went from knowing nothing about reloading 2 years ago to knowing so much from watching your videos on reloading. You have heled me more than any other channel out there. Gotta stay positive. You do what interests you otherwise you get burned out a bit too. Again, thank you for all the content!
I started watching because you made the best 3000BLK videos! I was a little saddened by the extended breaks, but stayed subscribed. I've been grateful for the new content, but understand that interest ebbs and flows. To be honest, I've done very little reloading in the last few years, but I love the knowledge that you impart. I hope to pick it up again when I have more time in...15 years... Appreciate the updates and honesty!
Hello Shannon nice to hear that you feeling better, you helped many People out there with reloading stuff and i learned alot of Things from your Channel. You brought me back to Reloading after my first attemptes 15 Years ago with much less knowledge, the Reloading Press from my Dad (Rockchucker 2) was happy that somebody used it again after this long Years 😀 and now with all your content and that of BoltActionReloading my Ammo is better than it ever was so keep up the good Work if it is on a shedule or not is not relevant for me the only Thing we want is good Videos from you and when you are happy we are too cause the happier you are the better the Videos and Quality are Thanks a lot
Would much rather you put out a good quality video at you own pace than get burnt out from stressing and rushing to get a video out on a set schedule. Appreciate what you do brother. Metroid dread is sick, you make me want to do another play through now haha.
@@JohnnysReloadingBench yea, the first run i did i actually did for 100%. Some of the dash puzzles were a real bastard, but my ocd was satisfied in the end! Love the metroid series.
Started with your videos on 300 blk been around for a minute. No rush needed brother. Do what you love and at your own time. Everything I touch I make my big project too and it gets overwhelming at times trying to hit a deadline. Really enjoy your content put it out when it's right for you.
We all go through ebbs and flows. I haven’t reloaded or done much shooting lately myself. Sometimes the family, work, and other life things get in the way. However, it’s good to have things like like minded people on TH-cam to get you motivated or back into the hobby. Also hey like you pointed out too sometimes we have other hobbies too. Anyway it’s all good and keep up the good work!
Yep. The difference between a job, and a profession. Profession is something we do for money, and enjoy. A job is....a job. Don't let the Youtubaverse affect what you do in your life daily. Many people out here appreciate what you do. Thank You 🙂
Just a friendly suggestion. A 5-10 minute “this is what I’m working on” video on the weeks when a full video isn’t coming would go a long way for those of us that remember the long dry spells. But even if you don’t we really appreciate all that you do and love the content.
All new factory barrels get Tubbs Final Finish to get those reaming grooves smoothed out on the projectile to rifling transition. Strangly enough, it did great at eliminating flyers. Also, makes cleaning a ton easier. I use the loaded abrasive ammunition because I don't want to jack up my seating dies.
I reload, and have been for a very long time. I found you randomly one day and haven't stopped watching. I've learned quite a bit, that I didn't even know I didn't know. But mostly I liked your personality and honesty. You come across like a dude just enjoying his hobbies and sharing his knowledge while doing his best to be a good dude. Just keep on making videos that you want to make, and we will keep watching em. Thank you for all the time and thought you put out.
No worries sir. I found you before covid. Just got my own reloading setup, and find myself pulling up those old videos a lot. Now if I could just find some dang primers. LOL
Brother I've been subd for awhile now I enjoy anything anytime you put out I know I'm just 1 but I'll be here till the end appreciate your work thank you for all you do
Hey, even an update video on the progress of your projects like this is interesting. I found your videos during the pandemic. I mostly started reloading out of boredom and looking for a hobby. Lots of good info to keep me from blowing my face off. No fear mongering from you. Thank you sir
Shannon......thank you for helping me get started in reloading. I learned a ton of priceless info from your content. Your new opinion on "shortages" however, i cannot even listen to. The world is so unstable and the price of everything has doubled. A guy would have to be blind to think he could count on stores to just keep providing. Its happening man. Dont prioritize your youtube content over sustainability.
Don't stress out. Feel free to vent whatever you need to. I enjoy every bit of the content you put out. Looking foward to anything you put out. I can always watch them again until you have new stuff.
Don't overlook Iosso Bore Cleaner paste for cleaning lead. I tried it out the other day on a vintage 22lr and it worked like a champ cleaning that barrel! I ran a couple wet patches of Iosso Triple Action through the bore first. Then I took a Iosso blue bore brush with the paste applied to it and ran about 20 strokes back and forth. Then patched it out and it took every bit of fouling out. It shines now! I've used everything you've used in this video except for the Lead Out. Those products work great too but I think the Iosso has worked better and easier for me. And your channel is great man! I've been a long time subscriber. Keep being you man!
Brother, thank you for everything. I dont know what i would do without you, period. Started reloading 15y ago on a fly with zero knowledge. failed. Got back into it right before "crazy" because of your videos. So im forever grateful. Its such a perishable art.
Hay man, we all get burned out every now and again. For what it's worth, dont feel pressed to crank out videos (please dont take month long breaks again)I ran across your channel a couple years ago and I was hooked. Supper entertaining and a great resource and guidance. Please keep up the great work and have a good time playing games. I will probably start playing some here in a few weeks as well.
I really felt what you said about the past two years. Ironically, while I used to enjoy growing a little of my own food (at my age, more as a hobby than anything sufficient to live on) I found that I gradually lost interest in that and a lot of other things that used to seem important. Maybe it was the sense of isolation, maybe the feeling that I could not significantly change what was going on around me, but I just lost interest. By contrast, your reaction seems a very healthy response. I would really not be concerned if you now feel drawn to a different pattern, a rearrangement of schedules and priorities. I came upon your channel only very recently, so I've seen a compressed version of your years of work, but I've been impressed by your steady, patient, logical and meticulous approach to problem solving. We all have our different coping mechanisms and it seems to me you have done very well, and that you should continue to follow your instincts as to your time going forward. Best wishes!
You sound a lot healthier lately man, like you're in a good mental space and I love it. Please keep doing videos that interest you - that's what makes for an interesting video to watch!
You put out some great information and things that have kept me from making certain mistakes, thank you. You never let me down and you kept me searching for better on my bench. As for you getting into farming, pigs, chickens and gardening thats awesome and good for you. Those things are going to come in very handy soon enough. You make sure to take care of your family first. Yes your videos are great and full of a ton of information that personally has helped me Greatly. We will keep looking forward to your next video. Hey haven't seen anything with superformance powder!!! It would be great to see a video or 3 of a few cartridges 6mm rem, 308 and maybe 25-06 and just see if it really does perform as well or better then other powders.
I definitely lost my mind and went right down the rabbit hole of .22LR. Chasing the 1 hole 5 shot group consumed me. I went heavy into .22LR in part because I didn't want to eat in to my supply of bullets and primers for centerfire. Awesome video! Thanks!
That barrel is a manufacturing defect. Looks like stress fractures from something being on the mandrel when they forged the barrel around it. This is one of the examples of why cut-rifled barrels are usually more accurate than hammer forged. Forged lasts longer but cut-rifled/button-rifled barrels generally shoot better.
I found you when I was looking for more ideas on 300 blackout, then you did some grendel and I just stayed to see what you would do next. I have loved the chickens, and I am still waiting to see how the pigs end up. So yea, your stuck with me now lol!
I live in Australia and had a hard time finding 6.5 factory ammo so I had to learn to reload and you were a great resource. But now I stay to escape the worlds issues and get nerdy about my hobby so Thankyou
I finally get to say, with a reason, Johnny, get the lead out! 1) any video you give us is going to be worth watching, so long as you don't blow your face off. 2) on your shot shell reloading series (new), which press are you going to use? I've tried my hand at it and the final result was less than impressive, because the shells just didn't crimp right. I know I'm doing something wrong, but I'm just not seeing 'how to' videos about press adjustment like you do for rifle & pistol. 3) the .223 series will continue when you're ready for it.
JRB, there are three common methods of barrel rifling. Cut, forged, button. It is very common on button rifled barrels to see those brick like marks. Savage is famous for their cheese grater barrels and also that they usually shoot great. Tikka says they use hammer forged barrels so your case is mysterious. Bore scope your Savage barrel and you should see what I mean.
Actually a good video, taking on growing your own is a major task at best and worth it. What you’re planning for the next few videos I’m looking forward to. I’m doing a major cleaning on all my centerfire rifles and I’m using Boretech carbon and copper remover, then using Kroil, JB Paste and Brightener. It was a mistake getting a borescope, it shows everything and also looking forward to the 308 videos. Only problem so far you’ve cost me a fortune in dies, two Mighty Armory sizing dies and two Redding Micrometer seating dies. Once I used them for my .223 I couldn’t use a regular set on my 308s, so thanks Johnny 😂 Anyway, don’t worry about your schedule, we’ll watch them when you get done.
You are always great and I don’t think you said anything we all haven’t thought about at some point lately crazy world and all. You do you and I’ll watch when you post 👍
Thanks you for being a voice of reason and not posting yet another video pushing the next panic buying of toilet paper, ammo, etc. Looking forward to your venture into shot shell reloading.
Love all your videos, been watching for years, since way before covid. Even if you didn't have the footage for a well thought out video, I'd even watch the chats, I used to listen to them on my drive to work. All in all, i really appreciate the information you share and you bringing us along as you discover more about this passion/hobby. It's the little things in life that can keep us sane 👍
Late to comment, but I love your channel. Do this thing your way, man. No one else does it better. About the Tikka, I hope she starts shooting. But if it doesn't, maybe rebarrel into 7mm08. I think this is a most underappreciated caliber but the most versatile.
Best reloading channel. Period. As much as I want a new one hour video every day, I completely understand that this isn’t your life. You do you man! Good luck with Metroid. That game is way fun!
I really appreciate the check-in/update. If you do decide to revise your release schedule, I would still appreciate a periodic video like this one just to know you're still there and have stuff in the works. Keep up the good work.
Watched this video then went and got me a borescope off amazon for pretty cheap. Several things happened shortly afterwards. I was horrified at how dirty my "clean" barrels were and I saw a wide variety of issues cleaning ALL of them. In that time I tried a different thing on each barrel to gauge its effectiveness and have a new routine for heavily fouled barrels like you are seeing. 1. Use patchout like you did, do it 2x to break up the alloy of lead a bit. The accelerator helps a ton here 2. Run a patch of alchohol or acetone to get the patch out out. 3. Run 3x wet patches of free all (silver can, get it from autozone) let it soak 8-24 hours 4. Spritz in more free all then use JB 5. Clean bore out of JB compound and inspect Last 2 I did with this were done under a day, and now look new. Less than 10% of the effort it took with everything else before landing on this. Free all breaks down nitrocellulose, and wicks under the lead fouling creating a hydraulic action letting the jb scrub it off in a delaminating fashion.
As much as I enjoy watching your videos, I surely agree with the idea that the videos can’t be put on a schedule. It is more important that you make meaningful content. In the meantime we can just watch reruns. Looking forward to the 3 videos you have planned.
Kroll oil soak for about an hour, then take a copper chore boy copper scrubber pad and cut it up and take the copper strands (make sure when you get the chore boy it's pure copper) and wrap them around a bronze bore brush and run it down the bore. Use this method on my 45-70s and works great. You can also get a lewis lead remover. Good luck.
That "no lead" is hands down the best lead remover on the market. Especially if you shoot alot of cast/pc bullets n high volume pistol shooting. That stuff makes life soooo much easier. Manufacturer does say to fallow it with "wipe out" to nutralize it, but worth every cent.
Just a suggestion for the Tikka. I know a lot of guys shoot "free recoil" now. However, my Tikka T3 laminated in .300 win mag, and my fathers T3 in 25-06 in the Tupperware stock shoot better "traditional" (pulled into shoulder with trigger hand and at forend) I personally add light pressure downward on the forward scope ring instead of pulling back/down on the forend. The .300 shoots better this way in both the original and in the fiberglass stock it has now. Groups went from 1.5" down to 5/8" MAX using the same factory ammo on that gun. The 25-06 went from 2.5" down to 3/4". I have found multiple friends Tikkas that also shot much better using this method. Food for thought. Looking forward to the next video.
Damn man I get it. I started reloading shotshells then went to metallic cartridges going on four years now. Your channel helps me out a lot. I grew up on a farm in Western Kentucky and still keep on with what my grandparents taught me. (Depression era) I let a lot of Kentucky Wonders go to seed this year. I don’t know how it would work but I can send you a mess. Also Clay Busters aren’t that far away from me, which is cool.
JRB… I started reloading shotgun last winter. Coming from metallic cartridge reloading it was a bit confusing at first. Now I have to say that I enjoy reloading shot shells as much as any type of reloading. Shotgun shooting is just a ton of fun. I’ve really enjoyed bird hunting and clay shooting over the last couple of years. I actually asked a while back if you have ever considered it. I’m very glad to see some shotgun loading on your channel. Good luck. Can’t wait!
@@bannedbycommieyoutube5time920 There are some differences, but they shouldn't confuse you. Metallic cartridges usually don't have wads, or multiple projectiles, and the set ups for measuring powder and shot are different, but it's not that complicated.
I appreciate all of your projects. I know you don't want to just crank out a video for the sake of it, but sometimes when you have so many long projects going on it helps to crank out something easy just for a sense of accomplishment. If you ever want an easy video, I will never get tired of watching you fire Grandpa's wonder guns like the bolt action .223 or the 6mm. Everyone likes to see you shoot tiny groups. But the projects are definitely appreciated. Also still waiting on an in-depth review of the Frankford Arsenal universal bullet seating die. I think you used it once or twice, but not much.
Hey look, I found you before the pandemic when I got back into reloading after 20+ yrs of not doing it. I wanted to see what others were doing and you helped me get going again. I enjoy your videos and you teach me or remind me of things that I should know. I get your notification and watch the video when I can. If I don't get one I look at your channel, so either way I will be there WHEN the video comes out on what ever day it comes out and I would rather have you feel good about what you produce and give us a good video then sit through so-so videos that aren't interesting. That drives viewers away. So do your best and be comforted that we your loyal fans will be here when they are ready.
Johnny please keep doing what you are doing! We come here for quality content and information. Don't start rushing crappy vids out like other channels! I'm especially excited for the shotgun reloading!
This community is here for you. All of us really care about what you have to say and look up to you for guidance. I will miss the Sunday videos but I would rather watch a video that you actually want to make. You’ve taught me more than words can explain and I feel like an expert even though I haven’t even started my own reloading journey. This community is behind you. Keep up the good work and don’t blow your face off.
Regarding the barrel... Get the lead out then use felt pellets with WhiteDiamond metal polish. You can get it at most auto stores, Wal-Mart in the auto section, and I think Homedepot had it in the cleaning products area. You'll find this cuts a lot faster than JB, and leaves a glassy smooth surface. Follow up with favorite cleaning solution and some patches, then maybe some carnuba wax. The carnuba works well in airguns, not sure of the value in a firearm. Had a barrel far worse than that on my Benjamin Bulldog, finally ended up replacing the barrel because I spent so much time on it that it opened up about 0.001. That was a lot like of hours trying to get similar flaws out. Everyone should buy one of these Teslong scopes, helps see problems and in the case of things like the Sig p322 and their leading problems, helps keep manufacturers honest. The Whitediamond polish is good for other things too. Polished up some brass pieces before nickel plating them for a muzzleloader I'm building. Also polished the case hardened bits of the hammer (lock) before nickel plate. Polished the nickel plate after the plating process too. For as fast as it cuts steel, I'm surprised how well it shines other metals. Now my go to product to treat new airgun barrels when they are less than stellar.
Right there with you. Never have been able to load and test, and edit videos on a schedule. There’s always something else that grabs my interest and takes up time. But I always come back to reloading, and seem to learn more and more each time.
Me getting a Johnny's reloading alert my pocket book on edge. Watched the video now not only can I see into the 7th dimension of reloading but also in a zen state Great video stay frosty
Johnny everybody is right there with you and understands. If you don't put out a new video big deal. I watched 20+ hrs of your old videos all weekend long. There is so much useful information on your channel that you should never feel like you have to do anything. I know I love when a new video is unloaded but honestly I never even realized you were on a weekly schedule. Don't rush anything, great content can't be rushed.
Here's the thing, you make interesting and entertaining videos with a good vibe, period. I started watching you for reloading, but I found I enjoyed your chicken and pig content, and the video game stuff. I think the key for me is that when you are interested in what you are making a video for, I end up finding it interesting and entertaining. I'd rather see videos that you care about, and not quantity. Looking forward to more chicken videos, and the shotgun reloading stuff especially. Keep up the great work.
JRB - I'd like to chamber a barrel for you, no charge. You've never had a custom barrel on the channel! - I have all kinds of 308 and 223 reamers - I'm in KY so we can work something out...
That barrel would be a good candidate to try Dyna Bore Coat and see if you can get an improvement on future cleaning requirements. I've used it on several of my barrels and it makes cleaning easier and required less often.
Don't feel bad. I can't speak for everybody, but I'd rather see you post videos you're happy with when you feel like they're ready, than feeling rushed to post content for the sake of keeping a schedule.
I think you are going to like reloading shotgun shells, it’s so drastically different than loading metallic that it makes an excellent change of pace when you need to walk away from A tedious reloading/gun project and do something different. I was screwing around loading .690 round balls in 12ga and 10 ga over the summer. Cheap easy to load thumpers that make big holes in things!
As a long time owner of a Tikka T3 light in 308 I must say if that barrel turns out not to your liking you have all the makings for a nice long range chassis gun. New stock and replacement barrel for that Tikkas action will make a nice long range shooter.
Even with a wire brush on my cleaning rod it took a long time to clean a .458 barrel that looked like that. Smooth bore. Looks like your barrel is undersized. Check the land and groove diameters when you get it clean.
You do you... when there are videos, we'll watch. I have too many hobbies, sometimes it's hard to divide my time between those and family. It's complicated.
Welcome to the human race Johnny. I can't speak for everyone, but I jump from hobby to hobby. I'd imagine you sometimes wonder "What is the next video going to be?". Thank you for the research and education you're providing, this stuff is great!!! I can definitely see where trying to post videos to a schedule can get very stressful and turn into a...a job!!!! AAAAAHHHHH!!!!! This is a fun channel (for some of us) and sometimes when we're showing our appreciation you may get the idea "Gosh! I've got to get a new video out!". When that happens, making the videos isn't fun anymore. I say take a break when you need one, I'll be back to pick up where you start again. I'm still at the beginning of my reloading hobby and you've published a very good library of reference material. Not all channels can say that. As far as everything turning into a big project...my wife told me the other day "Honey, your projects have projects." I would like to propose a video idea. While you load with various powders, how far off the beaten track have you gone? I recently tried Accurate LT-32 in my .223 and I got some very interesting results. Interesting enough that I'm going to load some more and see if I can duplicate the velocity results and then see how it prints. Life is a classroom, sometimes we have to jump to another subject to regain our balance. I'll catch that next video when you get 'er done. 😁
Don't rush with shotshells when you are low experience. They are not hard to learn, but you need to give yourself some time. Hulls and components will need to be an exact match to your load recipe in the beginning. Play it safe.
That's exactly why I spent two days reading and cutting hulls apart. All of the load data decision are made when you're buying components. I didn't realize how strict it was, but I've luckily found some data that should work for me.
shot gun loading can be hard if you get too deep in it but it basically comes down to straight walled hulls fiocchi rio federal-euro stuff and tapered wall being win AA, REM STS, GIN CLUBS ect..are all basically interchangeable between those 2 categories straight walled holds more powder and more payload, more room in the shell, generally speaking ur gonna want to keep all the tapered walls and straight walled separate, otherwise the data for both categories are the same just dont use euro data in a American hull or preassure will becan issue, other way around wont fill the hull and crimp will fold right on in and open, it's very easy, red dot, longshot, hs6, wsf, wst and you can do about anything
Like most things in life, quality is far more important than quantity. Honestly helped push me into reloading. Although I am probably weird in the fact that I find it cathartic. Safe shooting!
Im excited to see you start to do some shotgun reloading. I've just been starting to get my shotgun reloading stuff together since i finally have gotten my rifle and pistol stuff straightened out as best as i can and learned basically all of my knowledge from you, so I'm excited to see your ideas on the shotshell end just to see if my understanding on it from other channels and the manuals I've read lines up with it. Especially excited to see what your choice of primers will be considering I've only seen one kind in stock the past few months on the various websites I've checked on and haven't seen any the few times I've checked in stores.
Johnny, Bubba Round Tree on You Tube is a master teacher in shot shell reloading, simple and down to Earth! When it comes to gun cleaning, chemicals are a teaser when you want to get down to bare metal. I have every bore cleaner on the market at this time. What does work on hard carbon is Iosso and Montana Extreme plastic brushes with JB, Iosso, Montana Extreme copper cream, and Flitz firearm bore cleaner, which is perhaps the most aggressive. Another great product on the market now is Thurro-Clean. Another technique that should be used prior to using the plastic brushes and abrasives, use the very best bronze bristle brushes made by Dewey and Pro shot. The best bronze bristle brushes are good for 60 strokes (stroke one forward and one backward), and at 60 strokes if you will remove the brush and put on a new one, you are way ahead of the game. When the brush has 60 strokes on it, wind Fine Bronze wool in the brush, and clean, then add some of the abrasive on the brush. This is a massive improvement in cleaning using Fine bronze wool. Types of powder used is a huge factor in your gun cleaning, check the Heat Index Chart on powder, which is different from a Chart on Burning rate. IMR XBR 8208, R#15, Varget, and H4895 burn incredibly hot, and these powders can cook the powder fouling on hard! Soaking with chemicals is good for when there is little fouling in the barrel, but I have a Hawkeye and Teslong bore scope, and have yet to find a soaking solution that removes all the carbon. The issue becomes for many, what is clean or what is clean enough. Also, make video's as you feel inspired, you will be at your best. I have watched you grow and learn over time, keep applying yourself. A video per week is planned BURN OUT on your part. Every reloader and serious shooter should own a Teslong bore scope, then you become your own expert in gun cleaning...lots of snake oil out there being sold to the unsuspecting. First thing you learn is that clean patches does not mean a clean barrel. Carbon gets hard and will not show color on a patch but will still degrade potential accuracy of a rifle. Loading Buckshot, Slugs, and Tri-Ball loads in shotguns is a hoot, and you can far exceed the patterns of factory loads with more velocity. Wade of Bubba Round Tree on You tube is simply incredible in teaching to get long range buckshot loads, and molding buckshot and slugs. Johnny, to be inspired to make the best video's, you must not be burnt out. Charge your batteries for a while, take a break and figure out where you want to go. Best wishes and I look forward to your coming teaching sessions
Got my wife a flour mill and a bunch of wheat. I try to keep the freezer full. That's about it. But I agree, it's hard to keep a schedule and knock out quality videos.
Best place to learn the basic style of reloading. When anyone wants to learn to reload this is the channel I send them to.
The Tikka looks like a candidate to test the Tubb Final Finish Bore Lapping System.
You could literally spend your entire life doing this and you would only have scratched the surface. Thanks for your devotion.
I leave for the army this coming Sunday (23rd oct) and oh boy am I going to miss these videos
Love reloading and giving it up for 6 months during training is really a kick in the pants
You’ve been a huge blessing when it comes to knowledge and helping me get started and keep all my digits
I look forward to coming home and seeing the build up of your videos (and I’m getting married in the spring so that tell you something!)
Have a good time Johnny and thanks for the amazing content!
The farm???
Is there another channel???
@@knallis.hjemmelading th-cam.com/channels/XFoIYwcyKXE99E7XQ_LslQ.html
You brought me back to Reloading after my first attemptes 15 Years ago with much less knowledge, the Reloading Press from my Dad (Rockchucker 2) was happy that somebody used it again after this long Years 😀 and now with all your content and that of BoltActionReloading my Ammo is better than it ever was so keep up the good Work if it is on a shedule or not is not relevant for me the only Thing we want is good Videos from you and when you are happy we are too cause the happier you are the better the Videos and Quality are
Thanks a lot
Would much rather you put out a good quality video at you own pace than get burnt out from stressing and rushing to get a video out on a set schedule. Appreciate what you do brother. Metroid dread is sick, you make me want to do another play through now haha.
Agreed
If you haven't gone for 100% item completion, I highly recommend it! There are so many awesome shinespark puzzles in the game.
@@JohnnysReloadingBench yea, the first run i did i actually did for 100%. Some of the dash puzzles were a real bastard, but my ocd was satisfied in the end! Love the metroid series.
Awesome! I also need to start reloading shotgun shells. Another opportunity to learn good stuff from JRB!!!
I get a lot of value out of your vids man. Right there w ya on the past 2 years journey.
Started with your videos on 300 blk been around for a minute. No rush needed brother. Do what you love and at your own time. Everything I touch I make my big project too and it gets overwhelming at times trying to hit a deadline. Really enjoy your content put it out when it's right for you.
Thanks for the update and GOD bless!
I can't figure out how to message you on that app
Glad you made the video. Seems the more I plan, the more things get in the way too. Glad to see a video from you any day that it's ready!
I come to this channel specifically because it has no slant in that direction but still involves so many things I enjoy. Keep up the work!
JRB, do t rush anything with reloading. Safety and doing it correctly takes priority. Cheers my friend.
No worries bro! Just the update and the cool video coming out you’re gonna release is enough!! Cause we know you’ve got great stuff coming up!!!
You have the most informative reloading channel on any platform. You are like a training program for this subject. Priceless info
Thanks!
Glad to hear you're coming out of the Covid Chaos - fog and getting back into the groove, (so to speak).
I’m here for performance ammunition.
Always have been.
No one does it like you
Best video yet
That barrel is a manufacturing defect. Looks like stress fractures from something being on the mandrel when they forged the barrel around it. This is one of the examples of why cut-rifled barrels are usually more accurate than hammer forged. Forged lasts longer but cut-rifled/button-rifled barrels generally shoot better.
Looking forward to the projects! I know i understand, and for me its well worth the wait.
I'm halfway in and this is already the most JRB video I've ever seen! 😂Keep 'em coming!
Always enjoy you brand of reloading videos. And I’m happy to see them whenever so no worries about when the creative juices flo
I dont think the algorithm cares as much about a schedule as it did in years past.
This is the reloading video equivalent of having a meeting about having a meeting. Real life right here. 😂😂
Late to comment, but I love your channel. Do this thing your way, man. No one else does it better. About the Tikka, I hope she starts shooting. But if it doesn't, maybe rebarrel into 7mm08. I think this is a most underappreciated caliber but the most versatile.
Been missing the JRB Outdoors content also. Whatever you got going on you seem to make interesting.
I support you regardless. Been here since 5k and I will always click on your content.
The accelerator helps a ton here
2. Run a patch of alchohol or acetone to get the patch out out.
3. Run 3x wet patches of free all (silver can, get it from autozone) let it soak 8-24 hours
4. Spritz in more free all then use JB
5. Clean bore out of JB compound and inspect
Last 2 I did with this were done under a day, and now look new. Less than 10% of the effort it took with everything else before landing on this.
Free all breaks down nitrocellulose, and wicks under the lead fouling creating a hydraulic action letting the jb scrub it off in a delaminating fashion.
Scammers are back
As much as I enjoy watching your videos, I surely agree with the idea that the videos can’t be put on a schedule.
Still the best reloading content on TH-cam.
Good luck. Can’t wait!
What was confusing? I’ve never loaded shotgun, genuinely curious.
Take your time brother, everything you put out has been fantastic.
I resemble the title of this video 😅
Watched the video now not only can I see into the 7th dimension of reloading but also in a zen state
Great video stay frosty
This would be cool
Thanks, man! Let me figure out what's going on with this thing first and I might take you up on the offer.
I think you are going to like reloading shotgun shells, it’s so drastically different than loading metallic that it makes an excellent change of pace when you need to walk away from
A tedious reloading/gun project and do something different.
Your "non video video" is better than 90% of TH-cam. Keep on keeping on!
As far as everything turning into a big project...my wife told me the other day "Honey, your projects have projects."
I would like to propose a video idea.
Can’t wait to watch the shotgun video! Love your videos, whatever the focus!
shot gun loading can be hard if you get too deep in it but it basically comes down to straight walled hulls fiocchi rio federal-euro stuff and tapered wall being win AA, REM STS, GIN CLUBS ect..are all basically interchangeable between those 2 categories straight walled holds more powder and more payload, more room in the shell, generally speaking ur gonna want to keep all the tapered walls and straight walled separate, otherwise the data for both categories are the same just dont use euro data in a American hull or preassure will becan issue, other way around wont fill the hull and crimp will fold right on in and open, it's very easy, red dot, longshot, hs6, wsf, wst and you can do about anything
A good product takes time, I'll be waiting. Thank You
Like most things in life, quality is far more important than quantity.
