It's still crazy to me Andy never got the Birds a ring, he always had solid rosters and got to the NFCCG so many times. He goes to KC and gets them multiple.
@@firingallcylinders2949 There were two key differences. QB play and Andy's willingness to devote resources to good skill players. Let's not forget Andy refused to play rookie 1st rounders their first year and had complete GM control in Philly. In KC he didn't have full control
Crazy that during this period, before beating the falcons in 2004 this was their best chance to win a conference championship. The games against the Bucs and Panthers weren’t close.
This was the first football game i ever watched. I was 8 years old, my dad was a die hard eagles fan and his excitement got me into football. Ofcourse we lost in the nfc championship or superbowl 4 years straight after this, but thats what made 2017 so special. Nobody saw us coming that year after wentz went down

The start of the eagles 4 straight nfc championship appearances. Having an overall record of 1-3. With their only win resulting in a Super Bowl loss to the 2004 pats.
Out of all the Reid era playoff losses, this one has to be the least painful. Mostly because the Eagles were a young, upcoming team at this point and the Rams were clearly the better squad. The NFC title losses against the Bucs, Panthers, and Cardinals as well as Super Bowl 39 against the Patriots, now those are another story.
Yeah and mcnabb was trash in this game as he was for most playoff losses can’t blame the coach for 💩 qb play but Reid is 100000 to blame for the Super Bowl loss even if mcnabb was hung over and throwing up
funny how that's so true! This one is still painful & I still wonder if they would've won had N.D Kalu blocked that punt. But compared with the last game at the Vet, 3 Stinking Points & coming back from a 24-6 halftime deficit only for our defense to fail at the worst time... this one was the least painful NFCCG loss of them all.
The Bucs & Panthers one were BRU-TAL lmao. Bucs because it was Philly's LAST game in the Vet, and the Panthers because that was the FIRST year in the Lincoln lmao. NFC South does them dirty (with exception of Atlanta)

I was a 10 year old Eagles fan, and this one crushed me, I cried. Greatest show on turf. In hindsight, I was a lucky kid being able to watch that team while it was happening.
As an Eagles fan I’m grateful to have grown up watching these Andy Reid led 2000s teams. This game was my first taste of seeing the Eagles in a big game. It may have taken them another 16 years to finally win the big game, but this is to me when it all started.
I remember this game. It looked close for a while but Rams pulled away. Man was I happy at about 11 years old when the Eagles lossed this game and then angry asl when Rams were defeated on turf by Pats two weeks later 😂
Honestly forgot how winnable this game was. Birds had the ball at midfield, two minutes to go, needing a TD to take the lead. 3rd and 7, 4th and 7 - McNabb forces two throws to Freddie Mitchell. Poor play calling as well. You can see how far the game has evolved.
Also the 2nd to last postseason game the St. Louis Rams ever hosted. The last one was the 2003 NFC Divisional where Delhomme and Carolina won that thriller on the first play of 2OT.
The Philadelphia Eagles going to The NFC Championship 4 times in a row during the 2000's reminds me of The Detroit Pistons going to The Eastern Conference Finals 6 times in a row during the 2000's.
I remember watching this game, I wanted the Eagles to win so bad bc I thought they were the only team that could beat New England that year. I cried in the shower lol
Aside from the 99 Super Bowl win this was the peak of the St Louis Rams. Already Super Bowl champions in 99 and they were getting to play for another Lombardi. It didn't get better than this. Wish STL had an NFL team again.
I remember this Philly team from the early 2000s. If they gave McNabb some decent wide receivers, they would've won at least 2 Super Bowls. They finally made it to the Superbowl in 2004 when TO was on the team.

For a country then hurting after 9/11, it would have been a great Super Bowl 36 matchup between the Eagles and the Patriots. Not only would it be a battle between two underdogs but a battle between teams with American symbols on their logos. The Patriots have the colors of the US flag and get their name from the minutemen who faced off against the British for US independence. The Eagles have the national emblem of the United States.
