The song is basically about traveling in a timestream, the connections between him and the others searching/testing pathways and the "anchor", which is essentially the point they need to get to, once a clear pathway is found. He wants a telepathic message, bringing him hope. I'm not sure if any of it is quotes from books or such, or if he just placed it there in order to get the message across.
