I suspect that the reasons he prays to the father are both to be refreshed and to show us that prayer is important. if you read writings from monks and nuns you will hear the phase "the ecstasy of prayer". Wat that means is that you feel the peace and incredible comfort of being in the presence of God. it feels like you are surrounded by comfort and peace. filled fully with the presence of God. I believe that for Jesus to be flesh he still wanted that direct connection to the rest of God. and prayer is the way we do that so why wouldn't God use the same method for Jesus to refuel and return to his ministry to us?
