Interesting, the last revision of the 2UZ-FE has variable length intake runners that I’m assuming do the same job as these?

Was the 2uz only in the 200 series or could you get it in 100 series?

You're right....and semi wrong. Long intake runners create torque at low revs, short runners produce power at high revs. Its effectively a manifold length changer.

Are you sure you aren't confusing exhaust length torque? At least for the 1hd-fte the length change on the inlet side is negligible but the curved intake cast into the block is profound. For this engine it's all about the air fuel mixing and not about length.

I see I also have swirl flaps on mine too. Having done this mod do you think it's been worthwhile power wise, I know it hasn't solved your smoking problem . I've not seen any one else do this on a 1HDfte so I guess it's UK thing.

I'm actually working on another video about this - since I'm doing it again on my new 100 series. I can't say that it makes any difference power wise, since the airflow is only blocked about 5% of the area. Also, these toyota ones are made very well so they're not likely to disintegrate like the BMW plastic jobs.

is it good to get ur engine decoked carbon cleaned

It's always a good idea to have less carbon buildup , but it isn't always worth the money to get it done. It isn't going to deliver an immediate change like fuel economy or big power gains.

@@landcruiserscotlandWhat if the carbon build up was really bad? I’m assuming this would result in a pretty significant reduced airflow.
