I love super comprehensive reviews on products people don't even know about. Really puts the whole market in perspective instead of just focusing on what's popular like most reviewers
Great to see you shot a review for the Yi Lite vs. Yi 4+, well done! Both have their benefits and you're correct, while spend three time the cost if all you need is 1080. Very nice and informative review, Thank You!
Yi Lite hands down, been using it to make bike adventure vlogs. I recently got a Yi 4k+ as well but I dont intend to use it because it got 4k, I am running out of hdd space and I dont think my pc can handle editing 4k footages. Yi 4k+ got a different processor and image sensor, so it might be an improvement to the picture quality over the yi lite. Havent had the chance to test them side by side yet, but what excites me more is, being able to use a microphone such as a rode video micro on the yi 4k+ which makes it a really small vlogging rig setup.
I just bought the Yi Lite because of your review (thanks man!) and the indoor low-light stills performance is surprisingly good with little to no blur. 60fps 1080p videos are REALLY good and smooth like you said. Stabilization is fine I don't really mind the weird jello effects. No regret picking this over the Discovery :D
You have always sung the praises of the Yi Lite so it's always been on my list to have as a on the go cam, but I was recently told that the Hero 2018 can be converted to a Hero 5 with a firmware upgrade so I think I may just do that!
Excellent comparison video! If I purchase the Yi 4K Plus, can I use protective cases meant for the standard Yi 4K? Is the shape identical? From the videos it looks to be the same.
I have both... and it just so happens, that the lite goes everywhere with me, go figure....I look forward to your videos more then any other channel my man....I actually just got the yi 4k camera, not the plus... maybe b&h can send u that one for a three way pillars fight to death....yi lite vs yi 4k vs yi 4k plus....
The Yi Lite looked pretty darn good. I think, maybe not worth the 4k version. Great video, Gary. I know you put a lot into each one and make greatness look easy.
Hey everyday dad love the videos! I use the 4k+ for motorcycle videos and you passed over that it is the only yi that records from a external microphone and that the adapter is tiny and included I know you record from an external source but I don’t maybe I’ll look into it, but I bought it for that a year ago and I always have the external mic on it, to me that was worth the difference
Wait, so does that mean you can use voice commands to start recording too like with the sena cams? I know that 4k+ does the voice command thing, but does it work through that external mic?
Blueford86 yes but it’s kindda unreliable maybe if it’s in somewhere more quiet than a helmet with wind noise it works and I am sure it picks it up from the external microphone
That would be a nice to have those two compared in low light conditions. The lower the better :). Ambarella vs HiSilicon in low light might be a distinguishing feature. If you could add there first gen yi action cam (the one without the screen) that would be even cooler. :)
Hey there Everyday Dad! I found your channel last week and have been watching tons of your videos - love your style and content! Just wondering if you've run across the Campark X20? Of all the budget action cams I've researched, this seems to be the only one that checks off pretty much all of your PILLARS OF ACTION CAMS (including touch screen, image stabilization and lots of accessories)! Would love to get your take before I buy my first action cam. Thanks for making the great videos - super informative and entertaining!
I couldn't wait having another action camera video pop up again. Men, I practically stalk your videos, to have me shouting out loud "The pillarsssss of actionnnn!" Along with you.😁 However, I think Yi lite is actually the best budget action cam out there at the moment. Nice video.👍
@@TheEverydayDad you are an inspiration, receive my love, respect and appreciation, all the way from Cameroon!!!(yep, a little country in the armpit of Africa, n yep your awesomeness entertains and inspire us here too) much love!👊😊
In my personal opinion (coming from a 16 year old, who's pockets aren't the deepest) I would go with the Lite with the 1080p 60fps usability. However if you *really* wanted that 4k capability, I would save up for the 4K *plus* at $200 right now on Amazon. It's worth saving up, in my opinion, for double the frame rate.
I have my Lite in the RiderM gimbal. I'm very happy with my 1080 footage and my voice seems to be clear. I keep a dead cat over the mic too. Noticed today though that there's a tinny electronic noise in the audio. I might change the audio settings to see if that fixes it. If not I'll try running it without the gimbal and see.
Hi... I want buy a camera for mountains walks, for trips and some panoramic photos... What is the best option Yi Lite, Yi 4k or Yi 4k+? I'm a novice in this topic.
Hey great video like your review vids. I have an action camera the Apexcam 4K EIS, trying to play around with it to find best setting that looks good. It shoots 4K 30, 2K 30, 1080 60, 1080 720 but the 720 is unusable. Any insight on this action camera?
Hey man, I loved the review and I'm totally into the Yi Lite. I was searching for it on Amazon and found a lime green version (that I like better) and was wondering if the camera has the same specs as the lite. Do you have any idea about it? Thank you so much!
While at 4K 30fps (YI 4K Plus) with Gyro on Hand Held, when I tested it running for a short distance the camera makes a clicking or like something is shaking inside. I noticed it when I replayed the video that I recorded.
Mmmmm, not worth the difference for me. I got some Yi-4k's and my next video will be using the Yi-4k footage in low light 🙂Came out great compared to my older action cams.
i was in croatia last week with my Yi 4k+ and my khroom snorkelmask. Both are great and i got pretty nice underwater footage. I could upload it but i fed the fish and i think many people would hate me for that... ? Dont know the snorkeling rules, it was my first time snorkeling, first time using the Yi 4k+ and of course first time with the mask.
my snorkeling tours went from 10 to 20 minutes, the waterproof case didn't get foggy at all. To be honest, i learned about the fog issue later from the internet, im just glad i didn't have those problems because i wasn't prepared at all (anti fog spray n stuff)
I need an action camera that is awesome in low light. Like in the city at night with the lights from billboards and skyscrapers etc. I currently have the yi lite and would like something more capable in the dark. Someone recommended the go pro 5 as a second hand one is reasonable $$.
Stabilization is CRAP in YI lite. Oh, man ! They never make something entirely good on a budget. Who wants to film with this terrible wooble effect ? And why not using a decent cell phone for that ? It doesn´t make sense.
Purchased the Yi Lite with the case back in December based on your recommendation. I paid $83. I love this camera. It does not disappoint. Thank you.
Absolutely! I'm glad its working out for you!

And the terrible wooble effect ? Turn off stabilization is out of the question !
Heeey, huli! Haha.

..Thank you my friend ,you are right ,but what about the middle one ?
YI4K VS Yi 4k Plus :)
You got me all excised over the YI cameras thanks for showing them
Ha! 🤣 thanks so much Rick 👍

I don't have a 4k screen so im going for the lite. Great video TEDD👍
Excellent comparison video! If I purchase the Yi 4K Plus, can I use protective cases meant for the standard Yi 4K? Is the shape identical? From the videos it looks to be the same.
Great videos reviews - one of the best I ever seen!
Legit one of my fav channels👏🏿

That’s a great idea 🤣👍 also I’m glad that they all work out for you!

Thanks so much for the great review! Would you be preferring yi lite over mijia?
thank you very much, great info. i keep watching out for your next ones

Wow I didn’t know that thanks for the heads up! 😁👍
Nah man thank you! I am learning a lot here

Thanks for showing the comparison! Love the content!
I’m here to help the buyers out there, the Yi 4K+ is now on sale on amazon for $150
where is this deal????
Ok just curious and you probably have already said this but what do you normally record in ? Like your vlog.

That’s so awesome 👍
You are the best reviewer of action cameras good job! :-)
But what about the yi 4k+ vs yi 4k vs yi lite? HMMMMMMMM?? :P just curious...asking for a friend :)
How would you compare the Yi Lite to the Yi 4K sports and action camera? Yi lite is going for $57 on Amazon now. Yi 4K for $104.
Will the waterproof case for my Yi Lite fit on the 4K+? Just picked up a 4K+ with a $50 amazon coupon for $179 - couldn't not buy it
Should work!
Does the YI Lite have a connection for an external microphone ???
Thanks for the awesome review.
looks like it does not from the research ive been doing. i don't know about the yi k4 yet.
4k without plus maybe the best value for money. Whatcha think
Great review.. What SD card would you recommend for the Yi Lite?
Hi... I want buy a camera for mountains walks, for trips and some panoramic photos... What is the best option Yi Lite, Yi 4k or Yi 4k+? I'm a novice in this topic.
NOOOOOOOO!!! You didn't randomly yell out the cheesy "action, action, action" again! lol You just did the echo. :P
Does the Lite have a more narrow angle lens? It looks like that on the split screen shots.
I’m looking for an inexpensive cam like one of these that supports an external mic. What are my options The
Everyday Dad?
Hey great video like your review vids. I have an action camera the Apexcam 4K EIS, trying to play around with it to find best setting that looks good. It shoots 4K 30, 2K 30, 1080 60, 1080 720 but the 720 is unusable. Any insight on this action camera?
Can I use any gopro-sized case/mount for my yi lite?
I only care about excellent EIS and good video quality. Will record in 1080p@60. Should I get the 4k?
Hey man, I loved the review and I'm totally into the Yi Lite. I was searching for it on Amazon and found a lime green version (that I like better) and was wondering if the camera has the same specs as the lite. Do you have any idea about it? Thank you so much!
Good morning .
Do I need to buy Gimbal as well alongwith it ?
While at 4K 30fps (YI 4K Plus) with Gyro on Hand Held, when I tested it running for a
short distance the camera makes a clicking or like something is shaking
inside. I noticed it when I replayed the video that I recorded.
Can you add an external mic to the Yi cameras?
Please suggest me form procus, yi, netgen or firefly, mijia or from sjcam I want to but immigeatly.. Around 100$ please
can I connect this camera in a cellphone?
Mmmmm, not worth the difference for me. I got some Yi-4k's and my next video will be using the Yi-4k footage in low light 🙂Came out great compared to my older action cams.
Nice! I might try out the Yi 4K sometime in the future if I get ahold of one 👍
Does the Yi Lite fit in the GoPro Hero 3 Waterproof case ?
I don't believe so. I am fairly sure that the Yi Case is proprietary.
Edit: that being said though the mount is the same
i was in croatia last week with my Yi 4k+ and my khroom snorkelmask. Both are great and i got pretty nice underwater footage. What about external mic option?
The YI LITE camera with 16 MP is worst than my Samsung note 8 mobile camera with 12 MP. I returned and went for AKASO.
Love the reviews, now..i want to see the Yi4k non + in a side by side comparison...the price i think is still 169..so it would be a midground budget
I need an action camera that is awesome in low light. Like in the city at night with the lights from billboards and skyscrapers etc. I currently have the yi lite and would like something more capable in the dark. Someone recommended the go pro 5 as a second hand one is reasonable $$.
thing is yi 4k+ can use external microphone, the 4k and the lite don't.
Hi Tedd. Please review sjcams..:) been watching all your reviews..
You got a sub, cheers :)
Well thanks so much!
Yi has a pretty good app.
love my YI 4k+ well worth it.
Hi there how has the battery been and while shooting 4k 60fps? Thanks
Why eis on yi lite look better?
Great report Gee they are close think I stick with my G5 stay safe
Great review but i would pass on both..my $40 eken h9r did the job well for travel vlog+$10 gimbal
Where did you buy the USD10 gimbal?
Only problem I had was the fish eye distortion
Great comparison!
Stabilization is CRAP in YI lite. Oh, man ! They never make something entirely good on a budget. Who wants to film with this terrible wooble effect ? And why not using a decent cell phone for that ? It doesn´t make sense.
after installing the water case, how are you going to access the touchscreen? 😂
If I get yi 4k plus
Coz I can use external microphone
Am happy with my Sony FDR3000
Hey the Go Pro hero 7bis out!
6:42 aren't the tags confused? :o
