Thanks for showing this. At the beginning it help to better understand the controls when you have your left hand up instead of around the joystick. Tomorrow my first day of learning heavy equipment in a tech school course. Our first day of operating. I think I will do it well, thanks 🙏
How did it go?
Not a bad operator ... Steady, conscientious and gets decent bucket loads with each pass. Not much overspill and keeps area cleaned up pretty well. I did notice that he treats the machine with respect, not creating excess wear in pins and bushings. He doesn't put much pressure on the stick and boom with sweeping. He used forward force, as the machine is designed to do. Great camera angles. Thank you MMC!

Years and years of practise, great to see him working. We have a company here which offers you to play with their big boys toys on the weekend on their premises when the machines are not in use elsewhere. Under constant supervision by the operators of course. Gave a voucher for this to a friend as a birthday present, was great fun.

Why waste time filling the bucket right to the brim with another second when it won’t fill trucks? It’ll still need a third movement. He’s filling the trucks to the brim in three movements that can’t be done in two. It’s not about filling the bucket, it’s about filling trucks.
dan price For example; no reason you can’t have trucks 2 wide. Move truck one a little closer. Pull truck 2 next to him.and if it’s 2.5 scoops to fill truck one; put the other half of the scoop on truck 2. Count your motions? Use your head ....a hoe that big can handle that . Get them trucks back there and move some dirt!!
Jason McElmeel Two trucks is a nice idea, but if you look closely there isn’t room. Those short sticks just don’t have much reach. The one truck literally sits in the rotational arc of the hoe. That’s the comfort spot and most productive. Any closer and you get cramped, further away and it’s a struggle to reach. When you load 100’s of trucks a day, you want that simple motion. He’s got it figured out. Just like all the other companies that do it the exact same way.

Good operator. The owner should consider a rebuild of the bucket. Teeth and the floor are shot. Good thing he is not working in fractured rock. It would not last long.

I'm not one for slating ops but the way he rattling an already badly worn bucket linkage like mad to empty the bucket, it will actually empty quicker thus improving cycle times to tip it out properly. Plus he never fills the back of the bucket, he could be filling the trucks in less passes. Good day to you Orlando 👍
