That transition to the DSLR at the minute mark -- ooft. Now, I think the webcam looks great, and very promising, but it feels like the ultimate solution for premium quality will always be that DSLR setup. Then again, the price points are so vastly different, and the setup for the DSLR makes it harder for the average consumer to engage with. I'm really considering this Kiyo Pro now, after watching this review!
Anyone know if there's a way to record video with this thing using its native software, Synapse? I'm not looking to stream with this webcam, I'm looking to record video to then edit in with gameplay footage in post. Do I need to use OBS to record?

I really appreciate how informative this video is. I got the original kiyo a cpl of months ago for under $90 for streaming. I love it so far using it & it’s most def an upgrade to what I use to use WAY back in the day. $199 is a bit out of my price range but it’s def something I’ll be watching for sales or price drops come the holidays. That hdr def makes a world of a difference.

Not having the Adjustable Brightness Ring Light on this webcam is a GODSEND! The old Razer Kiyo was a burden to anyone who wore glasses during their stream, showing that bright white circle in both eyes the entire time. Something tells me the Razer team saw this as a big problem, which is why this camera has a hypersensitivity to surrounding light. The ring light on the original was a mistake - putting this camera (for people who wear glasses) on the low end of the buyers spectrum, for a huge markup.

for anyone still hesitating, its worth more than what you pay for. I was skeptical too when i was planning to buy this because i had razer products before and they break easily, while this webcam excels my expectations of the quality. Its heavy and feels premium. Also the quality is very clear for me even with bright light in my rooml.
Great camera, let down by the software not running on Mac. The App recommended here, works, but doesn’t allow you to engage the wide angle function, which is why I bought the camera. Found a fix. If you use Zoom, click the HD tab. Camera then goes to full wide angle. 👍

Hey! Do you remember Wii U? Do you still have it and use it? I remember when I watched your review about it in 2012. IT'S JUST AMAZING AND SAD AT THE SAME TIME, HOW TIME FLIES SO FAST. I recently bought Wii U and enjoying playing with it.
I wish you would have compared it to the Razer Kiyo Webcam as I already own that one and I'm just not quite Convinced on buying the Pro Version. If it was 1080P at 60Fps with HDR on i would consider it even more but to see that I have to sacrifice frame rate to get HDR, and there is no focus adjustment and the led ring light was removed its hard for me to consider buying the new version.
Unfortunately, I don't have the original Kiyo anymore or I would have compared it. I agree with you wanting 1080p HDR at 60 fps. There is manual focus adjustment in the software, but you might be talking about physical adjustment on the webcam itself.

What a missed opportunity. However I really value your input on this and yeah this camera still seems to win the clarity part of the camera.
Just picked this up for Black Friday at $99! Haven’t used yet, but super stoked for it! It definitely seems like it’s a huge step better than my $20 dollar Aukey webcam.
Anyone watching this video. Consider the Iriun Webcam software on Android. Your phone offers SO much better quality than any standard webcam. Even if this has one of the best quality video quality out there, it fails exceptionally even against mid-range phones like the Moto One Vision. The Positives: + Quality is absolutely spectacular + High resolution and high frame rates if your phone supports it - 1080p, 1440p 2160p (4K) at 60fps + Camera features remain, bokeh, focus, zoom etc. + I think the pro version cost around 5EUR (otherwise you are limited to 5 minutes) + Wifi & USB-capable. I recommend using USB since you will be charging and doing data transfer on real wire. To enable USB-mode you setup your phone as a developer (tap 5 times on the Settings > About Phone > "Build Number") and then enable USB-debugging The negatives: - a couple of frames delay - occupies the phone during recording/conversation and it becomes fiddly if somebody texts or calls. Best scenario. If you have an extra phone laying around, perhaps a good one with a cracked screen but good camera, it's a perfect application. I can highly recommend to try the software.

Not sure it still looks like what I can get from my Logitech C922 pro. It's all in how you have your Lighting set up. I'm not a big fan of the RAZER software and I use there keyboards and mice. The Razer Software still feels buggy and that would be one the the first things is why I would not would that webcam from Razer that and the Razer Price TAX they want you to pay for it.. This actually helped me because I’m a gaming streamer and the camera is quite impressive for a webcam compared to your usual webcams like Logitech for instance.

I was debating if i should upgrade my Logitech C920 to this cos my current webcam pixelates/has noise when i use in 1080p full screen mode.. this camera seems infinitely better and pops the colours which is good i have 2 sources of lighting i dont exactly have a studio.. but this camera does seem worth the buy if you are planning to upgrade also the comparison between the other Logitech cameras you can see the colours pop much better
Are you using the built in mic from the Kiyo Pro? I have one and the mic is terrible. I wouldn't expect that, but my cheap 5 year old webcam has a much better mic and I wonder if I need to RMA it.
Seems legit but I run a multi cam podcast and I noticed that you can't use multiple Logitech cams (max of two) and so I was forced to get a third party cam for my overhead cam. Point being is that it's really challenging to get all three cam's to look the same. I'm wondering if this cam would have the same or similar problem. Any chance you could another review with 3 cams in OBS? No worries if that seems dumb... definitely seems like a very niche problem

also you can customize the quality to fit your room lighting, turning off auto focus solves alot of problem.
3:20 what camera are you using because you can see a big difference in smoothness between them even though I’m on a 60Hz IPhone

OR you can use the synapse app on a PC, sync your camera and disconnect. Connect it to a Mac and VOILA! Your Kiyo Pro will keep it's settings.

It's a DSLR. Most DSLR can achieve this quality with the right settings, and lens combo.
