Welcome guys and thank you so much for all the support so far! This is part 4 in a 4-part reaction special for you guys, to celebrate our 10k subs! There will be a bonus reaction tomorrow though, so stay tuned for that one! ;) PS: My apologies for the delay on this one today, had some technical problems. Hopefully it works now! ;)
I have said this before-- I have spent a lifetime in music from production to performance and THIS in my opinion (for whatever it's worth) is the finest composition/production of this young 21st century.
@@L3onOfKings Ooh that's a tough one. Overall probably go with Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue. I'd have a tough time coming up with one from the rock field as there's a LOT to choose from.
Couldn't agree more, it's brilliance is unmatched. The only competition, in my mind, is "Gates of Delirium" by Yes - a progressive take on War and Peace.
Nightwish had a gig last week in Oslo, Norway. During The Greates show on the earth, when the photos came on screen, the band made a tribute to Alexi Laiho's (ex COB- singer / quitarist) memory, who died a year ago. A great tribute and after that I appreciate Nightwish even more. Thx for you.❤🖤❤
All the different voice techniques and the amount of breath control - I don't know any other than Floor who are able to perform this song at this level. She is truly unique. That I can totally agree with….I have seen them 4 times and I walk away feeling I am complete. I was lucky on the Aussie tour of 2016 I heard live “while your lips are still red” which one of my faves I will never hear again!
@@susanjw7763 damn I'm jealous but I won't complain because I've seen them play the islander and I don't think I'll ever see them play that song live ever again specially without Marko.
Tuomas has stated that 3 songs will never be played live ever again “while your lips are still red, the islander (that was played on the 3 Aussie tours) and endlessness.”
My first time seeing your reaction channel. Enjoyed and have subscribed, based on this reaction. Definitely will be checking out your previous videos. Nightwish are a fantastic group that I have only discovered within the last 2 years. I’m in my 70’s and I rate them my most favourite group. Not to be taken lightly as I have heard quite a few ……… ❤️🤘🎸🇦🇺
Thx so much Steven! Really appreciate the support! And same here. I’ve known about them for quite a long time but only knew 1 song of them until the first lockdown. They’re so incredibly good at everything they do!😁👌
Absolutely. Another OG here and I discovered them shortly after lockdowns etc. began and they soon became my respite from the Pandemic. Next to their actual music reactions like the one here by @YBPlaysMusic (Shout out to you guys) are amongst my favorite things to watch.
Our tastes are similar mate... this is grand, but imo PatP is deep, and heart-touching, especially in Floor's execution... You know, for some 40 years i thought crying to the/about music is just another cliché, and it's never gonna happen to me, but then i found Nightwish... Guess one's never too old to find new things!
*WE ARE HERE* What a Great Fantastic Song. What an Energy ⚡ NIGHTWISH🔥🤘 never disappoints you. Tuomas is a Genius 🎶 Everything he composes Is AMAZING. And together they have with each other, such a BEAUTIFUL Show Created this is not normal. The background on stage, these images are so special!!! It was great and a nice gesture, to thank the Audience 🌟 Thank you so much Love from the Netherlands ❤️ 🤍 💙 🇳🇱 🙋🏼♀️
Marko has been battling depression for severar years and I guess he started feeling he should take care of himself before it gets worse. He's been pretty open about it in interviews and in his book.
Marko was also really depressed like we all were from the past 2 years of Covid. I am super sad he isn't in the band anymore but still stoked when they come to Denver, Colorado USA in May. I can't wait! If you want more Marko check out "The Islander" Live from Tampere. " Kiss, While your lips are still Red" from Wembley. Or go back to the beginning with "High Hopes" ( Pink Floyd Cover) or "Phantom of the Opera" with Marko and Tarya
Thanks guys! Here is the link to ‘High hopes’ th-cam.com/video/4oEDnVeYYyM/w-d-xo.html Another fabulous song is ‘Christmas truce’ by Sabaton, based on a real event during WW I. th-cam.com/video/HPdHkHslFIU/w-d-xo.html
I think the word you were looking for was 'composer' lol Great reaction guys always nice to see people being introduced to the bands we love Congrats for the 10K!
Great reaction guys! You know Floor’s parents were present too at this performance. Made it an extra happening for her she said in an interview. Btw I got into NW too when the first lockdown went in….at least a positive vibe out of Covid for us peeps 👍🏻🤟🏼🤟🏼
Thanks for you all the reaction...it is so true that one can not take this massive opus at once. But the more you dig in...the more you really understand the level of this. That is also right that one can hear small items and see also every time when you check these true. NW songs are so deep, intelligent and versatile. Lyrics are as well...
I totally agree! But they are really the total package I think. Everything they do is topnotch! The composition, the musicians, the singing, the live performances, their storytelling, their versatility, the level of detail,… it’s all as good as it can be. This makes it in my opinion the best band that I’ve ever heard.😌👌
You were wondering about the fireworks timing. The crew had click track running to their in ear, so they knew exactly when the correct time was to launch.
Troy is playing the Uillean Pipes (pronounced ill-inn), an Irish relative of the more well known Highland Bagpipes of Scotland. They have a sweeter sound and must be played sitting down. You guys should really invest in a good adblocker for your browser :D
You couldn't pick better song for Part 4 celebration of subs! Especially this one from Tampere 2015 live on their home base. Only thing you could have had subtitles/lyrics for to sink in the message of this magical masterpiece of them. As an ending of a show, what would be better like this one (?) 🤩 Cool reaction guys! Nicely noticed... - Keyboard stand: "I am Grooot!" 😹 Keep 'em coming män! Cheers from Finland 🇫🇮, the Mother Land of Nightwish 🤟😎
Stunning performance right? can't wait to see them live too! Also, it's always nice to see four handsome guys togheter btw, I hope this becomes more frequent 😊
Incredible indeed! Haha thx for the compliment! And no matter how much I’d love to do this format more often, our schedules don’t match up very often so it’s hard to arrange this, sadly! But perhaps at some point in the future, you never know😌
I'm very late here, but intentionally, because i trusted that you can handle this mammoth of a song with your friends. And you did! This song about the whole of the Evolution is something that no one other than the mighty Nightwish can or want to do. That's why it's so special. Well done and greetings from the snowy Northern Finland! ⛄❄👍
Troy can play on almost everything you put in his hands. He is a genius. Marcos beard is more like Gimli. Floors dress on this show has actually two reasons behind it. The colours are the finnish national colours, blue and white. The white pattern on the dress is symbolizing DNA.
The beginning is not the 'Bing Bang'. The first part is called 4.6 (billion years) and the Earth and our solar system is just formed. The fireworks portraits the massive bombardement of comets and asteroids on Earth in those early beginnings. There are many music snippets in the last part. Also Mongolian Throat Singing comes along. In the Wembley version this is clearer.
Troy plays (not all as a master though) the following instruments: Uilleann Pipes Bouzouki Low Whistles Portugese Mandola Tin Whistles Keyboards Acoustic Guitar Bodhran Electric Guitar(with E-bow also) Aerophone Troys acoustic guitar Fylde Oberon OH! and he sings too Straight copy of Troys interview: Q: What would you like to be able to play that you can’t already (if there is anything!) A: Ice Hockey !!
How could you miss harmonium, pump organ, cittern and bass guitar from that list? Also, he produces for a number of artists and has composed three albums' worth of original orchestral/choral work.
@@phillee2814 LOL, you are very right about cittern and bass quitar, I really should update my list! Pump organ and harmonium are same thing, Believe me Phil, I've sung hymns and Christmas Carrols since age of seven accompanied by pump organ (bless you mrs. Korkeakoski). Neverever again 🤓. I still think he's not playing ice hockey, but he may surprise us?
Your friend nailed it. I also think it is supposed tp be Groot. On a cross as a sacrifice to humanities need for wood. Tuomas is a nature lover. I think it is not the big bang, but rather the coalescing of our solar system. This part is called 4.6. As in 4.6 billion years, which is the approximate age of our planet. You should have chosen the version with lyrics. Congratulations on 10K. You are already up to 12.4K. Loved it!
Thx so much Thorgrim! I didn’t know about the 4.6 part, thx for the info!😁👌 Well, I didn’t find that version for some reason, but it could indeed have been handy…😅 glad you enjoyed it though!😌
In Wembley Live version Richard Dawkings was there on stage after the song, talking these verses live to the audience. That Wembley version has also better sound quality and you can hear those backround effects better. This version has better lightshow and pyro's.
For me the biggest difference is the intro; Tampere flute by Troy and cello on the backing track and Wembley Troy on the electric guitar with the (I forgot the name, that little thing that you can use to imitate the sound of a bow on a guitar) and no flute.
Thank you from Finland. Another Finnish band. BATTLE BEAST - Master Of Illusion official music video 2021. Noora Louhimo for me One of the best metal vocalist at this moment !!!
Just for now, it is my duty to introduce you to some info about the lyrics. Lyrics are in " " [Part 1: Four point Six] "Archaean horizon, The first sunrise" Earth's history is divided into four principal Eons: the Hadean, the Archean, Proterozoic, and the Phanerozoic. The Hadean is the Eon during which the Earth and Moon formed; in the Archaean, primordial life appeared. Https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Earth "On a pristine gaea" Gaia is the primordial Greek goddess of the Earth. More recently, the Gaia hypothesis is a recognition of the living and nonliving Earth systems which form an interdependent whole. Https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaia "Opus perfectum, Somewhere there, us sleeping" Pristine perfection (of silence, of a blank page, of the very point from which the big bang itself sprung) implies a rich creative potential. Here Earth is painted in the same powerful way. Diversity awaits; unborn beings are sleeping the same sleep to which they will return at death. This interpretation is thematically linked with the album's opening track, "Shudder before the Beautiful," which includes the lyrics, "The music of this awe, Deep silence between the notes, Deafens me with endless love." Or as the furious hobbit screamed at the novice trumpeter, "An artist respects the silence, it serves as the foundation of creativity." [Part 2: Life] "The cosmic law of gravity Pulled the newborns around a fire, A careless cold infinity in every vast direction. Lonely farer in the Goldilocks zone" Gravity pulls Earth and the other planets around the energizing Sun in an otherwise inhospitable universe. Earth is the only planet in our solar system's circumstellar habitable zone, orbiting at the "just right, not too hot, not too cold" distance from the Sun. Https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Circumstellar_habitable_zone "She has a tale to tell, From the stellar nursery into a carbon feast, Enter LUCA" In astronomy, stellar nurseries are the birthplaces of stars: they nurse stars Https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_formation#Stellar_nurseries Poetically, our solar system is another "stellar nursery," in which a star is the nurse, caring for and warming a planet of 'newborns,' early carbon-based life. "Feast" evokes the incorporation of plentiful chemical building blocks into rudimentary life forms. "LUCA" stands for "Last universal common ancestor," the one single organism from which all other presently existing life on Earth descended. Https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Last_universal_ancestor "The tapestry of chemistry is a writing in the garden, Leading us to the mother of all" The periodic table of elements does look like a sort of patchwork tapestry, but this can go further. The historical function of tapestries was as "nomadic murals," pictographical histories which moving people could pack up and revisit wherever they went. The "writing in the garden," in nature, is not only the stone murals left by dead animals in the form of fossils, but is also this chemical writing that encodes the relatively nomadic DNA molecule with the instructions for life. The scientific investigation of this information leads us back to LUCA, and further. Https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tapestry#Function "We are one, We are a universe," This is the natural conclusion to draw from the fact that life shares common origin, that all life is built with the same blocks, and that all life on Earth is interdependent (gaia hypothesis). The multiplicity of beings on Earth are one, just as the cells in a body are one. "Forebears of what will be Scions of the Devonian sea." The Devonian geologic time period marked the first significant, rapid diversification of life (and the more well-known Cambrian explosion is another of these 'adaptive radiation' events). It was during the Devonian that the 'higher plants' appeared and blanketed the continents with forests. Https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Devonian . The word "scion" refers to a shoot of a plant cut for grafting, and is also used to denote a descendent of a notable family. Both meanings apply. "Aeons pass, Writing the tale of us all. A day-to-day new opening For the greatest show on Earth" Evolutionary adaptation is written in the DNA and as fossils in the rocks, and is ongoing. Species die, diversifiy and delineate. Every day is different, every day something changes. "Ion channels welcoming the outside world To the stuff of stars" Ion channels are found in the membranes of all cells, controlling the flow of energy through the cells. The stuff of stars is all the physical matter we're made of. So it's the ion channels, guiding enery, which allow living bodies to interact with the rest of the world by exchanging energy with it. "Stuff of stars" is surely a Sagan reference: "The nitrogen in our DNA, the calcium in our teeth, the iron in our blood, the carbon in our apple pies were made in the interiors of collapsing stars. We are made of starstuff." For fun: th-cam.com/video/XGK84Poeynk/w-d-xo.html "Bedding the tree of a biological holy, Enter life" The bed of a tree is the nutrient-rich soil from which it grows, a soil made of dead things. The "tree of a biological holy" is probably the tree of life en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tree_of_life_(biology) . This line refers to the "holy" legendary tree of everlasting life but also means the conceptual, branching family tree of all life, whose bed consists of all deceased beings (in a more literal sense), or all extinct ancestral species (in a more abstract sense). This is thematically linked with the song "Alpenglow." "We are here to care for the garden, The wonder of birth Of every form most beautiful" "We" could be human beings tasked with acting as nature's stewards, garden of eden style, but that's not chronological -- human beings haven't quite appeared in the song yet. "We" could instead be all of life itself, in a gaia-philosophy sense, which posits that life creates environments ever more hospitable to more life. Https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaia_philosophy Or maybe it's a combination of these two thoughts: life eventually creates an environment suitable for the development of consiously acting, thinking human stewards. [Part 3: The Toolmaker] "After a billion years, The show is still here. Not a single one of your fathers died young." Every single one of a given person's ancestors, male and female, lived past puberty at least. But "fathers" evokes "forefathers," which has a nicer storytelling ring to it than "parents." "The handy travelers Out of Africa Little Lucy of the Afar" Handymen are good with tools; travelers posessing hands rather than forefeet walk upright. Hominids originated in Africa and spread to the rest of the world from there. Lucy is a particular specimen of the Australopithecus, one of many "missing links" between modern humans and nonhuman ancestors. Https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucy_(Australopithecus) "Gave birth to fantasy, To idolatry, To self-destructive weaponry. Enter the God of gaps Deep within the past. Atavistic dread of the hunted!" The brain grows, consciousness and creativity along with it. Atavism is the tendency to revert to ancestral type, an evolutionary throwback. Fight-or-flight instincts that helped human ancestors survive have now been creatively projected onto the world to both explain it (origins, meaning, suffering) and gain security in it (bargaining through sacrifice). These are the roots of theism. Https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atavism "Enter Ionia, the cradle of thought, The architecture of understanding. The human lust to feel so exceptional, To rule the Earth" Nomadic people develop agriculture and settle down into civilizations. The word "architecture" is at once both literal and figurative. The efficiency of civilization graces people with free time to do more than just feed themselves. They develop rich cultural traditions, arts and philosophies, much of which are deeply influenced by how different humans now are from all the rest of life. "Hunger for shiny rocks, For giant mushroom clouds, The will to do as you'd be done by." Shiny rocks are wealth: gold, precious stones, jewels, and later uranium which leads to the nuclear arms race. The golden rule -- "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" -- is a coin with a dark side: "an eye for an eye," revenge. This ensures the "MAD"ness of mutually assured destruction. Https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mutual_assured_destruction "Enter history, the grand finale. Enter ratkind." "Ratkind" comes from Richard Dawkins' book "The Ancestor's Tale." Dawkins imagines a post-apocalyptic world in which rodents feast on the remnants of humanity (and humanity's garbage). The rat population explodes, and then as they exhaust these resources they turn on one another for food. As a consequence of natural selection, the rats diverge into new carnivorous and herbivorous species, and perhaps, eventually, a specices of rodent whose intelligence rivals that of humans. This is "ratkind." Https://iberianature.com/wildworld/tag/ratkind/ "Man, he took his time in the sun, Had a dream to understand A single grain of sand." From William Blake: "To see a World in a Grain of Sand, And a Heaven in a Wild Flower, Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand And Eternity in an hour." ...And the story of the planet in 24 minutes. Not bad. "He gave birth to poetry, But one day'll cease to be. Greet the last light of the library" A bittersweet redundancy: poetry with library, the last light with ceasing to be. Reminiscent of Elan: "Be the first to greet the morn [...] Travel with great élan, dance a jig at the funeral." "We were here!" Who else is going to vote for this song's inclusion on the next Voyager golden record, if there'll ever be one? I want to beam this song into space forever.
Omg loa, haha thx for all the info! I know a couple of things about this one already, but I’m sure there is still a lot foe me to learn about this masterpiece!👌
It's not really the start of the Universe. The song focuses on the the creation of our planet and our solar system. The firework bangs is the asteroid/meteor bombardment that many now thinks brought the primal building blocks for life to earth. The fireworks was synced with a pyrotechnician having the clicks in his in-ear monitors firing them manually. Apparently they tested it the day before. And skip YT premium, just get an adblock extension for your browser and you'll never see an YT ad again, I haven't for 10 years :D
Guy on the left is the one you avoid going to movies with. You'll never be able to absorb the full experience because he's in your ear, talking through the whole damn thing; breaking any and all tension to be had lol
Well, first of all, why would you even go to the movies if you’ve already seen the movie? Second, you probably are aware that I have to pause now and then for copyright purposes? Third, this is a song that’s usually very hard for a first listener to fully understand and appreciate so in my opinion it adds more value if you know a little bit what it’s about. Fourth, whilst you might not appreciate the way I do this, others might do, this is subjective. Fifth, I assume you only watched the first 5 minutes of the song? Because over the whole thing, I didn’t pause that many times.
The "Big Bang" isn't, as the first section is entitled four point six, which is the age of the earth, so does not go back as far as the start of the Universe - it is best interpreted as the asteroid collision which gave us our moon - essential to life on earth as it created tides. The later ones are the late Hadeon bombardment of smaller asteroids which brought elements to the earth which life cannot exist without. As you said, there are far too many scientific and cultural references in the lyrics to detail, but I'm sure the collected comments will have a good try! In this song alone, Troy plays the low whistle, uilleann pipes, and vocal harmonies. He can play pretty much anything you can get a tune from, and a few you'd never imagine. He has never claimed to play the flute though (although I'm certain he could if he wanted to). The closing reading by Richard Dawkins is the closing passage from "On The Origin Of Species" by Charles Darwin, the giant on whose shoulders his entire field of study stands.
Dimash is an amazing singer with an incredible range but doesn't have Floor's empathy and just has to fill every song with vocal gymnastics which I find so annoying whereas Floor has so much soul in everything she sings.
Agree. It's like a technically perfect pianist. But technique is not everything, because musical versatility (how much different content you can convey from a song) and interpretation also counts. At the end of the day, what the listener feels matters. Is it just beautiful singing or something more.
@@Jutubowiec1 agreed.Heinrich Schiff was probably technically one of the greatest cellists ever and extremely impressive to witness but Jacqueline du Pré and Yo Yo Ma ,while also very technically proficient can make you feel the cello in your soul and that’s the whole point..
Dimash is an incredible singer and I was enormously impressed when I saw him at first but in my opinion he's also a bit of a poser "look what I can do"... You know? "Look mama, no hands"... He is great at playing the audience as an actor, his emotions aren't real, a bit standoffish. His rendition of SOS is technically flawless but he has no clue what he is singing, for the emotion (desperation) and the empathy/feeling of the lyrics I prefer the Balavoine version, which is technically lesser.
Vitas is better, his pitch is perfect and voice crystal clear. He doesn't slide off notes or cut them short. Outstanding male soprano. Dimash unfortunately is a show pony and it's always about him, never the song, so agree with you on those comments.
@@klatuubarada3122 Absolutely agree and why I always say he is a show pony. Vitas has a much cleaner sound, with crystal clear notes and pitch perfect.
If you want to hear him sing, with nightwish, then do phantom of the opera, the one with tarja, or look up his other band, northern kings, they are amazing also, like everything Marko does. He is great in this song also, and he doesn’t get the credit he should…and him in this one, other songs, is after a botched surgery that messed up his voice, supposedly, not saying he or others is wrong, but he is still the pinnacle of a male singer to me, not diminished at all, just a little different now, but so damn amazing. I have heard what I believe is some of his songs from before then, he is of course epic, and to me, only sounds slightly different, but I’m not the best judge, as I’m pretty tone deaf these days, I worked on attack helicopters in the US military, they are loud and damage your hearing some, even a fair amount, with proper, required hearing protection, based on your job. Mine, was avionics, we need the headset with speakers, so it wrecks our hearing, worse than other jobs for the same aircraft, they don’t have speakers and what not, that takes away from hearing protection. Most of my mid and high range is garbage now, I can’t hear it, or tell clearly what is being said/sung. Not well anyways. I used to have perfect pitch, could hear a song a couple times and play it, on wood winds, my older sister was great at playing clarinet, I learned on that, before I was in elementary school, just talented that way, lucky. Anyways, was always in band from when I could be, until I graduated, also football, American and cross country. But I could just listen and play, learn it easy. Could even sing decently despite not ever being in choir and learning it. Now I’m fairly deaf in ranges, and at least an octave off, as I can’t tell. Annoying and shitty, at least I did one of the things I wanted too, even if it caused my current issues.
Like I never truly learned to read music…after I knew how to play clarinet and other similar wood winds, and the very basics of sheet music, I just listened and played along a couple times, then I knew it and could play it solo, or with everyone else. So it gives me a lot of trouble now, not being able to hear worth a damn anymore. Like I know they’re singing, it does sound good, but st times, it just sounds off and broken, as it seems mainly to high/I lose what they or others are saying, and I can’t tell for sure, so need subtitles.
Love your reactions. You need to react to an amazing singer...Marcelito Pomoy singing The Prayer on the Wishbus. You won’t believe what you are hearing. And no vocal training. Also has AGT the Champios performances, but watch The Prayer first, you will see why. Watch soon, he has a huge fan base. Please and thank you. 👍👍👍
Let's said that before you listen to any Nightwish song you should do your homework what comes to the band and the story of the song. Listen to the song only after this and you will get so much more out of the song.
Not Highland Bagpipes, or Irish Great or War Pipes, Northumberland Smallpipes or Scottish Lowland Pipes, but ALL are bagpipes - it is a family, not one instrument.
Because I prefer this one over the one from Wembley, just slightly🙂 the fireworks and such give it something extra I think.🙂 but love the Wembley one as well!
I love this performance so much; however, there is another version that has Richard Dawkins on stage, and it is so emotional for me. By the way, maybe you are prepared for Ayreon. You should check it.
Yes I know, I’ve seen that one too and loved it as well! Though Tampere just slightly more.🙂 Thx for the suggestion! Perhaps yes, Ayreon has been suggested before, just haven’t gotten to them yet.😛
Please react to an all female heavy metal band from Japan called Lovebites. They sing in English and have two phenomenal guitarists. Please reaact to their song "Holy War" the live version: th-cam.com/video/bgAxpEpEcno/w-d-xo.html
Sadly, their drummer passed away, and Marko left, because of the producers/industry as a whole…they are still good, but not the same, not epic, not as absurdly good as they were, I also include Tarja and Annette in the same category as with Floor and the others. They are all a great, but without Marko, and Jukko….just not the same.
A couple of days ago, I kinda forced a friend to watch the whole show, my goal being to make him agree with me on the fact that Floor is quite possibly the best Female singer... fuck it, the best singer ever. He is not convinced and starts pointing up at names like Amy Lee, Ann Wilson, Lara Fabian, Freddy Mercury, and so on. I wasn't sure how to respond at first, but after thinking about it for a little bit, I asked him: name me one singer other than Floor capable of singing the setlist you just experience at the same level Floor does. I'm still waiting for the answer. I leave the question open here. One rule, though, claiming that singer X is/was obviously capable of doing if requested/needed, or something to that effect does not count. You have to provide proof of singer X actually doing .

@@L3onOfKings Ooh that's a tough one. Overall probably go with Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue. I'd have a tough time coming up with one from the rock field as there's a LOT to choose from.
I would put The Poet and the Pendulum up there, too. Maybe not as intricate as TGSOE but very, very powerful.

My first time seeing your reaction channel. Enjoyed and have subscribed, based on this reaction. Definitely will be checking out your previous videos. This is by far the best reaction vidoe. You guys were well informed about all what was needed: band, Dawkins, story of the song, etc. Excellent
This possibly the second best epic song by Nightwish for me. The Poet And The Pendulum sung by Floor is my favourite.
Haha well, and that one just happens to be my second favorite! So I guess we have a similar taste!😜
Our tastes are similar mate... this is grand, but imo PatP is deep, and heart-touching, especially in Floor's execution...

They can really tell a story. The whole evolution lived through in a single concert. A tribute to life in all its forms :-)
Marko has been battling depression for severar years and I guess he started feeling he should take care of himself before it gets worse. He's been pretty open about it in interviews and in his book.
my own theory is alexi laihos death was a tipping point for him.
I was here , you were there and we all enjoyed Nightwish! Great reaction guys now go out and get some fresh air lol ✌️
That song started in the afternoon and ended at night .. soo Epic so awesome

Great reaction guys! You know Floor’s parents were present too at this performance. Made it an extra happening for her she said in an interview.

Troy can play on almost everything you put in his hands. He is a genius. Marcos beard is more like Gimli. Floors dress on this show has actually two reasons behind it. The colours are the finnish national colours, blue and white. The white pattern on the dress is symbolizing DNA.

Thx so much Arton! Glad you enjoyed it!😁
The beginning is not the 'Bing Bang'.
I LIKE THE DUDE ON THE ENDS HAIR, I DONT HAVE ANY SO THERE YOU GO.
I only have about 30 years left to live, so have decided to only watch Nightwish (with Floor) reactions.
Troy plays (not all as a master though)

Uilleann Pipes Bouzouki
Low Whistles Portugese Mandola
Tin Whistles Keyboards
Acoustic Guitar Bodhran
Electric Guitar(with E-bow also)
Aerophone
Troys acoustic guitar Fylde Oberon
OH! and he sings too

Q: What would you like to be able to play that you can’t already (if there is anything!)
A: Ice Hockey !!

Loved it!

That is awesome!🤪👌
Just for now, it is my duty to introduce you to some info about the lyrics.
Lyrics are in " "
[Part 1: Four point Six]
"Archaean horizon, The first sunrise"
Earth's history is divided into four principal Eons: the Hadean, the Archean, Proterozoic, and the Phanerozoic. The Hadean is the Eon during which the Earth and Moon formed; in the Archaean, primordial life appeared. Https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Earth
"On a pristine gaea"
Gaia is the primordial Greek goddess of the Earth. More recently, the Gaia hypothesis is a recognition of the living and nonliving Earth systems which form an interdependent whole. Https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaia
"Opus perfectum, Somewhere there, us sleeping" Pristine perfection (of silence, of a blank page, of the very point from which the big bang itself sprung) implies a rich creative potential. Here Earth is painted in the same powerful way. Diversity awaits; unborn beings are sleeping the same sleep to which they will return at death. This interpretation is thematically linked with the album's opening track, "Shudder before the Beautiful," which includes the lyrics, "The music of this awe, Deep silence between the notes, Deafens me with endless love." Or as the furious hobbit screamed at the novice trumpeter, "An artist respects the silence, it serves as the foundation of creativity."
[Part 2: Life]
"The cosmic law of gravity Pulled the newborns around a fire, A careless cold infinity in every vast direction. Lonely farer in the Goldilocks zone"
Gravity pulls Earth and the other planets around the energizing Sun in an otherwise inhospitable universe. Earth is the only planet in our solar system's circumstellar habitable zone, orbiting at the "just right, not too hot, not too cold" distance from the Sun. Https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Circumstellar_habitable_zone
"She has a tale to tell, From the stellar nursery into a carbon feast, Enter LUCA"
In astronomy, stellar nurseries are the birthplaces of stars: they nurse stars Https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_formation#Stellar_nurseries
Poetically, our solar system is another "stellar nursery," in which a star is the nurse, caring for and warming a planet of 'newborns,' early carbon-based life. "Feast" evokes the incorporation of plentiful chemical building blocks into rudimentary life forms. "LUCA" stands for "Last universal common ancestor," the one single organism from which all other presently existing life on Earth descended. Https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Last_universal_ancestor
"The tapestry of chemistry is a writing in the garden, Leading us to the mother of all"
The periodic table of elements does look like a sort of patchwork tapestry, but this can go further. Https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tapestry#Function
"We are one, We are a universe,"
This is the natural conclusion to draw from the fact that life shares common origin, that all life is built with the same blocks, and that all life on Earth is interdependent (gaia hypothesis). The multiplicity of beings on Earth are one, just as the cells in a body are one.
"Forebears of what will be Scions of the Devonian sea."
The Devonian geologic time period marked the first significant, rapid diversification of life (and the more well-known Cambrian explosion is another of these 'adaptive radiation' events). It was during the Devonian that the 'higher plants' appeared and blanketed the continents with forests. Https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Devonian
. The word "scion" refers to a shoot of a plant cut for grafting, and is also used to denote a descendent of a notable family. Both meanings apply.
"Aeons pass, Writing the tale of us all. A day-to-day new opening For the greatest show on Earth"
Evolutionary adaptation is written in the DNA and as fossils in the rocks, and is ongoing. Species die, diversifiy and delineate. Every day is different, every day something changes.
"Ion channels welcoming the outside world To the stuff of stars"
Ion channels are found in the membranes of all cells, controlling the flow of energy through the cells. We are made of starstuff." For fun: th-cam.com/video/XGK84Poeynk/w-d-xo.html
"Bedding the tree of a biological holy, Enter life"
The bed of a tree is the nutrient-rich soil from which it grows, a soil made of dead things. The "tree of a biological holy" is probably the tree of life en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tree_of_life_(biology)
. This line refers to the "holy" legendary tree of everlasting life but also means the conceptual, branching family tree of all life, whose bed consists of all deceased beings (in a more literal sense), or all extinct ancestral species (in a more abstract sense). This is thematically linked with the song "Alpenglow."
"We are here to care for the garden, The wonder of birth Of every form most beautiful"
"We" could be human beings tasked with acting as nature's stewards, garden of eden style, but that's not chronological -- human beings haven't quite appeared in the song yet. "We" could instead be all of life itself, in a gaia-philosophy sense, which posits that life creates environments ever more hospitable to more life. Https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaia_philosophy
Or maybe it's a combination of these two thoughts: life eventually creates an environment suitable for the development of consiously acting, thinking human stewards.
[Part 3: The Toolmaker]
"After a billion years, The show is still here. Not a single one of your fathers died young."
Every single one of a given person's ancestors, male and female, lived past puberty at least. But "fathers" evokes "forefathers," which has a nicer storytelling ring to it than "parents."
"The handy travelers Out of Africa Little Lucy of the Afar"
Handymen are good with tools; travelers posessing hands rather than forefeet walk upright. Hominids originated in Africa and spread to the rest of the world from there. Lucy is a particular specimen of the Australopithecus, one of many "missing links" between modern humans and nonhuman ancestors.
"Gave birth to fantasy, To idolatry, To self-destructive weaponry. Enter the God of gaps Deep within the past. Atavistic dread of the hunted!"
The brain grows, consciousness and creativity along with it.
"Enter Ionia, the cradle of thought, The architecture of understanding. The human lust to feel so exceptional, To rule the Earth"
Nomadic people develop agriculture and settle down into civilizations. The word "architecture" is at once both literal and figurative. The efficiency of civilization graces people with free time to do more than just feed themselves. They develop rich cultural traditions, arts and philosophies, much of which are deeply influenced by how different humans now are from all the rest of life.
"Hunger for shiny rocks, For giant mushroom clouds, The will to do as you'd be done by."
Shiny rocks are wealth: gold, precious stones, jewels, and later uranium which leads to the nuclear arms race. The golden rule -- "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" -- is a coin with a dark side: "an eye for an eye," revenge. This ensures the "MAD"ness of mutually assured destruction. Https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mutual_assured_destruction
"Enter history, the grand finale. Enter ratkind."
"Ratkind" comes from Richard Dawkins' book "The Ancestor's Tale." Dawkins imagines a post-apocalyptic world in which rodents feast on the remnants of humanity (and humanity's garbage). The rat population explodes, and then as they exhaust these resources they turn on one another for food. As a consequence of natural selection, the rats diverge into new carnivorous and herbivorous species, and perhaps, eventually, a specices of rodent whose intelligence rivals that of humans. This is "ratkind." Https://iberianature.com/wildworld/tag/ratkind/
"Man, he took his time in the sun, Had a dream to understand A single grain of sand."
From William Blake: "To see a World in a Grain of Sand, And a Heaven in a Wild Flower, Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand And Eternity in an hour." ...And the story of the planet in 24 minutes. Not bad.
"He gave birth to poetry, But one day'll cease to be. Greet the last light of the library"
A bittersweet redundancy: poetry with library, the last light with ceasing to be. Reminiscent of Elan: "Be the first to greet the morn [...] Travel with great élan, dance a jig at the funeral."
"We were here!"
Who else is going to vote for this song's inclusion on the next Voyager golden record, if there'll ever be one?
There's a version with subs on yt
Sadly I didn’t find it for the reaction😅
This is why we watch reactions, to hear other opinions . If you dont want commentary watch the official video.

The wembley version actually has Dawkins stand on stage and speak.
❤️

Indeed. Those are the Irish Uilleann bagpipes, not the Scotish Highland variety.
Not Highland Bagpipes, or Irish Great or War Pipes, Northumberland Smallpipes or Scottish Lowland Pipes, but ALL are bagpipes - it is a family, not one instrument.
Sorry to contradict you but Troy is NOT from UK He's from Ireland
Oh really? Then I must be misinformed😛 It wouldn’t be strange at all that he’d be from Ireland indeed, they have some Irish vibes I think as well😛

Hi, your mic volume is way to loud compared to the music video, it would be much better for the listener for the volumes to be more balanced...
I know, the volumes for this one were a little out of balance indeed.
Pls react The Last Of The Mohicans (Alip Ba Ta Fingerstyle Cover)

That’s a organ, that’s a shoe, that’s a beard, that’s a guitar string🥴
The music level is a bit low.
Yes indeed, I perhaps lowered it a bit too much, sorry, my bad…
Live at Wembley Ft Richard Dawkins is much better
