A lot of people aren't aware of using an EQ before a compressor to boost unwanted frequencies into the compressor to basically "De-ess" those frequencies. It's a neat sound. I'm pretty sure Chris Lord Algae used to do that with his SSL into an LA2A for his guitar sounds.

I like the Weiss De-esser as a mastering grade for getting high end clamp for a vinyl pressing but Softube's pricing on the Weiss stuff is just price WAY too high for digital products that are over 20 years old.
