You know that the Adapt Hyperskate GT stands out when someone yells out whoo as Bill zips around the corner at lighting speed !! Another amazing flow cast as always.
Epic flow! I dragged myself out of bed and motivated myself to do 5 miles this evening, third time out since getting my skates, so much to learn but constantly inspired by your vids! Thank you and happy rolling
rubjellyonme didn’t feel like I’d done that far to be honest just what the gps on my watch tracked. It’s so much more fun than running and I don’t get the aches and pains in my joints nearly as much!
Derek Simmons yeah I totally get where your coming from, my main focus was to get an hour in on skates with some straight up rolling time and a few skills drills mainly focused around stopping and turning at the minute. I’m really enjoying it so far, and it’s been interesting to see people’s reactions to someone on inline skates as it’s not something I’ve seen much of in my area. It was cool to see a kid out on quads with her parents learning, I told her I was just learning too and shot her some words of encouragement and got a thumbs up and a huge smile☺️
Awesome video Bill, made my commute to work that little bit easier. I'd love to do a action photoshoot with you around Toronto, I'd say we could develop an awesome project🤙ATB Marti
Between NorCal's air quality (smoke and ozone), the heat, and a broken cuff on my FR1s after skating my NN frames like twice, I haven't skated in like a month. And it BLOWS. Looks like those GTs are a blast. Can't make up my mind if I like the look of the friction pads up the outside, though.
10:03 Good guy Bill not letting that dog chase him too far away. It kind of makes me imagine all the fun things one could do with their dogs on skates.
Great Video. You should switch to 60 FPS though. It would make the video WAY smoother and eliminate motion sickness for me. Btw: 4k wouldn't be bad either ;-)
Advice?: I cant Powerstop like you but I can sort of drag/T-stop into a lunge turn around a corner. I’m decent at dragging to slow down but weird things happen if I try to drag to a complete stop; i often lose balance or my supporting leg gets a mind of its own and just stops cooperating altogether. Any idea what I may be doing wrong? I want to be able to comfortably stop in narrow situations where I’ve got a half a sidewalk to work with. Ive been doing more suburban skating but right now I am limited to routes where I know I have a patch of grass nearby to bail into when things get dicey.
I don’t know if this will help and I’m really sorry if it doesn’t but try practicing sharper turns and really pushing your skate in the ground to get more friction and to hopefully stop easier/quicker. But warning... be careful bc you are probably going to loose balance or slip out under yourself but just practice a whole bunch and rewatch Bills vids on it and I’m sure you will get it soon! 😊😆👍
You should defo take some time to get this down, knowing you can stop will change everything for the better; plus, power stops are Awesome! Practice parallel turns and continue to tighten them, eventually you begin to get a feel for power stops. As for your drag stop, it sounds like you might be leaning too much on that back leg. You need to keep virtually all your weight on your supporting foot and vary the force of the drag foot accordingly. Also, try not to let the drag foot fall too far behind you, this should help with balance. Good luck!
There are only three things where you can make mistakes with a drag stop: 1. Supporting foot should be on the outside edge. 2. The angle between supporting and dragging feet should be less than 90 degree (the angle on the surface) 3. bend your knees more. the faster you want to stop the more you bend your knees. Keeping that mind you just have to slightly move more weight on the dragging foot and pull it closer to the supporting one.. The pressure here is created by the hip. For instance on a downhill you will literally feel how your inner hip muscles work while trying to keep the proper angle. Powerstop just needs practicing, nothing more.
OK, Bill, Serious question: how do you train your legs when you are skating everyday? I don’t have any downtime & I am making small advances in building muscle, but can never increase my weight because my legs will be too burnt the next day when I skate. Do you still do weight training on your legs, or only in winter? Really want to know (yes I do supplements)
Derek Simmons yep, I saw his workout training schedule on an older video before he got so big. I have been working out opposing muscles that I am not dependent on in my long skates. I had to quit skating everyday & now listen to my body more (instead of my brain saying “let’s go skate, skate skate skate”) I upped my protein & BCAA’s & doing more in the gym. I don’t really have a total downtime because it is nice most days of the year & I skate 3x a week now. Am definitely doing better than I was. Do you follow an off season training regimen? 🐸

No, when it rains you should take cover or check out the weather channel before you go out. The only sane people skating in the rain are skating couriers...and that's only because they have to.
I miss them too. Although I have now the 360 can myself and do understand how much it increases the possibilities of editing, good old action cam shootage is still attracts me.

Great flow. Reminded me of your vids from 4 or 5 years ago which inspired me back then to get my first skates.

A beast session! That blast/flow blend is probably my favourite aspect of inline skating.
