Haha, i just read your comment while listening to this song. I swear i first hear it @ Fire-and-ice in Miami (80s) too. Or maybe it was at "the kitchen", lol.
I have this album (actual vinyl, lol) My sister and I went to see them play at a local bar (the Wine Gallery) in Melbourne Florida in 1988. We were among only about 10 people in the place. I picked up the record in '92 at a little independent music and clothing store in downtown Melb. called Thee Shoppe. Good times! I was surprised to see this song on here!
Kim knows. That’s so cool. We played Melbourne‘s classic bar all thanks go to the college radio station playing this song. Yeah it was a tiny club but so fun and we were paid $900 cash...that was more than we made in Lauderdale, Gainesville, Orlando and Miami combined. Melbourne Florida will always have a warm place in my heart. God bless the Ten inch men I was there
I bought this blind (at Wax n Facts in Atlanta) based on the recommendation of my cool-girl girlfriend. The super-placid-above-it-all worker stopped at this record in the pile, looked up, and said "Are you from Melbourne (Florida)?" She affirmed this and he said "There are only two places where this was a hit... " and told us the rest of the story. I still have the record, even though she went back in the sea. She later sold her music collection, the ultimate vindication that she was not the right one.
I’m from Melbourne, and it was played a lot in the clubs there and around there. Not sure if it was a hit anywhere else (nor do I care really), but it obviously stuck with me.
Thanks for posting this. I recall playing this album on KCPR when released. Years had passed and I found a recording of my show with this song. It took me some time to figure out who it was. This was really underappreciated.
the song on this ep for me is that last one "new eyes." the singer should have been a star for sure, and it comes through most on that ballad. he doesn't croon, just rips into it and hold these long notes that disintegrate perfectly. I'll rip and upload it when I get a minute.
Hey, were you able to get "New Eyes" Up? Dave is my all time favorite singer, and I'd love to hear the one you like so much. The first time I heard Hello Hello by Talk Show I was floored, as he was holding notes and such. It's a shame we don't get to hear more from Dave these days.
I doubt the band or record company would approve of strangers posting sometimes disparaging comments. It's hard enough to get a fanbase as it is. But I guess some people can get away with anything.
Reminds me of great times at Fire and Ice in Miami...

Got the special edition of Pretty Vultures with this track included, but it's a re-recorded version. I must say, this one is much better!

Where, in this clerk's mind, was the other place this was a hit? It hit pretty well on the college circuit.

@DecidedlyIndecisive09 played a lot on WFIT college radio station
This was in heavy rotation on my radio show @ KCPR, San Luis Obispo, all those many days ago. Great time travel today.
OMFG so great - just traveled back in time to late 80s college radio... what a sound.
Nice, I've always loved this song. Takes me back to about 15 or 16. Ah, the simple days...

One of my all time favs!
Same here (heard it first at F&I), then tripped to it a few times since ; )
so great to this again!

I used to get stoned to this song. I love it!
his voice reminds me a lot of liam gallagher
Gengis Diaz - Dave Coutts on vocals. Check him out with Talk Show. Very Liam-esque.
I own the album, maybe better than any STP album
@@gengisdiaz - Agreed!
I think you might have heard this, but if not..

Thirteen years ago!!! And they're still pushing the same ole garbage.
Flower Power came out in 1986 and Ten Inch Men broke up in 1993 after Pretty Vultures was released.

No one posted any negative comments.
This song is great but it would be even better if they re-recorded it. Not all the production works.
They did re-record it! th-cam.com/video/6rm57abWGG4/w-d-xo.html
