Thank you for a good video both ‘show and tell’. I appreciated your insight in when to use each way and why.

Thanks for this straight forward and useful info. Please provide me with information on mickleburg pianos.

@@dukegoodwin4800 Thanks for your comment. Unfortunately, I have no personal experience with that brand of pianos. A quick internet search brought me to this article, which might potentially be useful to you: www.thepianoshopbath.co.uk/uncategorized/investigating-a-mickleburgh-piano/

Interesting video. While I’ve seen many pianists remove the the music desk for performing (and occasionally for practicing) with the lid in various positions, in all my years I’ve never known anyone take the music desk out and place it on top of the closed lid.

Thanks a lot for your appreciation and the comment. 😊
In fact, I learned about putting the music desk on top of the closed lid from one of my professors, Swiss pianist Michael Studer. As I mentioned in the video, I also saw other famous pianists doing this (you will find examples here on YT).
I used to practice like this for many years, also because my grand piano was in a smallish room. These days, I still practice like this often, but I also like to vary and see what it changes.

@@oliveemilwetter8387 I can see it having its advantages; being higher promotes good posture and you get the dampening effect of the lid being fully closed vs folded. Being both partially sighted and having a shorter torso than most I’ve often struggled to read sheet music when it’s on the desk even in the lower position with the lid folded so I wouldn’t be able to used it on top of a closed lid.
As for the names of the stops / props / lid positions, my teacher called the shortest one the accompaniment stop, and the middle one the chamber stop.

@@mikeward1701 Oh yes, ergonomics at the piano is another interesting and important topic!
Thanks for having shared the names of the lids positions! I believe these fit really well!
