Murder of a Male Massage Operator
The foul smell of a highly decomposed body in one of the units at Blk 79 Indus Road which went undetected for ten days finally led to its discovery. With the cooperation from the Royal Malaysia Police, watch how the officers from the Criminal Investigation Department solved the case within 26 hours upon its discovery.
Honestly i believe that it isnt murder or even manslaughter, it was self defense the victim had intention to hurt him so stabbing him with a knife was just defending himself, furthermore he was depressed and probably was having a hard time. Lastly, he said he felt bad for stabbing him. This shows he is showing remorse

Since Singapore is extremely strict about law and crime, if Ah Liang (the perpetrator) did not have any of the above (depression, some justified self defence etc), he would have probably gotten the death sentence. In this case, he got a life imprisonment which is extremely lucky to be honest.

this wont be classified under self defence, if liang stab him once and ran away, yeah sure maybe it's self defence but he went to stab him multiple times and even hitting him with a heavy object at the end when he was unable to move
Self defense is a grey area. It needs to be proven first and in some cases overseas, the person has been able to go free. There are very sad cases where a partner has abused another for many years to the point where the other person fears for their life and the abuse I am talking about is shockingly horrible and is prolonged, over twenty years and sometimes there are children involved who are treated as badly. Sometimes they are treated even worse. If it is proven that they did fear for their lives, then it is understandable. The victim should not be further punished, despite them killing their partner. However, a precedence should not be set as then self defence will then be the first thing a guilty party can use, therefore diminishing self defence plea.
This clearly shows the competence and capability of our force. Keep it up heroes!

depending on the offence and the age of the criminal. i think drug traffickers/peddlers/repeat abusers and actual cold blooded murderers get actual life sentences that means they stay in there till death.
or in some cases, when they have terminal illness, they get to live their remaining time outside. but thanks to medical care, these people live longer too. but good luck to them finding decent jobs.
