The strange thing for me is I always thought Betty crocker was a real person and I thought Duncan Hines was just a brand name. I learned later on but before this video. That I had it completely backwards.

Great tour of the Duncan Hines museum, thank you Lamont. The kitchen area reminded me of how my mother's looked when us kids were really young. The fridge and stove, and the old mixer on the counter brought back memories. Our treat was the DH Devil's Food cake mix and my mother made her own icing with powdered sugar and chocolate that came in cubes. This was a once a week thing we always looked forward to. The old mixer on the counter is like one I still have that was given to me. From around the 1940's. It still works. Thanks again, Lamont, you are much appreciated.

Dear, Sweet, Always Humble, Lamont ❤️...
I don't know why you would be surprised by so many people following you to any other channel that you produce! I mean, what's not to love about a good looking, well-spoken, honest, intelligent, but still humble all-American gentleman who travels far and wide to not only indulge his own passions - but who also shares them with us? We always get a history lesson, and usually about something or someone we've likely never heard of before, always related to us in your own inimitable and very personable style. And it certainly does not hurt that you're handsome and have an appreciation for beautiful ink as well! So, I really don't know why you would be so surprised at such an early success for your new channel, but I'm already enjoying it very much - and I know I'm far from alone in that : )
Take care, be safe, and be blessed.
With much love, from Janell W., Australia ❤️ XX

Of course as a kid going to the grocery store with mom, I would be like, look mom, theirs the Duncan Hines!! Please buy some lol. I do remember how moist the cakes were!! I just thought it was a name of a cake mix. Thanks for enlightening us on this history!!

I had always assumed Duncan Hines was a real person but never really thought to find out, even when the internet came along. If you notice the never used his likeness on the box. I have a question for anyone who knows. What would the US Dollar in Duncan Hines day be worth compared to the value it has today if you take away inflation?

Wow, Lamont, I really enjoyed this video on Duncan Hines! I remember my Mom buying some of his box cake mixes when I was a kid and she did think their quality was a cut above. Had heard he would take notes and make observations as he traveled and knew his name got attached to quality products but little else, so you filled out that information in very nicely and the museum was fun to tour,I'm glad you stopped there. Nothing like good old American ingenuity! He saw an unmet need and filled it, with great success, too. Someone really spent time on those two stones, they were white as snow.May Duncan and his family rest in peace. As a little kid in the fifties, I remember all of this stuff developing, the wide, open roads being built, the ads on TV, the cars with the fancy grills and big fins, etc.

I can see young Lamont holding up a Duncan Hines cake mix at the grocery store.
“Mommy can we get this?” He says with a bright smile as he is holding up that box high with both hands.
His mother looks down at her child in deep thought before a punch comes out and striking the poor kid in the stomach. He drops the cake mix on the floor while his mom grabs him by the arm and spirits him away.
(Camera zooms in on the cake mix laying on the linoleum grocery store floor as the narrator speaks.)
“Lamont never got his cake mix that day or any other time. He ate kool-aid stained stale bread for birthday.”
