The chair looks like a great lightweight solution. And thanks to Mark for the comprehensive review, it was awesome.

Thanks for the very thorough review. I've been looking for the right chair for some time now. I found this chair several days ago, but I had not seen a good video until this one. I have a few questions about the chair before I make the purchase. At 13.8" leg height of the chair, I am wondering if getting up out of the chair might be problematic, as I get bouts of pretty bad sciatica often. The very short backpacking chairs are out of the question. The other thing is about the foot stool. I am 6', and I read some reviews saying that it was only useful for smaller people (reviewer was 6'3"). I tend to agree with what you said about supporting the calfs would be more comfortable. I would appreciate any thoughts you might have on those 2 points.
I've been watching your channel for several years now, and always enjoy your reviews. Thanks again, Mark

I've just ordered the Kilos high back chair 2.0 with a 10% discount and a free gift of 3m USB LED String Lights. Now I don't like arms rests and therefore this chair suits me fine and it makes it a little lighter!

That is a nice chair. You brought up some good points 👏. We car camp only in the cold seasons. Our chairs have the extra padding in the back and bottom. Does help on cold nights by the fire. But for fishing, this would light weight chair wold the best.

My camp chairs have been like Gina’s chair. Like from Walmart. The plastic grommets do get brittle and I’ve had them dig into my knees as they start to crack. I got a larger and fancier chair from Walmart that’s only available online. I like that the armrest has a cooler pouch on one side. I keep that chair in my large tent for dressing and enjoying a bug free evening and the pouch is my end table for my camp cot to have handy storage for headlamp, phone, tissue, drink, etc. I have a smaller one for the campfire or for guests

It looks like a perfect fit for my husband who is your height (170 lbs). Me at only 5'2" prefer chairs without headrests because they push my head forward. I find air plane seats quite uncomfortable because they push my head forward which gives me a stiff neck. Just by looking at the two chairs side by side I know I would be more comfortable in Gina's chair, and my husband would definitely prefer the one you just demo'd. Women being more curvy than men need lumbar support. I would be removing that pillow and would put it behind my lower back.

Good point. Gina did try my chair but wants to stay with her own. She did inherit by older backpack size chair and loves that. Thanks for commenting

I agree with you that it may not fit someone who weighs over 300lbs, but the 200lb me would appreciate the weight rating when one of my grandkids wants to jump in my lap. Thanks for the review. I'll have to think about this chair for a bit.

G'day Mark, definitely looks to be well made and great points on ventilation mate !!!.
As a reasonably slender 6 footer, no probs width-wise, (but extra wiggle room always appreciated), and a high back with a head rest, all the better, though ....... it is perhaps sitting a little low for my liking, I tend to feel the front seam of the seat material cutting into the back of my thighs or knees on most camping chairs.
FYI, I have been using a 5 position Colman job car camping for around 10 years, (and I use it at home too); certainly not light weight and compact, as it's a metal alloy frame folding design, but for my stature hard to beat for the dough IMO, (currently 90 AUD). Gotta few battle scars in the form of ember burns, (yeah you get that, lol), and sure the padding aint as fluffy as brand new, but still no need to replace it yet.
    Cheers Duke.

I understand what you are saying. My old Strongback chair still serves after 10 years of use and is very comfortable but it is a big heavy item compared with this chair. Thanks for commenting Duke

I know what you mean about the edge of chair hurting one's legs. I put a cushion or a folded blanket on the seat which solves that problem. I also have a back support in my drivers seat I can use for my back in if I want.
The best coat for sitting out on a cold night is one of those huge ones with hood meant for after a swim. I always bring that camping for sitting out in. Warm, wind and waterproof and super cosy.

As always a good thorough review.
I have the Kilos high back V1, not sure what the differences are but the main one I see is the amount of mesh in the V2 , personally I prefer more material than mesh, in the UK even in the summer the evenings have a chill unless we are having a heat wave.
I have down covers from another chair that make it nice and cozy when it gets cool.
High back, arm rest, compact, plus a foot rest makes this a great chair for car camping.
I have always found the standard chair like Gina has to be quite uncomfortable for my frame, my Helinox chair zero is more comfortable.

    • @MarkYoungBushcraft
      @MarkYoungBushcraft  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yes, I can see the how the mesh can be too cool. Also allowing mosquitoes to bite in summer. I place a simple fleece blanket in mine to keep my back warm. Thanks for commenting

ooof, Aug. 2024 it's now $166 CAD before taxes. I may buy it at some point and maybe it's worth it but that price puts it at the bottom of my list of gear to get for next year unfortunately. Good review though, had me very interested until I checked the current price.
