Yep my old stomping grounds. I remember all the places he told about. Had some really great times back then. Good times cruising down thru town on Friday and Saturdays and meeting up with the girls then heading out to the gravel pits to party afterwards! When I remember home I think of these times! It really was a great place in the late sixties thru the seventies. We all had a blast.
I’ve purchased and read both books. I highly recommend them! Thank you for putting it all together for our collective memories! There’s something special about the place where a person grows up.
Weird to see. I grew up in Wooster and Shreve, but I was born in 87. It's strange seeing things that are closer to what I remember as a kid but still off.
I was born in Wooster in 2000's, when it was honestly decently dilapidated and overrun with drugs in my early childhood. I visit family there, and it has since been cleaned up and business seems to be doing well. I do miss some of the old small businesses Wooster used to have though! I actually cling to Hartzler's, The Green Leaf, Buehler's, Coccia House, Acres of Fun, Skateland, Wayne Lanes & Triway Lanes for nostalgia! Not to mention, the annual county fair is one of the best around!!
That's right, Dawna! And don't forget about the first book, which is more about classic Wooster: "Childhood, Ohio: Memories of Growing up in Wooster, Ohio, in the 1960s".
@@sgrisettiI'm glad you reminded me of the first book! I lived in Wooster in the ‘60’s with my mother and brother Danny Miller and my mother, Mrs. Miller, the art teacher. We moved to Lebanon, Ohio, in 1968. Momand I made our way to the west coast in 1970. Of course, @Michael Balas was born and raised in Wooster and moved to Oregon in 2018.
Remember that this video is just a promo for our books about Wooster -- "Childhood, Ohio" and "Wooster in the 1970s" -- both loaded with pictures and stories and both available on Amazon.com. I don't remember photos of Pittsburgh Avenue School, but there are lots of stories and pictures of the neighborhood around it and LOTS of stories about the old downtown.
I don't recognize your name, Mech. But I do know that every place I've ever lived has wonderful things and terrible things. And like it or hate it, it is a part of us. Take care.

My hometown. Many great memories. What a surprise to discover this! Along way from Atlanta but always close to my heart.
My Hometown 🖤 I’ll always have love for Wooster
Thank you for taking me back.I loved growing up in Wooster
Great slice of Americana back in the 70's. I loved growing up in and around Wooster in the 60's and 70's.
Same here!

NE Ohio was a great place to be a teenager in the 70s. I'm from the Mahoning/Trumbull county area originally. The music seen was the best.
Fantastic! Thank you.
Played at the Hitching Post many times in the 70s
My mom is from Wooster, born 1940, Deanna Bentz
Just so nice
Narrator's voice sounds like the original "The Wonder Years" narrator!
Ha! Sorry. It's just me!
Well done Steve! 👏👏👏 We’re buying the book today. Amazon, right?

Together the two books really tell the story of Wooster in the late 20th century. I'm really proud of how they turned out!
Coccia Pizza House should have been added to this footage= :)
FWIW there are lots of references to Coccia House in both this book ("Wooster in the 1970s") and the original ("Childhood, Ohio").
@@sgrisetti ok good deal / best pizza in the world!
Great pizza!

Do you have any pics of Pittsburgh Ave. School or anything on Pittsburgh Ave.
