Hi Luke, great review. I think for my standard of golf, I could go down the line of maybe Wilson clubs and other brands, pay quite a lot less and still have the enjoyment and results I want. The cheaper end of the market has definitely improved. I couldn't justify paying for these irons.
Hey Luke, this is a review I've really been looking forward to so thanks for this video. As you may remember, I had Callaway Apex CF16 irons for many years before switching to my current set so I'm a bit of a Callaway Apex fanboy. I am intrigued by these irons but unfortunately the local stores in my area don't have them in stock so I haven't been able to demo them. I really like the look of them but have heard the black finish starts to wear really quickly. Another resaon why the high price may not be justified. I'm heading to Edinburgh again for the holidays and then to Portugal for the winter so hopefully I'll get my hands on a demo iron while in Europe.
Hi Gary! No problem at all! Hope it was helpful! Definitely worth a hit if you can get your hands on them! Hard for me to comment on the finish but have also read some mixed things about it - in my experience that’s always a risk with any club that has a finish on it and would probably be another consideration too! Enjoy the holidays and safe travels! 👍🏼
I did used to show the TrackMan shot tracer but for this video I filmed from behind to put real shot tracers on it so it was better for the viewer and then the footage didn’t come out great! Apologies! Will definitely make sure there’s something like in my other videos! 👍🏼
Was a d9 forged player but have recently been for a fitting at Orka and will be changing to their rsx1 hollow body iron. More loft, more launch, more spin and most surprisingly more ball speed and distance. The orka 7 iron i compared with my wilson 7 was 34 degrees compared to 30.5 of rhe Wilson. 112 ball speed with a spin rate of 5000 is impressive. I don't think they doleft handed clubs otherwise i would definitely recommend you try them.
Hi Jim! I've heard great things about Orka! A friend of a friend worked for them for a while and spoke incredibly highly about them even off the record! At the time, where they were a smaller challenger brand it was rightie only but every few months I scan through all of the similar size brands to see if they have leftie and when they do I'll reach out to try and get my hands on them!
@weekendtourpros that's good to hear. Alex is a great guy and obviously passionate about his products. I guess if they continue to grow he might release some left handed options. I was impressed with the process of fitting first for what is basically a dtc iron. I came out 2 degrees flat which has never happened before but as soon as he put me into a flatter lie my left shape decreased, carry and ball speed went up and dispersion decreased. Can't wait for next year when my goal is get my handicap down to 5. Made it to 8 this year. Got a driver fitting next Saturday so we'll see what comes of that. Keep up the good work with the channel.
@jimwocha4949 sounds brilliant Jim! You’re also not the first person I’ve heard praise their fitting process! Like you say Alex is very passionate - and that’s all we want as golfers right? Sounds like you’re making amazing progress with your own game! Keep focusing on getting 1% better everyday and you’ll get there no problem! 👍🏼
The best clubs i ever had were the Hogan Apex the small head you had to hit the ball dead centre or it was going no where and it taught me how to hit the centre every shot. You wont get that with modern clubs
Hi Alan! Thanks for watching! Love that! A bit of googling tells me they were around in the 1970's, is that right? I guess that's the dilemma with modern clubs - balancing the appetite to make golf (an already tough game!) easier and more appealing vs. teaching people better ball striking from the start?

Very similar to me John! And you are spot on that the less expensive clubs are just as good these days!
Well done some good points made. Wilson D9 forged for me.
Thanks Paul! You know I love Wilson clubs so totally hear you! 👍🏼
