We just had a broadcast storm on Thursday because of a misconfigured NIC. Only took down one small part of network because of VLANs

Tony, do you think you might be able to do a video on the proper setup for a Grandstream DP750 with DP 720 phones?

Hey Dennis, I don’t have that gear but I did this exact setup for a remote client 2 years ago. Let me see if I still have my notes. If I do, I’ll email them to you.

I use Cisco 2960 switch with pfsense in my office LAN. Do you think Gramstream switch is a good replacement ? By the way thanks for sharing this nice and clear guide. Can't wait for the inter vlan routing part

Thanks for watching. The Grandstream switches are solid and well made. They offer a ton of enterprise options as well. Depending on the size of your office, I wouldn’t have a problem installing a Grandstream switch.

I need your help to configure one vlan per ports ( I have 2 ports connected between router and switch)? Example I have router sfp1 connect to switch sfp 3 and router spf 2 connect to switch sfp 4, created 2 vlans (86 and 89), tagged port sfp3 for vlan 89 and tagged port sfp 4 for vlan 86, but only vlans 86 get ip from dhcp, vlans 89 will not.
But if I set tagged port 89, 86 for each vlans then vlans 89 will get the ip address, however all traffic go through sfp 4 only (vlan 86). I’m trying to make it work but no luck, the main purpose is separate the port traffic between router & switch (I’m using gwn7003 and gưn7802p

When I have some free time, I’ll try to replicate this setup in the lab and do some testing.

@6:00 the switch needs to be smarter and do this bit automatically, or at least offer a check box to do it in the previous step

Agreed! Although, it does automatically exclude the port from the other vlans once the type is changed to “access.” Thanks for watching.
