Neofolk is more interesting than anything Vargs ever been able to come up with to my ear. Rather listen to The Dead,Love,Cream,or Quicksilver than Burzum although I guess I can see why the band has such critical acclaim. I like Hades,Fleurety, Enslaved,Mayhem,Ulver,Carpathian Forest,Satyricon,Thorns,Ved Buens Ende (especially "Those who caress The Pale") and Darkthrone much more I would say. Ofc Bathory were likely the true originators,Venom came first I guess but sound more like speed metal to my ears than what those bands were doing.
@@WocklessGamingforAnimeMoms Dude ... where is MANES, DODHEIMSGARD and VIRUS in that lovely collection of norwegian bands ? " what do you mean , " especially " those who caress the pale " ? What´s wrong with " Written in waters " ? I bet you also own that incredible version boxset Misanthropy put out in the 90s of " Those who caress the pale " ... that must be of some value nowadays ... to me its priceless ... what a priceless recording that was . That much less muddy production with all that intensity comng out instead of the murky , moody sounds of " Written in waters " ( very different moods but I love both ) .
@@WocklessGamingforAnimeMoms Yeah , Virus is just a continuation of Ved Buens Ende really ... without Vicotnik´s BM vocals and more technical and dissonant . Vicotnik even wrote a song for them which will probably blow you away like it did me when I 1st listened to it . " Road " it´s called .
