    Absolutely breathtaking, Tessa and Scott were born for each other. Even as teenagers, the quality of their skating and their perfect timekeeping made them stand out as future olympians.such beauty , I can't get enough of them!

    She's one of the best ice dancers I've ever seen. Her movements are extremely precise, her posture and carriage fabulous and her speed and knee bend are amazing. They were both wonderful. I can't get over the difficulty at this young age. So clear they were rising stars. And you can see the emotional connection they already have.

    0:06 Tessa winks at Scott
    0:22 Scott winks at Tessa
    0:40 a comforting hand squeeze
    3:54 a hand kiss and heartfelt hug
    5:52 a little hand holding and hand squeeze

    See 0:41 - Scott squeezes Tessa's hand before they begin. Amazing how at that young age they already developed non-verbal messages and/or cues to comfort and help each other. Soooo cute and smart!
    Unfortunate that the judges were age-biased than purely merit-based . Tessa and Scott were definitely the youngest duo (out of 28 duos who competed) and IMO skated at a level beyond their years.

    See, it's impossible to start this young as a partnership and not have great chemistry. It's such a blessing for these two, and pairs like D&W who just hit it off from the beginning. Being allowed to grow with each other as skaters and people is how you get the deep, complex relationship that makes their dancing so beautiful now that they have matured as artists. Ahhh, this is amazing to watch. :)

    Phenomenal! Their speed, unison, dance holds all excellent. Scott's footwork on the lifts is impeccable. And i think Tessa is incapabable of hitting an ugly position. I can't quite understand why the marks were so low! Ah well, 6 years later the youngest ever ice dancers to win Olympic GOLD!

    • @wilhelmina8843
      @wilhelmina8843 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Their lifts just weren’t as strong and complicated as the other teams at that point. Remember they were about 2 to 6 years younger than most other junior competitors. Plus it was back in the days when you had to put in your time so the marks didn’t always reflect. But yes, they were so good. Everything you said is spot on. And the ease and confidence in which they moved- even a lot of seniors didn’t have this. They skated so upright - not hunched over pumping their backs up and down like other teams. Amazing speed, great musicality even at that age.

    translation/paraphrase of some of the announcers' commentary (couldn't catch all of it due to the music and the male announcer being really soft-spoken): they start out saying they're an adorable couple. then some remarks on the costumes suiting them very well. once the program gets going, they talk about how they are performing the difficult looking choreography 'very smoothly'. Towards the end, they say that though they're not doing anything extremely difficult, it's very good for their age/level. Right as it ends they say that it was a very cute and charming performance and that Tessa looked very pretty all the way through which gave a good impression. I couldn't catch everything as they were taking their bows, but the lady says that it was a very lovely performance. The male announcer says that although the steps they were doing while holding hands were not incredibly difficult, they did it very prettily. 'There's a lot to look forward to from this couple in the future.' While they're waiting for their scores they say that they look very satisfied with their performance. (i dont know much about ice skating but i do have a japanese degree, lol)

    0:40 Scott does the hand squeeze before their performance even back then. I saw he did that in a video from their tour in 2019. In interviews they talk about how they hand squeeze or talk to each other before and during their perfomances all the time. 0:21 5:53

    I think it was during this time when Tessa was growing so fast, the parents were worrying she’d outgrow Scott and would have to find another partner for each. Eventually, Scott did catch up and they’re still partners after 21 years. I hope this “unique” partnership would eventually end up in marriage. LOL That is if they’re not yet married. There’s a conspiracy theory that these two are actually married. Fans! 😁

    Just from looking at the Junior performances I can tell Tessa would have been without a doubt UNSTOPPABLE and INCOMPARABLE with any other skater if she hadn't developed that compartment syndrome. She's such a magnificent dancer here and even now but I can't even imagine what would have been if she'd continued to develop in this way uninterrupted.

    • @LadyZaZaSol

      What is compartment syndrome

    • @JetaimeToday
      @JetaimeToday ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@LadyZaZaSol - From the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons:
      Compartment syndrome is a painful condition that occurs when pressure within the muscles builds to dangerous levels. This pressure can decrease blood flow, which prevents nourishment and oxygen from reaching nerve and muscle cells.
      Common Signs and Symptoms: The "5 P's" are oftentimes associated with compartment syndrome:
      1. Pain
      2. Pallor (pale skin tone)
      3. Paresthesia (numbness feeling)
      4. Pulselessness (faint pulse)
      5. Paralysis (weakness with movements).
      Numbness, tingling, or pain may be present in the entire lower leg and foot.
