    Help me understand why the interviewer thinks that electric car owners should not have to pay the carbon tax that is used towards building new roads.

    • @user-sm3ii5dk1u
      @user-sm3ii5dk1u หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      Firstly the 13.5 cent/L tax is not a carbon tax, it is a provincial tax directly used to pay for road building and maintenance. It was paused by 9 cent/L while gas prices inflated and has now been brought fully back. There was NO increase or new tax in Alberta. The carbon tax does nothing for roads, or much else, of course that is the federal liberal version of a "program". The tool interviewer thinks that you should not have to pay for road maintenance if you virtue signal by buying an EV, because of, well, "free stuff for me".

      I strongly recommend that everyone does some basic research on how the standard 8 hour working day, employment protection rights, national retirement pension, paid sick days, long-term sickness benefit, national healthcare, paid vacation, maternity leave, etc, etc, came into being.
      IF you can be bothered, you will find that ALL of them were proposed and EVENTUALLY brought into being by proponents and politicians who at the time were called progressives or liberals. I emphasise EVENTUALLY, be cause ALL of them were opposed, delayed, watered down, and occasionally rowed-back, when in power, by Conservatives.
      You owe your relatively comfortable long lives to liberals.

Evidence, from countries world wide, shows that putting a price on carbon makes companies look for ways and implement ways to decrease their carbon emissions. A reduction in emissions decreases the carbon in the air that is causing climate change.
