  • The Maxim-Tokarev light machine gun was developed in the early 1920s in the Soviet Union as an emergency measure to meet the army's light machine gun needs, but it was not widely used due to its excessive weight, maintenance issues, and outdated design. Despite its shortcomings, it was provided to other countries in need of weapons and equipment, including China and Spain, and played a role in World War II.
The machine gun, weighing 12.9 kilograms, was eventually replaced by the DP-27 machine gun, which was lighter and more reliable, making the Maxim-Tokarev a short-lived and relatively rare product in the history of light machine guns.
