My instructor at the MSF taught me the “screwdriver” grip to help me with better throttle control. Now, that’s how I ride🤷♂️ my hand feels natural to this position and I have found it helps when making the transition from brake to throttle when setting up turns or just normal stop and go riding. Another great video, Master Jitsu!😂
Your videos have made my a far better rider than I used to be. I understand that it is just knowledge and experiences that you are sharing, and passing on. But it makes the world of difference to a rider like myself. After I recently had a nasty accident I used many of your instructional videos and your advice to regain my confidence. And for that, I thank you sir.
I got a question, how would you hold that hand position in a turn but also trying to trail brea? Seems like it takes your pointer and middle finger out of the equation when in that position.
It is still able to be done. I keep my break lever pretty close to the bars and i can fit both pointer and middle onto the break lever while initiating and maintaining my turn. Good luck!
Your videos have taught me so much and in the 6 months I have followed you (and a very select few others) you have helped me become a much better and safer rider. Thanks!
This is something I tried to practice a lot when I was getting into more aggressive body position, while sitting on the bike in my garage. At first it felt kinda hectic with all the other things going on, moving inside, braking, downshifting, etc. A little practice when standing still paid dividends on the track.
Perfect timing as I’m getting my bike back from the shop this week and will finally get my season started. I’ve been riding for 40+ decades (including BMX as a kid) and always had trouble with tight right-hand turns. I’ll have to give this a try. Thanks and stay safe.
Excellent. Never come across this but wish6 I had. For reasons which remain elusive to me I had issues with slow right turns during my early days of riding. I suspect this video would have saved me a bit of pain and cash resulting from a couple of drops and maintained my confidence! ATVB
PLEASE HELP Hey, I have a 2006 Cbr600rr and its been misfiring randomly. It mostly does it when the bike is hot, but sometimes when its cold and generally in low RPM. I changed the spark plugs, coils, did a fluid wash, gas stabilizer, oil change, checked the connections and related electrical stuff. When I put the new coils in, I made sure that the strips were all the way in. Any idea what could be causing it to still misfire?
I can't believe this. I have been riding for 40 years, former MX racer too, and I watched this video, then realized that I have been doing this exact thing the whole time, I just never noticed. I never even gave it any thought, it just came natural I guess. Weird or what? Anyway, YES, this is absolutely true, do it if you don't already.
This may be great advice for a track day. If you need this on public roads you are just going TOO FAST. I've ridden for a couple dozen years, never needed to do this at all.
I’ve had numerous wrist and hand surgeries. I physically cannot use my full grip so holding it sideways is the only way I’ve been able to ride. Turns out that’s a good thing hahaha
Tried this a couple of times but having a hard time using this technique with my brake lever. As I understand your video it's either or and should be a fluid transition. Maybe it clicks with my next ride. Will report back.
thanks for the video! please help me with a question: for a beginner, would you recommend a bike with ABS or non-ABS and why? as I can't find a clear and reasoned answer from people around me that ride a bike Thanks, all the best!
Half the people around you that ride a bike must be idiots. There is no reason (other than a DRZ) anyone should be on the street with a non ABS bike these days. It will save your life.
It seems that people favor ABS for the primary reason of emergency braking. You never know when you run into that situation when you get caught off guard, you have good training and intentions, but you need the machine to kick in to save your behind better than you can
@@dustinjohns2587 nah the grips are fine and I try to support myself as much as I can with my legs but I can't fully. like that drill at classes where they have you lean on the bike on the kickstand I can never stay up.
Help!!! I just watched a video that stated “ don’t use the front brake ever” which is totally opposite of what you have shared. What to believe, the internet is filled with so much Bullshit. Just getting confused.
There's a right way and a wrong way of doing things and what works for you is the wrong way more often than not. So the correct is the safe way when it comes to riding

My brother taught me this, my control has become much better, and it feels natural now.
Thanks!

Thanks Greg. God Bless you man.

I worked hard on this when I first started riding agressively and now it's natural. I only use my thumb and finger tips

also works great when u need to stand up to avoid moving ur hand without wanting as ur body "moves" up and down.
Keep these vids up! Great to hear what to do with this hand or foot while doing this or that on the bike.
Trail braking made difficult
This may be great advice for a track day. If you need this on public roads you are just going TOO FAST. I've ridden for a couple dozen years, never needed to do this at all.
What if i have the Kaoko throttle lock at the end of the grip?
And that's why I prefer clip on handlebars🤷 leaning with body position and aways with fingers on the brakes.
Cheers, great vídeos as always 👌
Seems subtle, but my right turns being always more stif than on the left side. This may be pretty helful !! Thanks !!
Guess I have to stop saying “two fists to the wind” and start saying “one fist and an ice cream cone to the wind” lol
Small details make a big difference! This case may also be said: great details, big difference! 🎉
Another excellent tip Greg. Thank you as always. :)
i like the idea i literally came across the video at most random click , however i do struggle with right turns leaning in
That is very useful thanks
Great tip, thanks Sensei. I sometimes struggle with right turns.
How should I have two fingers on my brake lever when I hold throttle like this?
I’ve had numerous wrist and hand surgeries. I physically cannot use my full grip so holding it sideways is the only way I’ve been able to ride. Turns out that’s a good thing hahaha
It’s exhausting on my shoulder but I don’t notice until I slow down or am done riding

Anytime, every time, screwdriver grip is fantastic all the time.
thanks for the video!

People tell me ABS. So that’s what I got.
Half the people around you that ride a bike must be idiots. There is no reason (other than a DRZ) anyone should be on the street with a non ABS bike these days. It will save your life.
ABS! I’ll never buy another bike without it.
It seems that people favor ABS for the primary reason of emergency braking. You never know when you run into that situation when you get caught off guard, you have good training and intentions, but you need the machine to kick in to save your behind better than you can
Abs for street. None for track. That is all.
I've tried this technique a few times on track. any tips on how to hold on? I feel like I have 0 throttle control and my hand is just slipping off.
Are your grips worn? Also, most of your weight should be on your legs and core while turning. It will begin to feel more natural with more practice!
@@dustinjohns2587 nah the grips are fine and I try to support myself as much as I can with my legs but I can't fully. like that drill at classes where they have you lean on the bike on the kickstand I can never stay up.
Harder to do the screwdriver method with end bar mirrors.
I am confused. You talk about turning right but demonstrate tipping to the left. What am I missing?
Hes definitley tipping right.
Had a low side on my first track day today 😔
Help!!! I just watched a video that stated “ don’t use the front brake ever” which is totally opposite of what you have shared. What to believe, the internet is filled with so much Bullshit. Just getting confused.
theres a billion different ways to ride, just do what works for you

@@tejaswishenoy3786 tell that to every rider who has crashed and had to reinvent their style and how they ride.
I have that problem with the left side.
Don't grip the handle hard and it comes naturally when needed.
Lightsabre grip
tks!!!
You're welcome!
I have a harder time leaning left

Funny.... I ride close to the speed limit and I don't have any of the problems that you're mentioning.
I find going left harder 😅🤣 Just me? 🙃
Huh. Thought I was just a moron at turning right but there you go, it's a thing.
Why hasn’t anybody thrown a thumb throttle on a bike?
Yey!!
More bad advice. Good lord
