Ha! That's a perfect description of the reward board. I've had others call out that tech fouls are good. it adds cards from the deck to your board. when you clear the board, you"re getting the best card available. you obviously want to make sure the best cards in the deck are on the board. tech cards do this.
I hate technical fouls. I won a game on blacktop and pulled an add card which added Isiah Thomas on the board, then immediately pulled two technical fouls which reset the board.
A good tip for easy points is on fastbreaks, stop at the top of the arc because most players rush their entire team to protect the rim and it's just an easy 2 which is helpful af
Agree! I'll mix Tmac, too. Tmac definitely plays above it's "emerald" rating. Also love cards like moments Zach Lavine, Bazemore, Conley, Kemba, etc in.

So ive been on level 10 forever and I had PD Isiah on my board for a while. Got two Ts and the PD counter went to 0 and he is no longer on my deck... is it possible he on my board now??
I don't lose with trace McGrady, he plays like a diamond for me. He posters everyone and does the most fancy dunks as well. My only question is where do you aim with the left stick when you lob it up? because sometimes I have trouble and miss the lob pass.
And yes, emerald Tmac is amazing!!! Got one in the collection that'll mix into the blacktop lineup to keep it "interesting." My strategy right now...I really like my lineup and the cards in my collection so i'm saving up. Want to be ready when we get hopefully upgradged improved versions of MJ and Tmac. And of course be ready for when they drop Vince Carter.
I needed this vid because I haven't won a game in a week lol. Everyone is so good and playing D is almost impossible. I want to smash the controller when they pass to the wrong guy and especially when he's wide open and they throw it to the guy who's doubled for an auto steal
Ive played around 370 blacktop games and won 310 or them, the easiest way to win is to obviously pick a good player but i constantly pass the ball around quick and like to have someone i can rely on to go to the basket, this works against offball too cuz that cpu defense gets confused so its eady baskets and kick outs and alot of ragequits ;)
Now that is a nice winning percentage yo! Good tip on working the ball around the perimeter. Just like IRL hoops, you break down defense with good passing. I'll use bumper passing tho. Can never trust directional passing. You think you're kicking it out to your player in the corner from three. Nope. LOL
since the beginning of that video all i could think about was the perfect blacktop player, after u said u want an athletic good shooter backcourt player i was thinking about diamond 96 overoll Nate Archibeld. i mean: 99 speed, 99 speed with ball, 93 open shot 3 and contested shot 3, 90 off dribble shot 3 and 99 acceleration. absoulutly the perfect player to everything u said u like about blacktop players. i bought him a few days ago for only 44k and he is worth it no doubt.

I like using Antione Walker. In MyTeam online games, I don't like using him because he's short for a PF and too slow for a SF, but in Blacktop, he's a mismatch nightmare.
I love that card, too. For a PF, has Melo quality ball control. Can play solid defense. Grab boards and SCORE. Easy shot release. Love running the card in budget lineups with rookie rewind Paul Pierce - dynamic duo.
Live stream sniping? No. We've tried it. It doesn't work. 1. I get distracted easily. Ha! Talking. Interacting in the livestream chat. And then missing the update/refresh (:05, :20, :35 and :50). 2. There are probabaly 100 different ways to make MT flipping cards. However, when I live stream, got the viewers setting up the same filters as me. Makes it kinda tough. LOL. OUR PLAN: going to keep making auction house tips and tricks vids. AND live stream. But it'll be more game play stuff. Player card reviews. Lineup tips and tricks.
Another great video as always! Pulled team USA kyrie for the THIRD TIME this week, makes me really upset. Got a consolation though by pulling team USA klay Thompson, my 4th team USA of the year (boogie, kyrie, Thompson, and butler). Still not a single ruby and only 1 amethyst though, and with 350 wins I'm still on the grind for PD Thomas as well as diamond McHale since I'm a C's fan. By the way, those team USAs have dynamic duos. kyrie matches with jimmy butler which improves butlers shot a lot
Yeah, I was going to call that out in this vid. It hasn't happened to me yet. But when it does, not going to be happy. The number of games you need to play to get that reward card. And then to get a duplicate that can only be quick sold? Not good. JEALOUS tho of all the Team USA cards you've found. I'd trade ALL my rubies for a Team USA Paul George. :)
Paul George is the one team USA I really need yet at this point. KD would be nice as well, but I'll probably pull a few more Kyrie's before I get anything good. And with board ten taking so long if you get screwed on techs it takes forever to get a fresh start.
Bob McAdoo is pretty good. I play him at Pf for his Defense and play with an Offensive Center cause Bob is kinda undersized to be matched up with the elite Centers in this game. But he can lockup all Power Forwards so far.
Yeah, he's actually a decent card. I agree. Was running McAdoo and reward Terry Cummings (also from the Blacktop reward board). McAdoo undersized yes, but was making plays. Terry Cummings reminds me of Sir Charles.
Wow. Pulled that USA Barnes in Blacktop as a trial card and liked it alot. I've had good luck - a lot of rubies. But honestly would trade them all in for a sapphire USA PG.
The Steve Smith was my first ruby, and unfortunately, idk if he'll crack my lineup. Barnes is alright, but I 100% like the Kyrie better, dribble moves are pure cheese.
Yo nothing wrong with off ball but off ball paint clogging is straight up shameful. Like that's the cheapest play you can make. You have to run pnr until you can sneak a pass past the guy standing under the hoop and hope he doesn't get a good shot contest. If you pull a bad shooting card and someone paint clogs that makes the game mode so much worse. I always roast people who do this after I beat them. My record is nuts (278-43) and I'm going to beat them so when I do I let them know how disgraceful paint clogging actually is.
I like you but paint clogging is an instant git gud. You have to off ball sometimes if you want to defend pick and roll or if you get like a center on a good wing player but standing right under the basket because your man can't shoot? it's disgraceful. it's a cheap tactic git gud if you have to rely on that to get wins.
Oh, I agree. Nothing worse than the kid that sits and doesn't move from under the basket. You embarrass yourself with your lack of skill. And it's a frickin' game. Have some fun. Play some on ball. Make some mistakes. But PLAY THE GAME YO! Hahahaha.
+Spaceward Bird2 That kills me man, I sweat my butt off when someone pulls that. I can't wait to beat them then tell them about how horrible they are for doing that. As for like tips, I don't want to talk down to you because you basically said what I do to win. I take good open 3s as much as possible. I take the ball down the court and try to drive with my ball handler, I'm never looking to finish here unless it's an easy dunk, I want to pass out to my shooter. If that gets shut down I want to run PnR until I find a shooter or at last resort my roller at the basket. I want to always draw the CPU defense to help at the basket so I can get someone open and cause chaos that gives me open shots. I will try to force the defense to switch. One of my favorite strategies here is to drive on a PnR and get my ball handler locked into the other defender by posting up. That way the roll man goes back to the 3 PT line and his defender is locked in post up animations with my guard. You can try to do this anytime your player is close to another defender. This causes confusion and a lot of the time open shots. I run a lot of pick and fade with shooters, this always doesn't get open shots but it creates space for a drive and if they switch to defend can cause CPU defense to freak out when my player gets to the basket. If I can't get an open shot like I said I run PnR. If you follow through with the pnr you will likely be able to sneak the ball in behind the rollers defender when he comes over to help at the basket no matter how covered you are. Just throw that pass if it's close. On defense I defend the perimeter first and foremost no matter what. I want to get 3's and I don't want to give up 3's. I will give up some easy drives but I never want to give up open 3's. Sometimes you get screwed, you're missing wide open shots that should be green and they are hitting contested fade away threes from half court with a gold center. You'll get 4 games in a row where someone who brings a silver Kyle Anderson pulls a pink diamond Kobe and hits every shot because he's matched up against your gold Kendrick Perkins for some reason. That just happens, but play the numbers game and take good open shots and things will even out. You'll have games where collection Kiki hits 8 3's in a row while he's taking moving contested deep shots but that's just 2K. You have to take open shots, always try to get 3's and defend the 3. If it's not there take easy points inside when you can. My favorite players to use are the new Mo Williams, Terrance Ross and Allan Houston as well as ruby Peja and deep shooters Steve Kerr. I always want to pull at least a ball handler, and I usually do get someone that can play that role. I hate using Glenn Rice lmao, I always lose with him man. I always get bad pulls and he ends up being point guard and having to take contested 3's behind screens. This is another tip, if you are ever just being locked down by an offballer who's playing really good D and you can't break down his D with your balm handler. Take your shooter and call a screen, carefully drag his CPU defender through the screen and when you have a moment of openness take the 3. Your player is uncontested for enough time to get off a shot and some success with this will usually force them to manually fight through the screen which can help you get around their player defense. seriously tho, why can't 2k fix this balance issue. you should not have to guard pink diamond Kobe with Kendrick perkins. When you have situations where you have a tall 2 guard and a short power forward and the tall 2 guard ends up on a center while the short PF is guarding a guard that will blaze him. I'd rather you not be able to pull Diamond players at all. only up to amethyst. that way scrubs don't get a god tier player and beat you because they pressed X near the basket.

I have a fair few rubies that I got through level 8-10. didn't get Kev until my second play through on level 10 and I pick him up again after 5 more picks. Had to sell him straight away which sucked because of course you can't sell him at auction. Second play through on level 10 best I got was anthony davis emerald. That was enough to make me never play blacktop again.

yeah i was shocked when i saw the HOF badge for a rewards so quick to get ,most of the power forward are too slow off the ball to follow him you just have to drive and kick out to him open in the corner XD
Sup Phil! Yeah, good question. It's really because I'm not playing it much right now. Playing some friendlies here and there. Knocking out the weekly and moments challenges. My "plan" since early tip off weekend, was to work the auction house and make as much MT as possible so I could have myself set up to make plays to pick u the cards I really wanted - MJ, Vince Carter, Tmac, etc. Rocked thru Dom/Historic Dom. Then moved onto Blacktop. Playing a TON of Blacktop right now. Our channel we've always said we're gonna share stuff we're doing at the moment. And sharing stuff we're finding fun/interesting. Definitely plan on playing some MTO. Just right now - focus is on Blacktop - The grind is REAL! :)
this video was ok. I think it would have been better to do a video like this much earlier in the season since most of us have completed blacktop already. would have been nice to see a more detailed analysis of how to handle different situations of how the defense is playing you; you didn't even mention how to backdoor cut an "offballer". most of this video was you throwing alley oops, which is fun, but not a high percentage.
Thanks for the feedback! Really appreciate it!!! For me, lobs are high percentage because of the cards I'm running. And lobs just make the game play more fun. At 5:20 we talk about the backdoor cut. I think the challenge with this vid was there's SO MUCH to cover and TH-cam vids really needs to be kept under 10 minutes for them to be BOTH entertaining and informative. I think this vid was a decent introduction to the basics of Blacktop. But could make future vids focusing on executing different situations on offense and defense like you mentioned.
Wow. Yeah, I'd honestly trade in my ruby cards for Finley or a Team USA PG. Only ruby cards that really interest me are that Eddie Jones. Everyone talks about how AMAZING the card plays. Finally pulled a ruby when i got terry cummings, kind of don't need him but still cant really complain i guess since its taken like 700 blacktop games to get him. Got Amethyst Amare on the board now so hoping for some luck

Spaceward Bird2 I used to do that last year with gauntlet. It was ways more risky, cuz you could easily miss a refresh. You are one of my favs and keep up the good work.
I also don't like how rage quits are less common due to suspensions. People rage quitting is not bad sportsmanship. Has anyone gotten mad when somebody rage quit. Btw I love leaving a game when they are running a free agent card like Kobe or Jordan.
Spaceward Bird2 it's great it has I think 15 total badges on it 14 gold 1 hall of fame badge it has hall of fame bruiser it has a+ mid and A- 3 so I can score with it but I use it more for defense because he has a+ steal but he gets a lot of and one layups for me as well
I recorded it when I pulled him lol but I think 85 USA Demarcus cousins has a bigger impact on my team because of all the rebs and put backs he does I don't use isiah as a scorer he's more of Defence and finding the open guy so even tho he's a pink diamond he's probobly the 5th leading scorer on my team behind j.r smith Demarcus and George Lucas and 85 kawhi

Yeah, me too. I've had some friends explain that tech fouls are good. They add cards from the deck to your board. When you clear the board, you get the best card from the board. So these tech cards are going to increase your odds of getting that diamond or pink diamonds.
I ABSOLUTELY HATE OFF BALL PLAYERS! I understand off ball every once in a while during a game, but the WHOLE game ! Players do this when they can't guard my lineup of nothing but players with 86+ ball control !breaking ankles!
Yeah, this is TRUE. there's really not a ton of difference between the emerald and high flyer sapphire. JR Swish is easily a TOP 5 favorite card to run in Blacktop.
Meh. you endorse some of that shit that I hate about this mode, namely people who cant play D camping in the paint with their bigs and the non stop screen and roll. This mode is not that hard to have to resort to these tactics and part of the cancerous gameplay in 2k 17
For the kid that plays 100% off ball, is it annoying. YES! Especially when you have a lineup with ZERO outside scoring. Unfortunately, it's part of the game. And if you trust your CPU teammate to guard elite outside scorers on the perimeter, you're going to be disappointed, too. Defense it's a mix of on ball and off ball if you're going to be successful.

I can tell watching your videos your far better than me, and probably in dealing with cheesers as well. Keep up the videos.
Thanks! Really the trick is just keeping that CPU teammate from sliding over and giving help. Gotta keep 'em on the perimeter and defend against the three. Better to give up the layup vs. the three point bomb = two possessions. Good luck with the cheesers!!! :)

Technical fouls are the most ridiculous feature in the mode. It's already hard enough to grind without buying vc

Eddie when the board resets the card on your board stays. There until you beat the level and automatically get him or pull him.
you sure? I thought there could only be one card at a time, unless you pull a add card?
No bro. When it says "0" under the PD logo he is on your board until you pull him or beat Level 10 which resets the whole deck.

Aiming like you would directional passing. You'll see the little white ring around the player want to lob it to. Double tapping Y to throw the lob.

And then to get a duplicate that can only be quick sold? Not good. JEALOUS tho of all the Team USA cards you've found. I'd trade ALL my rubies for a Team USA Paul George. :)
Paul George is the one team USA I really need yet at this point. KD would be nice as well, but I'll probably pull a few more Kyrie's before I get anything good. And with board ten taking so long if you get screwed on techs it takes forever to get a fresh start.

Bob McAdoo is pretty good. I play him at Pf for his Defense and play with an Offensive Center cause Bob is kinda undersized to be matched up with the elite Centers in this game. But he can lockup all Power Forwards so far.
Yeah, he's actually a decent card. I agree. Was running McAdoo and reward Terry Cummings (also from the Blacktop reward board). McAdoo undersized yes, but was making plays. Terry Cummings reminds me of Sir Charles.

The Steve Smith was my first ruby, and unfortunately, idk if he'll crack my lineup. Barnes is alright, but I 100% like the Kyrie better, dribble moves are pure cheese.

Yo nothing wrong with off ball but off ball paint clogging is straight up shameful. Like that's the cheapest play you can make. You have to run pnr until you can sneak a pass past the guy standing under the hoop and hope he doesn't get a good shot contest. If you pull a bad shooting card and someone paint clogs that makes the game mode so much worse. I always roast people who do this after I beat them. My record is nuts (278-43) and I'm going to beat them so when I do I let them know how disgraceful paint clogging actually is.
I like you but paint clogging is an instant git gud. You have to off ball sometimes if you want to defend pick and roll or if you get like a center on a good wing player but standing right under the basket because your man can't shoot? it's disgraceful. it's a cheap tactic git gud if you have to rely on that to get wins.
Oh, I agree. Nothing worse than the kid that sits and doesn't move from under the basket. You embarrass yourself with your lack of skill. And it's a frickin' game. Have some fun. Play some on ball. Make some mistakes. But PLAY THE GAME YO! Hahahaha.

As for like tips, I don't want to talk down to you because you basically said what I do to win. I take good open 3s as much as possible. I take the ball down the court and try to drive with my ball handler, I'm never looking to finish here unless it's an easy dunk, I want to pass out to my shooter. If that gets shut down I want to run PnR until I find a shooter or at last resort my roller at the basket. I want to always draw the CPU defense to help at the basket so I can get someone open and cause chaos that gives me open shots. I will try to force the defense to switch. One of my favorite strategies here is to drive on a PnR and get my ball handler locked into the other defender by posting up. That way the roll man goes back to the 3 PT line and his defender is locked in post up animations with my guard. You can try to do this anytime your player is close to another defender. This causes confusion and a lot of the time open shots. I run a lot of pick and fade with shooters, this always doesn't get open shots but it creates space for a drive and if they switch to defend can cause CPU defense to freak out when my player gets to the basket. If I can't get an open shot like I said I run PnR. If you follow through with the pnr you will likely be able to sneak the ball in behind the rollers defender when he comes over to help at the basket no matter how covered you are. Just throw that pass if it's close. On defense I defend the perimeter first and foremost no matter what. I want to get 3's and I don't want to give up 3's. I will give up some easy drives but I never want to give up open 3's. Sometimes you get screwed, you're missing wide open shots that should be green and they are hitting contested fade away threes from half court with a gold center. You'll get 4 games in a row where someone who brings a silver Kyle Anderson pulls a pink diamond Kobe and hits every shot because he's matched up against your gold Kendrick Perkins for some reason. That just happens, but play the numbers game and take good open shots and things will even out. You'll have games where collection Kiki hits 8 3's in a row while he's taking moving contested deep shots but that's just 2K. You have to take open shots, always try to get 3's and defend the 3. If it's not there take easy points inside when you can. My favorite players to use are the new Mo Williams, Terrance Ross and Allan Houston as well as ruby Peja and deep shooters Steve Kerr. I always want to pull at least a ball handler, and I usually do get someone that can play that role. I hate using Glenn Rice lmao, I always lose with him man. I always get bad pulls and he ends up being point guard and having to take contested 3's behind screens. This is another tip, if you are ever just being locked down by an offballer who's playing really good D and you can't break down his D with your balm handler. Take your shooter and call a screen, carefully drag his CPU defender through the screen and when you have a moment of openness take the 3. Your player is uncontested for enough time to get off a shot and some success with this will usually force them to manually fight through the screen which can help you get around their player defense.
seriously tho, why can't 2k fix this balance issue. you should not have to guard pink diamond Kobe with Kendrick perkins. When you have situations where you have a tall 2 guard and a short power forward and the tall 2 guard ends up on a center while the short PF is guarding a guard that will blaze him. I'd rather you not be able to pull Diamond players at all. only up to amethyst. that way scrubs don't get a god tier player and beat you because they pressed X near the basket.

I have a fair few rubies that I got through level 8-10. didn't get Kev until my second play through on level 10 and I pick him up again after 5 more picks. Had to sell him straight away which sucked because of course you can't sell him at auction. Second play through on level 10 best I got was anthony davis emerald. That was enough to make me never play blacktop again.

Sup Phil! Yeah, good question. It's really because I'm not playing it much right now. Playing some friendlies here and there. Knocking out the weekly and moments challenges. My "plan" since early tip off weekend, was to work the auction house and make as much MT as possible so I could have myself set up to make plays to pick u the cards I really wanted - MJ, Vince Carter, Tmac, etc. Rocked thru Dom/Historic Dom. Then moved onto Blacktop. Playing a TON of Blacktop right now. Our channel we've always said we're gonna share stuff we're doing at the moment. And sharing stuff we're finding fun/interesting. Definitely plan on playing some MTO. Just right now - focus is on Blacktop - The grind is REAL! :)

this video was ok. I think it would have been better to do a video like this much earlier in the season since most of us have completed blacktop already. would have been nice to see a more detailed analysis of how to handle different situations of how the defense is playing you; you didn't even mention how to backdoor cut an "offballer". most of this video was you throwing alley oops, which is fun, but not a high percentage.
Thanks for the feedback! Really appreciate it!!! For me, lobs are high percentage because of the cards I'm running. And lobs just make the game play more fun. At 5:20 we talk about the backdoor cut. I think the challenge with this vid was there's SO MUCH to cover and TH-cam vids really needs to be kept under 10 minutes for them to be BOTH entertaining and informative. I think this vid was a decent introduction to the basics of Blacktop. But could make future vids focusing on executing different situations on offense and defense like you mentioned.

Spaceward Bird2 I used to do that last year with gauntlet. It was ways more risky, cuz you could easily miss a refresh. You are one of my favs and keep up the good work.
I also don't like how rage quits are less common due to suspensions. People rage quitting is not bad sportsmanship. Has anyone gotten mad when somebody rage quit. Btw I love leaving a game when they are running a free agent card like Kobe or Jordan.

Spaceward Bird2 it's great it has I think 15 total badges on it 14 gold 1 hall of fame badge it has hall of fame bruiser it has a+ mid and A- 3 so I can score with it but I use it more for defense because he has a+ steal but he gets a lot of and one layups for me as well

I recorded it when I pulled him lol but I think 85 USA Demarcus cousins has a bigger impact on my team because of all the rebs and put backs he does I don't use isiah as a scorer he's more of Defence and finding the open guy so even tho he's a pink diamond he's probobly the 5th leading scorer on my team behind j.r smith Demarcus and George Lucas and 85 kawhi

Yeah, me too. I've had some friends explain that tech fouls are good. They add cards from the deck to your board. When you clear the board, you get the best card from the board. So these tech cards are going to increase your odds of getting that diamond or pink diamonds.

I ABSOLUTELY HATE OFF BALL PLAYERS! I understand off ball every once in a while during a game, but the WHOLE game ! Players do this when they can't guard my lineup of nothing but players with 86+ ball control !breaking ankles!

Yeah, this is TRUE. there's really not a ton of difference between the emerald and high flyer sapphire. JR Swish is easily a TOP 5 favorite card to run in Blacktop.

Meh. you endorse some of that shit that I hate about this mode, namely people who cant play D camping in the paint with their bigs and the non stop screen and roll. This mode is not that hard to have to resort to these tactics and part of the cancerous gameplay in 2k 17
For the kid that plays 100% off ball, is it annoying. YES! Especially when you have a lineup with ZERO outside scoring. Unfortunately, it's part of the game. And if you trust your CPU teammate to guard elite outside scorers on the perimeter, you're going to be disappointed, too. Defense it's a mix of on ball and off ball if you're going to be successful.

I can tell watching your videos your far better than me, and probably in dealing with cheesers as well. Keep up the videos.
Thanks! Really the trick is just keeping that CPU teammate from sliding over and giving help. Gotta keep 'em on the perimeter and defend against the three. Better to give up the layup vs. the three point bomb = two possessions. Good luck with the cheesers!!! :)
