    Thanks for watching. This Stihl Leaf blower was tough to start cold but once it did start it was easy to start after that. The answer was pretty simple, the primer bulb had a small crack in it so it needs to be replaced.

    People say anything to dump something they don't want to bother fixing.
    You are doing a great job showing how easy it might be to fix things yourself.
    Not all things require a college degree or years of training.

    I thought this was an 85 until I saw you handle it and the tag on the body. All my stuff was so old and in bad shape the bulbs weren't mentioned and the least of the troubles. And you now see what a 58 will do you have an idea what an 85 will do. Mine is old but will still max out for moving a lot of air, in and out!. Good fix and Blessings!

    Hi bro, it's me again... Remember the backpack blower that I got a couple of weeks ago? I finally got it tested,but I have noticed a gas leak in the fuel line that goes to the carburetor, the blower started fine but again,saw some fuel leak at the carb inlet... I didn't saw the adjusting screws to make ( nonetheless) adjustment... It does when I move the choke lever to run... And one last thing: I've succeeded in adjusting the carburetor and thus correcting the problem... Also noticed on the trimmer:the kill switch button was disconnected at the conector in the left side of the engine... Connection successful and with minor adjustments is back to life again (I'm referring to the trimmer,sorry)

    I work on stihl every day and and thay always say that but when that primer gets broken and the unit gets dirt in it by that time it needs a carb not worth tying to fix because sometimes when you open up the carb and there is dirt on the inlet screen you break the seal and the card leaks

      Purchase a Stihl, Echo, Redmax or Shindawa. You pay more up front. The big box stores are poorly made and do not last, even with maintenance. The premium brands will last a long long time as long as you use the correct mix with non-ethanol fuel or buy canned fuel. I have had my Stihl for probably 20 years. I only had to recently replace the carburetor. Good luck!

      I think your cylinder bolts came loose. Hold onto the carb, or airbox and move it left and right. It should NOT move independently from the rest of the blower and if it is, even just a bit, the bolts need to be tightened.

    Home Garage, I just ran into this bad carburetor problem with my Stihl. It was flooding out my engine. I tried to get a oem rebuild kit. Expensive and unavailable in my area. I bought a oem carb at my local lawn and garden instead. Expensive, however it runs great. I also was able to look into my piston/piston ring assembly. Looks great with no scoring.

    • @jimamerica7419
      @jimamerica7419 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@HomeGaragechannel Around $51. I wanted to buy a aftermarket one on Amazon for much less, or even a rebuild kit. Since the unit was in good working order as well as the shredder/bag still working great, I opted for the OEM carburetor. Once I installed the new carburetor with gaskets, the unit fired right up with no adjustments needed. Also, as you have shown in many of your videos many of the carburetors for Stihl are made by Zama or Walbro.

    I've used stihl blowers for 19 years and recently my latest one i think ran hot. The bulb was bad and it would bog down. I replaced the bulb but now it seems to flood the cylinder because its fuel locked. Takes about 60 pulls and gas comes out the muffler. Ordered a new carb today, only 15 dollars. It'll run like new soon. I love these stihl motors they are cheap, reliable and easy to fix. Ill never have any other brand.

    I have one question, someone told me a mechanic for also 2 stroke engines of garden tools once told him one should not use a 2 stroke engine for long periods with high throttle but to throttle high a few seconds and then reduce again a bit and then throttle high again and the same cycle over and over. If you run a 2 stroke engine on high throttle continuously it breaks down (I don't know what exactly breaks down!?) pretty quick he said. A 4 stroke engine would not suffer from continues high throttle he said as well. What are your thoughts about that, do you agree with that?
