Fun fact: It was Floor who asked Henk to sing "Phantom of the Opera" as a duet with him because Henk and this musical had a deep influence on her when she was young. Henk accepted, but he had one condition: The next time Nightwish plays in the Netherlands, he wanted to sing "Phantom of the Opera" together with Nightwish on their Netherlands tour. Floor immediately answered with a big YES. :)
100% agree with you on the Annette vs Tarja vs Floor arguments. They are all three very accomplished singers with their own unique sounds. They all made Nightwish great by being in the band. The only point I can concede is IMHO Floor is versatile enough to perform songs from all three areas at the highest level. But I’m not going to say any are better than the other two. Why can’t people just enjoy incredible music and appreciate it for what it is?

Floor was the first singer to perform in that season of Beste Zangers, she sang the "Vilja Lied" from the German Operetta The Merry Widow for Henk. Most of the other participants didn't even know her and probably expected some average rock vocals. Needless to say she left them speechless😁
@@mardtdevisser1189 What is also great is that Henk learned to put a rasp in his voice (something opera singers do not do due to how it can rough on your singing voice) for their performance to call back to her Metal background. Huge respect between those too.
Three songs you deffinatly need to see from this show are: Henk Poort sang sound of silence the version from Disturbed, a special song for Floor. He never used distorcion on his voice before this program. He learned it especcially for Floor. Floor sings Winner for Tim Akkerman. It's a song he wrote about his Brother who needs a wheelchair. And Emma Heesters who sings a song written by Floor. Strong! It's about the ilness en hard times off her mom. There are more beautifull songs in this program. But those three are my favorites!
There are so much beautifull songs in Beste Zangers 2019! As Nightwish fan i like all the songs off Floor, off course. But the biggest suprises are Henk and Emma for me! There song Vivo per lei together, is also beautifull.

For your own benefit, you really should watch the entire 2019 season. Floor sings opera, rock, folk, pop, country, and salsa, in German, Dutch, English, and Spanish. The others are all great singers as well. The biggest surprise for me was Emma Heesters, the young blonde. What a talent! The whole thing is a treat for the ears. On top of all that, you get to hear the singers talk about themselves and one another. jenniezelf and Denise Hofs, a couple of Nightwish fans, have, between them, provided English subtitles for every episode, so don't worry about not being able to understand the conversation. The band is kick ass as well and, over the season, you do get the opportunity to see much of their gear.
It's a fantastic show, and I wish we had it in the UK. Over here it's just competitions designed to make Simon Cowell more money, or The Voice where you never hear of the winner again (they couldn't even get enough people interested to make a tour worthwhile)
@@richardgoddard37 In germany we have this show as well and it's well received and like the dutch version very heartwarming, germany just don't have Floor Jansen and the really big and great talented rockbands or singers aren't interested in such shows, it's more soul, folk and the usual pop. Yup, I was blown away by Emma as well. I also think that Ruben Annik has some serious songwriting chops that needs developing. He was only 20 when this was shot.

Henk actually did Disturbed's version of "Sound of Silence" on this show (his turn to do music for Floor, and he felt that vocals meant for a female would've sounded bad). It's pretty impressive.

Floor was known to a relative small group of people here in the Netherlands, despite being best selling woman of our country. This show opened doors for her, she is now known by the general public. Well deserved too. She was a powerhouse woman during this show and sang in four languages (German, Dutch, English and Spanish) throughout the show. Absolutely fantastic.
Beste Zangers was a fabulous show. Wonderful format...just respectful, honest and emotionally engaged. Remarkably ego free for this kind of thing, every episode was a gem. Of course, Floor was what made me watch it at all...every perfomance she put in was sublime.
I love the format of the show (it's in 5-6 countries now I believe), some years were definitely better than others but especially the year with O'G3ne and the year with the most versatile and to me, overall "winner" of every beste zangers all time: Tommie Christiaan.. most out of the box ever.
I'm with you man. As a long time Nightwish fan, there are pros and cons to each of their singers and they all bring something to the table. I think Floor is the best all-around singer and perfect for just about everything.

I honestly had never heard that song. I was talking to some people on Discord about “the guy in the Ramones shirt”, and after they told me who he was, I did my research and figured a Di-Rect song was appropriate. Admittedly, though, I did not know that was their biggest hit song, I just chose one I liked. Haha

I've seen Antonio Bandesras&Sarah Brightman's performance and Tarja&Marco's feat. Nightwish...and this one....Wow! I'm glad I'm a finn and I can keep these Floor and Tarja's performances close to my heart because There is always two! Was able to watch the whole show thanks to the aforementioned Denis Hofs subtitles. This season was GOLD. Yes, Rolf's Hotel California was great. Henk Poort is a opera and theater GOD in The Netherlands, and one of Floor's heroes. She was in total fan girl mode and it was glorious. That house band was fantastic! Floor opened the season with a song for Henk, and closed the season with Phantom with Henk.
I watched the entire 2019 season of Beste Zangers and I enjoyed everyone's performances. Floor is awesome, and I've yet to see anything that she can't sing, and do a top notch job at it. My favorite Nightwish singer? Yep, I'll always answer Marco.
The 2020 one also was recorded in 2019 because Jan, the usual host was supposed to host the Eurovision song contest at the time they usually record beste zangers. But in the end he didn't host either.. he was sick when they recorded the beste zangers so his friends and duo Nick and Simon went and the Eurovision was cancelled. And most amazing thing of this show is that it is fairly low budget public TV and all episodes are recorded in 4 days.

another good one with Henk is "vivo per lei" his duett with Emma (the young blond Girl on the couch)... they sing Italian/english Opera... it is incredible... but seriously, its been posted multiple times already. watch the whole show with the subs, I did when it came out and it is amazing. 100% reccomend, 100% worth the time.
Emma and Henk sounds perfectly well, but one of the goals from the show is to see how much the singers step out of their comfort zone by singing the other singers songs. Floor showed that as a metal singer i think that she can also do operatic singing. Its unfortunate most of the other singers did no real metal songs from floor, except for Tim with his Nemo version

Fact for Tank: this year after all the seasons it's voted as the best song of Beste Zangers (and yes! you pronouced it perfect ..and yes! the translation is Best Singers)
This is from the last episode where they all got to choose someone to do a duet with and floor asked henk to do this song. He said he would if he got to do it with nightwish the next time they play in the Netherlands. Floor said she couldn't promise anything but would ask the guys. This was the last song of the last episode of this season and floor opened the season with vilja lied for henk. You should watch that and henk doing sound of silence for floor. Also floor did a solo tour in the Netherlands with the same band as here and henk did phantom in that show too
Since you are into this thing with its intimate setting: as others already recommended, you should watch the entire season. A few highlights were Emma Heester signing Floor's 'Strong' to her, and Floor singing Tim Akkerman's 'Winner' to him. It's even better when you watch the chat before the performance (subtitled), so you know the meaning of the song to the writer.

Honestly, the whole season (2019) of Beste Zangers was excellent. There are videos with subtitles that go behind the scenes, as well as the actual performances. Floor rocked, as you would expect, but the rest of the cast were very good as well. I commented on Chase's channel about how much I appreciate his research that he does before his reactions, and you also bring your "homework" to class. haha. Thank you for all you do.

Henk literally never used distortion on his voice ever before this show, the first time he added distortion to his voice was when he sad the sound of silence disturbed version for floor and you could see in the videos before it how nervous he was about adding distortion. His sound of silence is amazing if you check it out.

Beste Zangers is best translated to Dear Singers in this case, I believe. And it's actually the other way around from your fact, one singer is put in the spotlight and the others choose songs to sing for him or her. Either songs by the singer in the spotlight, or songs that have meaning for them. E.g. Rolf Sanchez sings a very fun rendition of Hotel California for Floor, Tim sings Nemo to her, Floor sings Winner (one of Tim's songs) for Tim, etc. There's more good stuff from Beste Zangers. No need to react to it, but you may want to check it out with your significant other ;) The entire season with Floor was subbed by Denise Hofs, who's also a member of your Discord server, though I can only find the episode for Floor on her channel. Tank, one thing I'm not sure was mentioned, when you first start the video and you hear that thunderclap, that was not a sound affect. This show is done on an outdoor stage and this episode was shot in the middle of a rain storm. Also as you watch the video, you will notice extremely large rain drops fall between the singers and the camera. Also, that has to be the best reaction to Floor's voice I've seen on any reaction channel.
Another cool thing about this performance: it was closing song of the show. It was storming and the tent was leaking quite significantly. You can actually hear thunder at the beginning that wasn't part of the song. So, quite the atmosphere for this dramatic masterpiece!
There are some amazing performances on this show (mostly Floor in my eyes), but Emma Heester's (the youngest blonde girl who is a youtuber actually) version of Floors song "Strong" always gets to me.. and not only because of Floors reaction to it :) Thank you so much for the reaction as usual, and I'll be looking forward to the next one :)
There was a ton of clear shots of the band behind during the episodes of the show. This song was literally the last one on the last episode, the roof on the set started leaking and at this point behind the camera crew was just focused on finishing the show before the set collapses. (all episodes were filmed at Ibiza, Spain)
I love knowing that the guy in the Ramones shirt is a friend of Floor's who persumably knows her skills, and when she hits that final note he still jumps up like 😱 Henk is Floor's hero, and has been for a long time. I love you for pointing out that all three singers brought something different to the musical buffet that Nightwish is. I never liked that argument anyway! I really like Marco's and Tarja's version of this, but Floor definitely is a fricking powerhouse on stage, she definitely deserves being nicknamed a valkyrie .🥰
@@TankTheTech Also Floor is capable of going full opera, she chose this style specifically for this performance. Phantom of the Opera is actually a musical, and then they metaled it up a bit. She has several amazing full blown opera performances, her skill and diversity of training is kind of hard to believe.
Floor is classically trained she went to a rock academy and studied musical theater and classical music she's also a vocal coach and she can sing in 8 languages so she definitely has an operatic background

seriously, I know I'm late to the game with all of your reactions, you have honestly become one of my absolute go-to youtubers...you don't keep your emotions locked up when doing these videos. You aren't afraid to let the music steer your emotional ship. Everything with Nightwish in particular...when I'm in the zone and listening I'm constantly wiping tears away as I drown (in a good way) in it, get washed away by the undertow. It's funny how even the most stoic of people can break down to something as simple as a chord change. Thank you...just...thank you. Not to downplay any other of the great youtube reaction community, you just...I don't know, you just bring a certain authentic flavor. She was so good singing every genre in multiple languages on this show- you should check them out even if you do not react :) Btw Henk was one of Floors idols growing up so she was fan girling about him a bit; he used distortion in his voice for the first time to sing more Rock-like for her in this song and his solo for her week :) p.s. he is an opera singer and was the Dutch Phantom for many years. I love Floor so much! I saw them perform this beautiful song live earlier this year at her solo show, so I'm very lucky! But now we should go to Amsterdam on october 18, but yeah covid f*cked it up again and made her to postpone the six shows on three evenings to december, so I cross my fingers!! When doing that show it's also helpful to look for the longer versions with an intro of the singers talking about why they chose a particular song. There are some with english subs. 😊
Hey Tank, The whole show is amazing. Floor performing Shallow is a real standout and even if you don't review or react to it, you should watch it. Her performance is great. She does one version solo and one with one of the other singers, but her solo is the standout. Hank does a cover of Sound of Silence which is chilling. He sounds terrific too. Floor does 6 or seven songs and even learned Spanish to be able to better perform a song for Beste Zangers. Floor rules. Thanks for the review.
This show is awesome. Each singer has a turn on "the couch" where the host talks to them about their life and career while the other singers have prepared a song that honors their life or career in some way (for example, covering a song they wrote or an artist that was influential to them). It creates such a great and celebratory vibe, none of the nastiness that passes for "entertainment" in American reality shows. This performance comes from the season finale, where each of the singers has secretly asked another of the singers to sing a duet with them. Floor did not pass up the chance to ask her Phantom of the Opera to sing with her! And when she asked, he said "only if I can sing it with you and Nightwish when you come to the Netherlands." :D
The band is the Marcel Fisser band. They play for Beste Zangers, but also Jan Smit, the host of the show who is a singer himself. Also Nick and Simon, Alain Clark and several television productions. Marcel Fisser himself is a session guitarist for over 30 years.
Another entertaining reaction, Tank! I had the absolute pleasure of watching this episode *LIVE* via the Reacticide Discord server, and no joke - we all had the same mental explosion. The only thing I could say for several minutes was - dead. So your loss of words is apparently TOTALLY understandable. If you watch the other episode from their season, you can get a sense that the more Tim Akkerman is into what he's hearing, the *deeper* he scowls. This performance was the very last of their season, so all performers were fairly aware of each others' abilities. Episode 1 of the season started with Vilja Lied by Floor, and other than Tim nobody else really knew anything about Floors abilities; just that she 'sang in a metal band.' And she started off with Opera. And yeah, since the show is highlighting the singers, you rarely get good views of the gear. One thing is for sure, though, and that is the house band is pretty amazing with everything they play. Another point - I totally agree, I can't get into the argument. I can't stand the feuding. They are all very talented.

Oh man, so glad you got around to this one! Henk was the Dutch phantom forever, so hearing him sing with distortion is just amazing, he's sooooo far out of his comfort zone, yet pulls it off so well. Also requisite cheeky plug to check out MONO Inc, still think you'll enjoy them.
It is a very nice non competitive show, public TV low budget one but still very well made with a amazing band and it produced some amazing covers and some international hits even. And yes indeed, when floor was struggling with Friday afternoon gigs on festivals, Tim was on the mainstage with the band Di-Rect.
Theres some good songs from this show that I had to add to my spotify list like "Winner" "Mama" "Vilja lied" "Strong", I kinda fell in love with Floor again.

Tim and Floor knew each other from the festival circuit with Di-Rect and ReVamp (???), and Henk knew of Floor and had some idea of what she was capable of, but the rest of the singers really had no clue, so when Floor showed up she blew the rest of them away. I always like the cute moment at 5:15 Floor was just fangirling over Henk - for his song for her (Sound of Silence) and for this song he brought rock distortion to his voice, which is a no-no in Opera.
From the videos i saw from you, you seem to react to a certain note. Just like me, i would say 99% of the time that you shed a tear is the same spot i do. I can hear a certain song 100 times but these notes get me all the time. So powerful!
Floor's version of "winner" is my favorite from that show. You might want to watch the whole clip with subtitles to not just the song. Ii m s grown ass man, but that song makes me emotional every single time.
I enjoy your reactions, especially your unique perspective, but it’s also nice to see you just enjoying a performance too! =} The show is a real treat to watch, there are some translations floating around (Denise, a fan, was translating them until she got copyright smacked by the production company). Seeing musicians singing songs for the joy of it, without there being any competition is awesome. Floor is, well, Floor and it was nice to see her take songs that were either sang by, or good special meaning to the other guests, and make them her own. The other singers are all quite good and there are moving performances from all of them. She ended up taking the band with her on a solo tour of her country, there’s some video floating around, so you might get a better look at there hear from there. Henk agreed to do Phantom with her, if he could join her for Phantom onstage during the solo tour and any NW shows in the area. As you saw, he’s opera and it seems he’s Weber’s favorite Phantom performer.
Thanks for the hommage to Tim in the end..weird that I didn't notice it the first time. he sure has been in a rollercoaster after leaving Di-rect. Great voice, great guy.. They were quite popular already at the time of that song, probably on the evening part of the festivals where floor did the afternoon with After Forever. This show was a bunch of fun to watch. Denise Hofs has every episode of this season with English subtitles available. Before and after each song there's a little bit where they talk about the song, why it was chosen, and other bits of back story. After the song is a bit of reaction and thoughts from individuals. It's a great, feel good show, and Floor's performances were stellar. And of course, since Marko is the vocal beast of Nightwish, you should check out some of his solo work. I've recommended it before, but I'll recommend it again. Check out For you, or Stars, Sand and Shadow, or War Pigs. They're live shows so plenty of gear to check out :)
Honestly, you can watch literally ANY of Floors' Beste Zangers performances. Time did a cover of Nightwishes "Nemo" and I thought it was very well done. He was the only person who knew what Floor could do and in the first episode, Henk's episode, she blew everyone away. Also this was from the last episode of that season where they did multiple duets. Floor did another duet with Tim singing "Shallow" in the style she sang in earlier in the season. Henk also agreed to sing this with her under the condition that they can sing it live at one of Nightwish's shows on stage with her, so you WILL be hearing Floor sing this live in Nightwish's style eventually.
Floor’s voice has something that makes me go emotional all the time too aha! On another note, From wished to eternity, this live with Tarja is so damn good (can we talk about Deep Silent Complete for sec?). Tarja’s voice has never been better than on this live. And it’s fun because this live is far from a big production and still you feel the grandeur of the band already. I love it!

Fun fact: It was Floor who asked Henk to sing "Phantom of the Opera" as a duet with him because Henk and this musical had a deep influence on her when she was young. Henk accepted, but he had one condition: The next time Nightwish plays in the Netherlands, he wanted to sing "Phantom of the Opera" together with Nightwish on their Netherlands tour. Floor immediately answered with a big YES. :)
Henk also learned to rasp his voice, something he has never done in his life) as a surprise for Floor in the song.
And it happened in the end of November 2022 in Amsterdam.

100% agree with you on the Annette vs Tarja vs Floor arguments. They are all three very accomplished singers with their own unique sounds. They all made Nightwish great by being in the band. The only point I can concede is IMHO Floor is versatile enough to perform songs from all three areas at the highest level. But I’m not going to say any are better than the other two. Why can’t people just enjoy incredible music and appreciate it for what it is?
Fact is: I lost Nightwish When Annet came in, but I have learned to appreciate her later!

Floor was the first singer to perform in that season of Beste Zangers, she sang the "Vilja Lied" from the German Operetta The Merry Widow for Henk. Most of the other participants didn't even know her and probably expected some average rock vocals. Needless to say she left them speechless😁
they knew hair because they had to do research on hair to make a song for hair and they did alot of research

Three songs you deffinatly need to see from this show are:
Henk Poort sang sound of silence the version from Disturbed, a special song for Floor. He never used distorcion on his voice before this program. He learned it especcially for Floor.
Floor sings Winner for Tim Akkerman. It's a song he wrote about his Brother who needs a wheelchair.
And Emma Heesters who sings a song written by Floor. Strong! It's about the ilness en hard times off her mom.
There are more beautifull songs in this program. But those three are my favorites!

There are so much beautifull songs in Beste Zangers 2019! As Nightwish fan i like all the songs off Floor, off course. But the biggest suprises are Henk and Emma for me! There song Vivo per lei together, is also beautifull.

Henk is flawless, old school talent
For your own benefit, you really should watch the entire 2019 season. Floor sings opera, rock, folk, pop, country, and salsa, in German, Dutch, English, and Spanish. The others are all great singers as well. The biggest surprise for me was Emma Heesters, the young blonde. What a talent! The whole thing is a treat for the ears. On top of all that, you get to hear the singers talk about themselves and one another. jenniezelf and Denise Hofs, a couple of Nightwish fans, have, between them, provided English subtitles for every episode, so don't worry about not being able to understand the conversation. The band is kick ass as well and, over the season, you do get the opportunity to see much of their gear.
It's a fantastic show, and I wish we had it in the UK. Over here it's just competitions designed to make Simon Cowell more money, or The Voice where you never hear of the winner again (they couldn't even get enough people interested to make a tour worthwhile)

@@richardgoddard37 In germany we have this show as well and it's well received and like the dutch version very heartwarming, germany just don't have Floor Jansen and the really big and great talented rockbands or singers aren't interested in such shows, it's more soul, folk and the usual pop. (name is "Sing meinen Song" or translated "Sing my Song")
Yup, I was blown away by Emma as well. I also think that Ruben Annik has some serious songwriting chops that needs developing. He was only 20 when this was shot.
The house band I guess you'd call 'em on this show deserves a fair bit of recognition. They did a great of a job with a bunch of different genres throughout the show.

Floor was known to a relative small group of people here in the Netherlands, despite being best selling woman of our country. This show opened doors for her, she is now known by the general public. Well deserved too. She was a powerhouse woman during this show and sang in four languages (German, Dutch, English and Spanish) throughout the show. Absolutely fantastic.
Beste Zangers was a fabulous show. Wonderful format...just respectful, honest and emotionally engaged. Remarkably ego free for this kind of thing, every episode was a gem. Of course, Floor was what made me watch it at all...every perfomance she put in was sublime.
I love the format of the show (it's in 5-6 countries now I believe), some years were definitely better than others but especially the year with O'G3ne and the year with the most versatile and to me, overall "winner" of every beste zangers all time: Tommie Christiaan.. most out of the box ever.
I'm with you man. As a long time Nightwish fan, there are pros and cons to each of their singers and they all bring something to the table. I think Floor is the best all-around singer and perfect for just about everything.

I honestly had never heard that song. I was talking to some people on Discord about “the guy in the Ramones shirt”, and after they told me who he was, I did my research and figured a Di-Rect song was appropriate. Admittedly, though, I did not know that was their biggest hit song, I just chose one I liked. Haha

I'm glad I'm a finn and I can keep these Floor and Tarja's performances close to my heart because There is always two! Was able to watch the whole show thanks to the aforementioned Denis Hofs subtitles. This season was GOLD. Yes, Rolf's Hotel California was great. Henk Poort is a opera and theater GOD in The Netherlands, and one of Floor's heroes. She was in total fan girl mode and it was glorious. That house band was fantastic! Floor opened the season with a song for Henk, and closed the season with Phantom with Henk.

I watched the entire 2019 season of Beste Zangers and I enjoyed everyone's performances. Floor is awesome, and I've yet to see anything that she can't sing, and do a top notch job at it. My favorite Nightwish singer? Yep, I'll always answer Marco.
The 2020 one also was recorded in 2019 because Jan, the usual host was supposed to host the Eurovision song contest at the time they usually record beste zangers. But in the end he didn't host either.. he was sick when they recorded the beste zangers so his friends and duo Nick and Simon went and the Eurovision was cancelled.
And most amazing thing of this show is that it is fairly low budget public TV and all episodes are recorded in 4 days.
No matter what floor does she just makes it so much better to listen to.

another good one with Henk is "vivo per lei" his duett with Emma (the young blond Girl on the couch)... they sing Italian/english Opera... it is incredible... but seriously, its been posted multiple times already. watch the whole show with the subs, I did when it came out and it is amazing. 100% reccomend, 100% worth the time.

Emma and Henk sounds perfectly well, but one of the goals from the show is to see how much the singers step out of their comfort zone by singing the other singers songs. Floor showed that as a metal singer i think that she can also do operatic singing. Its unfortunate most of the other singers did no real metal songs from floor, except for Tim with his Nemo version

Fact for Tank: this year after all the seasons it's voted as the best song of Beste Zangers (and yes! you pronouced it perfect ..and yes! the translation is Best Singers)
This is from the last episode where they all got to choose someone to do a duet with and floor asked henk to do this song. He said he would if he got to do it with nightwish the next time they play in the Netherlands. Floor said she couldn't promise anything but would ask the guys. This was the last song of the last episode of this season and floor opened the season with vilja lied for henk. You should watch that and henk doing sound of silence for floor.
Also floor did a solo tour in the Netherlands with the same band as here and henk did phantom in that show too
I needed recovery time when I saw this on tv. I cried and had to catch my breath. Totally, totally amazing.
Since you are into this thing with its intimate setting: as others already recommended, you should watch the entire season. A few highlights were Emma Heester signing Floor's 'Strong' to her, and Floor singing Tim Akkerman's 'Winner' to him. It's even better when you watch the chat before the performance (subtitled), so you know the meaning of the song to the writer.

Honestly, the whole season (2019) of Beste Zangers was excellent. There are videos with subtitles that go behind the scenes, as well as the actual performances. Floor rocked, as you would expect, but the rest of the cast were very good as well.

The show was "fantastische"! I've watched each episode several time and can say it is easily one of my favorite TV shows ever.
Henk literally never used distortion on his voice ever before this show, the first time he added distortion to his voice was when he sad the sound of silence disturbed version for floor and you could see in the videos before it how nervous he was about adding distortion. His sound of silence is amazing if you check it out.

When just about any band has a change in front-person, it causes endless and pointless arguments about who was better than who. Great to see you react to this.
Beste Zangers is best translated to Dear Singers in this case, I believe. And it's actually the other way around from your fact, one singer is put in the spotlight and the others choose songs to sing for him or her. Either songs by the singer in the spotlight, or songs that have meaning for them. E.g. Rolf Sanchez sings a very fun rendition of Hotel California for Floor, Tim sings Nemo to her, Floor sings Winner (one of Tim's songs) for Tim, etc.

No need to react to it, but you may want to check it out with your significant other ;) The entire season with Floor was subbed by Denise Hofs, who's also a member of your Discord server, though I can only find the episode for Floor on her channel. Tank, one thing I'm not sure was mentioned, when you first start the video and you hear that thunderclap, that was not a sound affect. This show is done on an outdoor stage and this episode was shot in the middle of a rain storm. Also as you watch the video, you will notice extremely large rain drops fall between the singers and the camera. Also, that has to be the best reaction to Floor's voice I've seen on any reaction channel.
Another cool thing about this performance: it was closing song of the show. It was storming and the tent was leaking quite significantly. You can actually hear thunder at the beginning that wasn't part of the song. So, quite the atmosphere for this dramatic masterpiece!

This song was literally the last one on the last episode, the roof on the set started leaking and at this point behind the camera crew was just focused on finishing the show before the set collapses. (all episodes were filmed at Ibiza, Spain)

@@TankTheTech Also Floor is capable of going full opera, she chose this style specifically for this performance. Phantom of the Opera is actually a musical, and then they metaled it up a bit. She has several amazing full blown opera performances, her skill and diversity of training is kind of hard to believe.
Floor is classically trained she went to a rock academy and studied musical theater and classical music she's also a vocal coach and she can sing in 8 languages so she definitely has an operatic background

seriously, I know I'm late to the game with all of your reactions, you have honestly become one of my absolute go-to youtubers...you don't keep your emotions locked up when doing these videos. You aren't afraid to let the music steer your emotional ship. Everything with Nightwish in particular...when I'm in the zone and listening I'm constantly wiping tears away as I drown (in a good way) in it, get washed away by the undertow. It's funny how even the most stoic of people can break down to something as simple as a chord change. Thank you...just...thank you. Not to downplay any other of the great youtube reaction community, you just...I don't know, you just bring a certain authentic flavor. I love Floor so much! I saw them perform this beautiful song live earlier this year at her solo show, so I'm very lucky! But now we should go to Amsterdam on october 18, but yeah covid f*cked it up again and made her to postpone the six shows on three evenings to december, so I cross my fingers!! Hey Tank, The whole show is amazing. Floor performing Shallow is a real standout and even if you don't review or react to it, you should watch it. Her performance is great. She does one version solo and one with one of the other singers, but her solo is the standout. Hank does a cover of Sound of Silence which is chilling. He sounds terrific too. Floor does 6 or seven songs and even learned Spanish to be able to better perform a song for Beste Zangers. Floor rules. Thanks for the review.

Each singer has a turn on "the couch" where the host talks to them about their life and career while the other singers have prepared a song that honors their life or career in some way (for example, covering a song they wrote or an artist that was influential to them). It creates such a great and celebratory vibe, none of the nastiness that passes for "entertainment" in American reality shows. This performance comes from the season finale, where each of the singers has secretly asked another of the singers to sing a duet with them. Floor did not pass up the chance to ask her Phantom of the Opera to sing with her! And when she asked, he said "only if I can sing it with you and Nightwish when you come to the Netherlands." :D
The band is the Marcel Fisser band. They play for Beste Zangers, but also Jan Smit, the host of the show who is a singer himself. Also Nick and Simon, Alain Clark and several television productions. Marcel Fisser himself is a session guitarist for over 30 years.
And the band is also playing with Floor Jansen on her solo tour!

I had the absolute pleasure of watching this episode *LIVE* via the Reacticide Discord server, and no joke - we all had the same mental explosion. The only thing I could say for several minutes was - dead. So your loss of words is apparently TOTALLY understandable.
If you watch the other episode from their season, you can get a sense that the more Tim Akkerman is into what he's hearing, the *deeper* he scowls. This performance was the very last of their season, so all performers were fairly aware of each others' abilities. Episode 1 of the season started with Vilja Lied by Floor, and other than Tim nobody else really knew anything about Floors abilities; just that she 'sang in a metal band.' And she started off with Opera.
And yeah, since the show is highlighting the singers, you rarely get good views of the gear. One thing is for sure, though, and that is the house band is pretty amazing with everything they play.
Another point - I totally agree, I can't get into the argument. I can't stand the feuding. They are all very talented.
Alex fact: Floor was a big fan of Henk when he played the Phantom in the Netherlands and now she had and grabbed her chance to do this duet with her idol from her youth great reaction btw again hahaha and if i'm not mistaken....the show beste zangers 2019 is on you tube with English subs....enjoy
Oh man, so glad you got around to this one! Henk was the Dutch phantom forever, so hearing him sing with distortion is just amazing, he's sooooo far out of his comfort zone, yet pulls it off so well. Also requisite cheeky plug to check out MONO Inc, still think you'll enjoy them.
It is a very nice non competitive show, public TV low budget one but still very well made with a amazing band and it produced some amazing covers and some international hits even. And yes indeed, when floor was struggling with Friday afternoon gigs on festivals, Tim was on the mainstage with the band Di-Rect.
Theres some good songs from this show that I had to add to my spotify list like "Winner" "Mama" "Vilja lied" "Strong", I kinda fell in love with Floor again.

If you watch Floor sing Shallow on Beste Zangers I’d probably wager that the tears would flow from your eyes.
Tim and Floor knew each other from the festival circuit with Di-Rect and ReVamp (???), and Henk knew of Floor and had some idea of what she was capable of, but the rest of the singers really had no clue, so when Floor showed up she blew the rest of them away. I always like the cute moment at 5:15 Floor was just fangirling over Henk - for his song for her (Sound of Silence) and for this song he brought rock distortion to his voice, which is a no-no in Opera.

From the videos i saw from you, you seem to react to a certain note. Just like me, i would say 99% of the time that you shed a tear is the same spot i do. I can hear a certain song 100 times but these notes get me all the time. So powerful!
Floor's version of "winner" is my favorite from that show.

The show is a real treat to watch, there are some translations floating around (Denise, a fan, was translating them until she got copyright smacked by the production company). Seeing musicians singing songs for the joy of it, without there being any competition is awesome. Floor is, well, Floor and it was nice to see her take songs that were either sang by, or good special meaning to the other guests, and make them her own. The other singers are all quite good and there are moving performances from all of them.
She ended up taking the band with her on a solo tour of her country, there’s some video floating around, so you might get a better look at there hear from there.
Henk agreed to do Phantom with her, if he could join her for Phantom onstage during the solo tour and any NW shows in the area. As you saw, he’s opera and it seems he’s Weber’s favorite Phantom performer.
Henk was the Phantom in the Dutch production of Phantom of the Opera when Floor was a girl -so this was very much a dream-come-true moment for her.

Thanks for the hommage to Tim in the end..weird that I didn't notice it the first time. he sure has been in a rollercoaster after leaving Di-rect. Great voice, great guy.. They were quite popular already at the time of that song, probably on the evening part of the festivals where floor did the afternoon with After Forever. (I probably did say this before, health is letting me down a bit)🤘
This show was a bunch of fun to watch. Denise Hofs has every episode of this season with English subtitles available. Before and after each song there's a little bit where they talk about the song, why it was chosen, and other bits of back story. After the song is a bit of reaction and thoughts from individuals. It's a great, feel good show, and Floor's performances were stellar.
And of course, since Marko is the vocal beast of Nightwish, you should check out some of his solo work. I've recommended it before, but I'll recommend it again. Check out For you, or Stars, Sand and Shadow, or War Pigs. They're live shows so plenty of gear to check out :)

Honestly, you can watch literally ANY of Floors' Beste Zangers performances. Time did a cover of Nightwishes "Nemo" and I thought it was very well done. He was the only person who knew what Floor could do and in the first episode, Henk's episode, she blew everyone away.
Also this was from the last episode of that season where they did multiple duets. Floor did another duet with Tim singing "Shallow" in the style she sang in earlier in the season. Henk also agreed to sing this with her under the condition that they can sing it live at one of Nightwish's shows on stage with her, so you WILL be hearing Floor sing this live in Nightwish's style eventually.
I like that you have Di-Rect with Tim as background music at the end!

On another note, From wished to eternity, this live with Tarja is so damn good (can we talk about Deep Silent Complete for sec?). Tarja’s voice has never been better than on this live. And it’s fun because this live is far from a big production and still you feel the grandeur of the band already. I love it!

robert shimek Not really for the past few years. Her « toad » voice isn’t really pretty and sounds off but obv it’s my pov . On the good side of it, she seems really happy on stage to be « her » without Nw.
