that felt like such a sweet and candid conversation towards the end there about personal mental health experiences and honestly it feels very nice that academy award winners and male latenight hosts can both feel comfortable enough to express their feelings in a public format. its so important to destigmatize mental illness i just think this was great

Well the naive part of me thinks 'oh well done Emma Stone for being so brave and for talking about and destigmatizing mental illness' but then the cynic in me thinks 'ah, this will make great publicity.' Did she pull him to one side beforehand and say 'oh and by the way we're gonna talk about my anxiety for a bit in this interview'? I suppose either way it gets people talking about anxiety (which has crippled me beyond words in the past) but it just feels a little forced here. It definitely didn't come up naturally in conversation
+superblonde ~ The ACA covers mental health. And why scare quotes around therapy? Some kids have a harder time than others, just like adults. My friend's daughter has OCD, therapy has been a great help and teaches her to cope with her anxieties in a healthier way.

Well, as to the cynical part, obviously it was planned since they had the picture. But she's been talking about her anxiety for a quite some time. WestOfEarth I deal with a lot of anxiety too and unfortunately it's not that easy. I mean maybe it helps for some people but everyone is very different.

So awesome to hear others talk about panic attacks and anxiety, people who can understand what I went through growing up. I overcame the panic attacks and hoped I could overcome the anxiety, but after listening to them, it appears it will be with me the rest of my life.

My dad and I was trying to find the tennis movie she's in because my dad swore he had seen it on TV several years before ..... then we found out it hadn't come out yet .... so I thought maybe he'd seen a different version. So we watched the trailer and he was like, "that's the movie I watched!" "It was the same actors."
