Here in Portugal this series was broadcasted on RTP in 1983/1984,I think here was called "Belfy e Lilibit" or something similar. I remember very well the characters of which there was a lot of merchandising,but I don't remember if this was the opening theme that was broadcast here or if we had another version.
This section of the internet is wild. There's Hebrew, Japanese, English. The anime was animated by タツプロ, dubbed and distributed globally in the 80s. The animation looks like straight fire as well. Some of the people commenting would be recognizable if you linger around these parts as well.
I believe Saban REALLY let me down when they sold out to Hasbro, which itself is NOT a rival tv producer. That is why it's imperative that they release this in uncut in Japanese dialogue with English subtitles. Same is so with the so-called "Noozles" series.

this has that Japanese 70's vintage fairy tale adaption feel.
This opening is so much weirder from the English counterpart however it has a charm to it especially with the yodel-esque chorus in the back.

It's too bad that this project has seemingly died.
oof, 7 years. That's just sad because i love comparing versions
DVD isn't the standard now but fans are able to add their own subtitles, and even upscale the quality to HD.
