WhatsApp app itself backup eat up my system data storage which give me problem of not enough storage. Now I switch to entire phone backup to iCloud.

When I go to backup my phone I get an alert saying WhatsApp data in particular is not supported in the iCloud backup. And sure enough on my new iPhone, WhatsApp is literally the only thing that will not transfer From my old iPhone. And the WhatsApp back app through the app says I don’t have enough space. I think the main issue about WhatsApp not finding the media is not the Backup rather it is the restore. I have backed up and trying to restore and no matter what I do al the media is missing. and that a restoring issue more than a backup issue

I still have ? On Whattsap media even after iCloud backup
Daniel, I have issues becuase of lack of space... when trying the backup vía whatsapp the app tells me I need to free up 30 gb of space from my iphone, which I can't becuase that space is taken up by the whatsapp app. Meaning, I could only have 30gb free if deleting the app. Which doesn't make sense. I only want to backup whatsapp. sooooo..... if I do the Icloud backup technique, will it help? event if whatsapp app is not letting me do so because of lack of space??

I never like to mix full backups to iphone. This way you dont fall slave to the icloud lords to buy in to their cloud storage.

But I can’t seem to delete the icloud data from the in app WhatsApp back up. Within manage account storage - WhatsApp messenger - delete data the warning message says “this will delete all data for this app stored on the iPhone AND in iCloud.

I have lost password. Deleted and installed app and try install and restore. Four time guessed wrong password, fifth time wrong password the app says the back up will be deleted. Is that true? Man, you forgot to mention THE MOST IMPORTANT THING EVER ON THIS TOPIC. So the risk is you make lotta people lose everything while being sure they're having all stuff back by the way you explained it. That's clearly showed down below in the comments by all those who'd written it didn't work for them. So, going straight to the point: it ONLY will work IF you UNSET whatsapp switch in the setting/name/iCloud list BEFORE going for the iCloud backup. Otherwise: bye bye data! So mind that people.

@@annemarie8184 exactly as I tell in the message: you go in settings/ your appleid at the top /iCloud and then you look for whatsapp and you put the green switch to gray. So off. Done that ( and ONLY by doing that) you'll get the whatsapp data into the iCloud Backup.

I did a full iPhone backuo because my Whatsapp was hanged, with nothing to be done except deleting it. So when I reinstalled it, i lost chats even though i did the full iphone backup 😔

While in restore process make sure that your phone in good network, i have to repeat this process 3 time in order to succeed restored the media

Hello none of this worked with me .. WhatsApp didn’t help me as well they keep referring me to their help page which didn’t help at all.. this video is good and has all kind of troubleshooting but didn’t work with me .. what i did is that i went to my older phone which has all texts videos pics .. etc .. you have to use the same sim card attached to the account and same iCloud attached to it .. then do a backup from old phone to iCloud.. make sure u have enough space .. after it is already been in the cloud ..
then open WhatsApp in the new phone insert ur phone number then restore..it should work if it didn’t work try to turn off and turn on the iCloud drive (this worked with me)
The key to success: have a good internet connect , no interruptions once u start restoring and have enough space in iCloud and phone
