    I’m not sure which is more cursed: the fact that the “automatic” fire is just semiauto but sped up, or the curved barrel

    What was that thing near the end of the assembly? And again at the end of operation? It's like a curved attachment for the end.

      It was an attachment for the STG called the Krummlauf, which in theory would allow them to shoot around corners or from holes in tanks...it wasn't that good despite being a cool idea.

    • @demonofrazgriz333
      @demonofrazgriz333 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      it was originally called the mp 44 to hide its true design from hitler, who at the time only wanted smg's, or as they are called in germany, machinenpistolen. it was renamed the sturmghewere , or "assault rifle" after hitler heard such praise for it by troops to make it sound intimidating, and to attest to it's effectiveness in combat.

    • @Flapjackbatter
      @Flapjackbatter 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The Stg44 and AK-47 are quite different. Well, at least the people who say that the AK-47 is more or less a copy of the Stg 44 are wrong. You see this if you compare the way the two rifles work internaly.
      The Stg 44 has a tilting bolt locking mechanism. The AK has rotating bolt locking.
      The way the gas is tapped off the barres is quite like tho.
      The AK-47 has more in common with the M1 Garand actually, as both have long-stroke gas piston with rotating bolt locking.

    • @suesswarendieb
      @suesswarendieb 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The Ak-47 was inspired by the StG. 44,and initially formed as ,,AS-44´´,but the red army refused the rifle,despite the fact,it was more reliable..The Ak-47 does look like the StG.44,because the main parts are taken over in their principle,but enhanced by Mikhail Kalashnikov..For long Distances,the StG. is way more reliable,than the Ak,because of a longer Barrel and a lower rate of fire,making it more controlable and also more precisive at higher distances.

    The Americans "took" from Germans the nuclear bomb and Russians the "father" of AK-47.

    • @dracarysblackfyre6030
      @dracarysblackfyre6030 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Uh... No. The US had developed the Atomic Bomb long before They had captured Germany, and had been working on it since before D-Day. The Germans were attempting to develop weapons using radioactive materials, but hadn't gotten any further than developing a small, basic reactor by he end of the war.

    • @MarathonianWarrior
      @MarathonianWarrior 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe you' re right(Lord Openhaimer). The matter is the biggest inventions as U2,jets,missiles,the superheavy cannons etc. started from there.That' s why the "allies" found a brilliant "think tank" among them VON BRAWN who "become" a refugee to USA ...

    • @dracarysblackfyre6030
      @dracarysblackfyre6030 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      MarathonianWarrior
      Other than your odd use of "quotations" You're more or less correct. Neither the US nor the USSR would likely have developed rocket technology to the level they did. However, they certainly would have continued development of jet and bomber technology, so the outcome would still have been much the same. And although German scientists contributed much to jet technology, the US was already in the middle of developing it's own jet's as of D-Day, and it was actually a Russian design in use during the war, that would become the basis for most jet designs that followed (Being a turbine compressor)

    • @dracarysblackfyre6030
      @dracarysblackfyre6030 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      *****
      Yes. But Germany was no where near it. The entire idea of a "nuclear weapon" came from Einstein's E=MC^2, and to that extent, the Germans had developed a nuclear reactor. Not a bomb, just a reactor.

    • @MarathonianWarrior
      @MarathonianWarrior 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Germans had the 'enigma", The "V2" to bomb London, the heavy cannons to bomb Paris, the engine-jet for airplane,the airship "Hidenburg" etc..The 'allies" took the principles operations, and scientists.
