The funniest thing about some of the people in these retreats is the fact that many of them are so attached to the idea of "the ego" and how they're separate from the ego. Never realising that the person that we're talking to IS "the ego". It doesn't have a separate agency. It's just you and you. You're not possessed by an outside spirit. It's the same you, when identified as a separate entity, appears as though possesed by something dead and when identified as awareness, appears as though pinnacle of total freedom devoid of limitations.
Not to mention, if youve been activated via Shakti, the process cant be stopped, and from the moment of activation, the transmutational process has already begun, and you will know that it cant be undone. Even if it kills you, or better yet, you fail to surrender and subsequently cannot handle the alterations to body and mind. My experience was sudden and unbelievably dramatic and intense. The ultimatum is surrender or fail/perish. At least in my experience and others similar. Interest only mattered in order to set oneself up for the awakening, and until 3rd eye cracked open and Shakti began to rumble.
The life (the same life) can be spiritual journey or usual, daily routine. It is necessary to make a little shift in mindset, in the frame of reference and the life will become our sadhana, our unique spiritual adventure.
I have a some very sharp questions: Where does anything less than love (such as fear, or any form of suffering) come from if there is nothing but love to begin with (from all spiritual teachings: there is nothing but love/unity/oneness).And spiritual teachers would just say: "Because it's your ego, your human side." But again, WHERE did these come from if we all were love and nothing but love to begin with. Then they probably would say:" it's from the veil of forgetfulness. We completely forget that we are love, that's when we will do things less than love." But then, if we are love how can we ever do anything so much less than love if love is our ONLY TRUE nature? Also, they say earth is a school for growth, with pain we learn and grow. But existence is INFINITE with INFINITE possibilities, so aren't there infinite ways to grow without pain, so is pain really necessary at all? Then many teachers would say: "it's because earth is a hard school so here you learn much faster than learning without any pain." But existence is ETERNAL, does how much time it takes to learn really matter at all? So none of these explanations from any spiritual teacher truly resolves my confusion. When I suffer or see people suffer (from things much much less than love that people do in this world) I just keep asking, WHERE does all these (ego, fear, complete selfishness, generational trauma, pain ect.) originate from and is all this pain really necessary? Rupert has said, the only reason why we suffer is because we resist what's happening. But the thing is, how can I not wonder, be confused, upset, seeing the world's suffering (rape, murder of children, abuse)? I might be able to say yes and not resist all this (there's nothing I can do anyway), but my question still remains: WHERE do all these originates from and HOW can people, whose only true nature is nothing but love, do so many things so outrageously less than love? The question is WHERE does any of this originate from, if the ultimate reality is nothing but unconditional love/oneness/unity. I haven't yet found an answer and I won't stop asking. I have not much doubt that the actual, real answer will satisfy me and make me understand it all. I just don't know when it will be revealed to me. And I also can never buy into things from spiritual teachers like "we are here for growth/expansion/soul's evolution" , because following the logic I've written, none of these convinces me. I'm surprised to find most people satisfy with all those explanations of the true meaning of our lives from those spiritual teachers. I hope you could give me an answer. Thank you. I hope more people could ask deeper and deeper questions so I wouldn't feel so alone on this
@JakeandLarmi Yes! Very honest and beautiful questions! If you keep on asking these questions with a sincere heart, you will be provided with answers that make perfect sense to YOU. An answer that YOU can live from. For me, it goes like this. If God is unlimited, God must by necessity include all ideas, including the idea of its opposite: "not-God". But not-God is an impossible idea, as God includes everything. Not-God is like a mirage. A false idea in the space of Awareness. Some traditions call it Maya, others call it Primordial Ignorance, still others call it the Devil. "Not-God" is like an unreal mirage in a desert, covering what is really there. You and I find ourselves in the midst of this mirage. If God is goodness, truth, and wholeness, this mirage interpolates evil, falsity and divisiveness. And here we are, exposing the mirage by walking closer, penetrating it and looking at what is really there. Not only looking at the truth but living it -- even while being surrounded by the mirage! I wish us all the very best on our difficult yet amazing journeys. (With thanks to Elizabeth Cronkhite for these insights. She was one of the few teachers who were actually willing to confront the problem of evil in a blog post I stumbled upon many years ago.)
The Self doesn't kill and the Self doesn't get killed. No answer will ever satisfy you until you realise your true nature as this Self , which alone Is.
There is always ever Love/Oneness and the veiling of love which the finite mind conceptualises as 'fear' etc. There is not really such a concept of 'fear', it is just love veiled. There's only ever One.
“where does anything come from if there’s nothing that is not love to begin with?”The short answer is from the Self (aka Brahman, God etc). But, you say, that is Love, so where do all these “godless” emotions, tendencies come from? The answer is “from Self that has been impacted upon by Superimpositions (Maya, aka ignorance). Who put the there? You did. The scriptures say that ignorance is a latency of ignorance within Brahman/Self that manifests as mind. Maya/ignorance is our manas mind/lower mind/what we use in duality. We superimpose upon the purity of Self/Brahman the negative inclinations you mentioned. Where did they came from? Your thoughts. How do you remove them? Pay super attention to your mental tendencies and quash those negativities. Long answer, sorry. It really only makes sense after Self realisation
@JakeandLarmi Great question. Elsewhere, Rupert has said “The separate self IS a point of view.” Also, it can easily be demonstrated that language is inherently dualistic. Accordingly, everything you’ve said, everything Rupert says, everything on this thread and page, including what I’m about to say - all of it - is conceptual. None of it is true. Even that statement is a concept! When I first saw this as a young man many decades ago, I was paralysed. I could not leave my room. I felt totally trapped. I literally wept for days. Since then, like you, I have fought hard to find a way to hold the truth in my mind. We will never succeed. “Enlightenment” is a party to which the mind is not invited. That which we seek is a matter of intuition. It is outside time-and-space, but time-and-space exists within It. Intuition. Love is intuition. I suggest you check out Nisargadatta. He said it best, in my, er, opinion. (Drat! I’ve done it again!) Ha ha.
Imagine someone you know suddenly dies. How long does it take for you to stop thinking about them? Now imagine that you are no longer part of this world but still exist in it. Everyone you know will act as though you are no longer here. Why, because they will quickly sense that you have changed. That you no longer fit into their circles. The ego cannot accept this because it is a survivor. Without the ego, you no longer exist in the eyes of the other egos. You walk alone in the dark. But you live on, in the light.
Okay, I have a question kinda related to this, hopefully it reads how I mean to say it. When we die, and our body and mind (ego, persona, etc) ceases to be, are ‘we’ still aware? I know this sentence doesn’t make sense, but that’s because I am identifying as We/I, but I cannot fathom non-existence and so I cannot fathom non-awareness/non-being. I wonder whether any of that makes sense; thanks in advance :)
@ All I know is that I have no memory before waking memory. I can only guess the same after waking memory ceases. We are not given this to know in this life.
Can somebody please help me understand the question so I can further try to understand his answer. I have absolutely no idea what he's talking about and the guy asking a question started 3 different questions but didn't finish any of them.
There is an understanding, usually through or brought about through meditation where you have an understanding that you are not separate from everything around us.
The person asking the question has experienced changes in his life as a result of applying the teachings on non-duality. Although these changes have been positive, he seems unsettled by a sense of losing control over the events around him. These changes, while beautiful, have occurred regardless of his intentions. He wants to know if he is on the right track and how things will progress from here. Key Insights from Rupert’s Response: Gradual or Drastic Transformation: · For some individuals, the shift unfolds gradually, in a harmonious and steady manner. Life continues to improve over time as old patterns of thought and identification gently fall away. · For others, the realization is sudden and drastic, leading to an immediate and profound change in their perception of life and self. . Irreversibility of the Process: · Once the seed of non-dual understanding is planted, there is no going back. The transformation becomes inevitable, and life itself seems to guide the individual further along this path. . Ongoing Positive Changes: · The questioner’s experience of life improving as a result of non-duality confirms that they are on the right track. Rupert assures that as the identification with the “doer” diminishes, life becomes increasingly effortless and aligned with the natural flow of existence. . Trust in the Process: · Rupert encourages trust in the unfolding of this process. Whether the transformation happens gradually in a harmonious manner or suddenly ( he uses the term "tempestuous"), it aligns perfectly with the individual’s readiness and life circumstances. In summary, Rupert’s response reassures that once the understanding of non-duality takes root, the journey of transformation will continue naturally, leading to greater harmony and clarity. The key is to remain open and allow the process to unfold without resistance.
