Hey Leigh, great video and incredible guitar. I don't know if you've done one because I'm fairly new to your channel but could you do a video of your rig, what you use, your guitars, etc? Cheers. Mike.
Hey Mike, Thanks so much for checking out the video and leaving a comment! Do you mean the rig I use for making videos? I've not done a video like that as of yet, but I do have some stuff like that planned. The closest I have so far is this time last year I did a short series on building my new studio set up and that covers a little bit of the gear that I use, but I will definitely be doing more of that in the coming year.
Oh man, these Stanfords are seriously good guitars. They outperform guitars in much higher price brackets. If you like a 335, this is a great variation on it. It's a little lighter in weight than a regular 335 but it still sounds awesome.
best Guitar ever...you can bye one for 2000 ,- more but this Guitar will gonna kill you... Best bye ever ...THX. Happy Christmas in round from Hamburg..
They make fantastic guitars! You could probably get one way cheaper in Hamburg. Thomann sell these for closer to 1000eur! They're amazing instruments for a third of the price of a Gibson!
Stanford guitars are incredible. They offer people really high end feeling guitars but for fairly reasonable prices. You don't need to spend thousands anymore to get great guitars!
Cette guitare est magnifique . Je ne trouve hélas pas assez d’informations en français. Je me demande si elle tiens la comparaison avec un Tokai ou une Gibson un peu plus chère.
I have wondered about this guitar for a while particularly against the Eastman t386 and such. What do you mean by veneer body? Usually these are laminate maple, that is the original construction made. Veneer is super thin and usually aesthetically interesting, so I doubt they would just layer veneers on top of each other 😅
I've heard loads of really great stuff about Eastman guitars, but I haven't gotten around to trying one out myself yet. They're meant to be great. These Stanfords are in a similar price point and are also made in China to the same standards. The Specs on Thomann say the top, back and sides are all veneered maple so it would be a typical maple style body with a flamed veneer over the top redir.love/thoprod/420758?offid=1&affid=683
You are correct, these guitars have laminated bodies, just like the original, but guitars like this Stanford will have a thin veneer layer on top of the top maple layer so they don't have to use high grade maple. Another difference with more high end models, like Gibson and Heritage, is that the latter ones will have a three layer laminate and the more affordable ones five layer. The three layer laminate is more resonant than a five layer, but more difficult to make apparently and therefor more expensive. People often forget this, you can swap out pick-ups, wiring loom, pots, hardware etc. but you can never equal the resonance of a high end (semi) hollow body because of the different body construction and with (semi) hollow bodies, it makes a real difference. Premium jazz boxes have solid wood carved tops but that is a whole different ball game. These Stanfords are excellent guitars by the way, just like Eastman.
@@LeighFugeGuitar not anymore, apparently. It is really a joy to play. And no fret dressings or nut filings or anything else. It's like I just got it back from my luthier friend. I doubt a setup was done in shop before shipping, so absolutely impressed.
I fully agree with that! Growing up I LOVED Les Pauls. It was the perfect guitar for me... but when I first played a 335 style, it was a game changer. It was like all the tones I could get from my Les Paul and way more.
Hey Christian, Pretty much the same as any 335 style guitar. The strap button is on the neck heel so there is always a little neck dive with this style of guitar, but if you have a wide strap it won't go anywhere. It only dives on thin, slippery straps.
It's a beautiful guitar, I really like the nitro sateen finish. However, no mater how you try to sell it , it's a Chinese guitar. Thats not to say the Chinese aren't capable of making quality guitars, because the Chinese quality control has come a long way and is actually pretty impressive these days. But the idea that that guitar has been priced over $1,000 and probably came out of the same factory as my EART 335 is in my opinion grossly over priced. I personally would not pay more than $380. THATS WHAT I SPENT ON MINE AND WOULDN'T YOU KNOW IT, THOSE PICKUPS SOUND JUST LIKE MINE....

just bought a 2e hand one ,great guitar !

Always wanted a 335, this just might be it. :) sounds and looks awesome.

Sounds awesome mate! Definitely a great cost effective alternative.
You'd love these! You need to get one!
That's a beautiful guitar, love the colour and finish! Those bright tone gives more tonal options which is good for gain setting I guess

Awesome guitar Leigh, and the studio looks great man 😀🤘🎵🔥🔥🔥
Thank you man, thanks for checking it out! I love these guitars!
Which one do you prefer? The 30 (P90) or the 35 (humbucker version)?
I prefer the 30, because it’s fully hollow and the P90s sound wonderful, but both are great and I play them both regularly
Great video! can you measure neck thickness on first and 12 fret please? that would be great information for me. thanks!
I’d be interested in a comparison with the Eastwood version of the 335
I haven't tried any of the Eastwood stuff, but that could be pretty cool! I'll see if I can make that happen.

I would say it easily competes with Gibson. Everyone I know that owns one loves it!
@@LeighFugeGuitar merci beaucoup 👍

Just bought one. When did Stanford become independent from Furch? BTW, the guitar is a sleeper. Mine came perfect out of the box.
They're such underrated guitars! They're so good. I didn't know they were associated with Furch.

Not sure if independent is the right word but looks like they were originally made at Furch in Czech Republic and now they're made in China.
@@myphone5242 no, new owners affiliated with Maybach guitars.
I always say that if you find the 335 style guitar that resonates with you, that it can almost be better than any LP style guitar out there.
I fully agree with that! Growing up I LOVED Les Pauls. It was the perfect guitar for me... but when I first played a 335 style, it was a game changer. It was like all the tones I could get from my Les Paul and way more.
Ct 335 or ct 330 ??
Hey Vincent,
This guitar in the video is the 35.
Or are you asking me which I prefer?
@@LeighFugeGuitar i'm shure you prefer the 30 ! No ?
Yeah out of the two I prefer the 30, but they are both amazing instruments. I just love the hollow body of the 30 paired with the P90 pickups.
How does it balance with a strap?
Hey Christian,
Pretty much the same as any 335 style guitar. The strap button is on the neck heel so there is always a little neck dive with this style of guitar, but if you have a wide strap it won't go anywhere.

@@LeighFugeGuitar Thanks for the reply, much appreciated ;-)
And how's the clean tone?! With distortion guitars sound the same!
There is an entire section of the video where I play clean, that should give you the answers you need
Copy of a copy? (Eastman T386) Great guitar, by the way.
I wouldn't have said a copy of a copy, I'd have just considered it to be a 335 style guitar.
That's an awesome looking and sounding guitar...buuut it's a pity that's it's not perfectly in tune. Would make the video even better ☺️
Close enough is good enough
