Hi! I’m fairly new to billing. Received a denial that the claim is not reimbursable for non-physicians. My provider is a licensed obgyn which can perform such service. I have reviewed the claim form and I am confused as to why we are having that denial. My question is, when billing for a professional claim, on box 33 for cms 1500, do I have to leave the npi blank or do I have to put the group’s npi? Hopefully this gets answered
For most payers you would need to put the practice NPI. You may also want to call the payer and see if that is the true denial reason and if so you may have to research further how the provider is credentialed with the payer.
Each insurance company is different and you would need to contact them to find out what they will and will not allow. Most insurances allow a PO Box in box 33, since that is where payment would be mailed if you receive paper checks, but box 32 is tricky. This box should list where services are rendered.
That's a glitch in the online form I was using. The explanation was more for what to put in the boxes and not necessarily the amounts or information in the boxes. They were all fictitious info. Also, lab tests cost different amounts.
@@MedicalBillingMaven Thanks. I was using that info. to fill some fictitious amounts myself for a course I am doing. But then when it became $2000, I was wondering if my number should have been in the thousands. Thanks again.
Thank you for sharing this video was very helpful for my study so i have a question please if im the spouse of the INSURED which number of INSURED ID should we put ? My number or or the INSURED please can you help me thank you

@stephanymarshall8610 I appreciate you saying that, but I only bill for private practice, so I don't use the CMS 1450 form.

@@MedicalBillingMaven thank you. When you say practice npi you are referring to the individual provider and not the group’s npi?
What if you are a virtual practice ? what do you enter in boxes 32 and 33 ? Do all insurance companies accept PO box addresses in box 32 and box 33 ?

Hello, I am needing some assistance with billing for wound care, can you help or point me in the right direction?
I've never billed for wound care, but what exactly do you need help with?
The INSURED ID number you entered is the spouse ID number or the policyholder the husband?
The insured ID number is the number on the patient's ID card.
Hi, Your charge suddenly went from $20.00 to $2000.00. What was up with that? Which is correct for a lab test? How much would a lab charge?

You should put the ID number for the patient. For the most part, each person under the policy has their own ID number.
@@MedicalBillingMaven thank you very much for your reply your video was the best for CMS1500 !
@@MedicalBillingMaven and i put INSURED'S name the person who insured me right? Not self? Because i am the spouse
@@lizat.7989 The insured's name is the person the policy is for.
