Yeah Kizaru forgot part of that equation. He’s either a .22 or a laser beam. Luffy has magnum level attacks lol and is apparently more resistant to heat than ever.
The Celestial Dragon complaining to Akainu about not being able to get Lobster was a great touch. Really shows that the blockade of Marijoa is having an effect, even if they aren't starving yet.
Seeing Akainu do something after almost 600 chapters was very exciting. Too bad it was against Kuma who we all know is the least deserving of being melted.

I think Akainu has a deeper connection to Kuma and Bonney. These last chapters have had a theme of the admirals facing people they have a connection with. Kuzan with Garp, Kizaru with Vegapunk, and now Akainu with Kuma. they also cut back to when Akainu captured Bonney which was always odd to me that she somehow escaped without explanation.

I feel like Oda is saving Akainu’s back story for the right time and I’m predicting it will be very sad. Oda will get us to understand Akainu’s philosophy for absolute justice. That backstory could have a connection with the revolutionary army.

I might be thinking WAY too much into this, but when Akainu called Kuma "pet", I felt like was maybe reflecting on himself.
He questioned Kuma almost like He was genuinely trying to understand why Kuma was still moving after all He's been through.
Yeah, I felt that too. The Navy's "Mad Dog" can't do as he likes anymore. If he was still just an Admiral, he'd have lobbied to put down Luffy the minute the Emperor talk came up (like how Greenbull tried). But instead, he's guarding a bunch of man-children who don't understand the first thing about lean times as they whine about no cake or lobster to eat for Second Breakfast.
I too had the feeling he was kinda reflecting on himself.

I really got the sense that Akainu sees a bit of himself in Kuma, and if things had continued to deteriorate, some of those Celestial Dragons might’ve “accidentally” been melted.
I think the difference in feel between admirals and yonkou is, the Emperors feel like massive raid bosses, while Admirals feel like min-maxed solo fighters. I dont know if one is better than the other, but at least you can all bombard a raid boss, whereas a dangerous solo enemy means you gotta be more strategic, and it's a lot harder to damage them.
Edit: this is not a powerscaling thing. Powerscaling in OP is kinda pointless imo. I just mean from a perception in story.
People wanna have one over the other so bad but i still think they're about the same, admirals were just more involved thru out the series and the Straw Hats had to get away from them somehow each time, while the Yonko are just now finally being dealt with so they feel more imposing but in this final saga we can finally see the admirals and yonko go all out.
why are we making it such a big and complicated thing ? it's really simple we just have to wait a couple of chapters to end this debate once and for all , if kizaru doesn't put as much of a fight against luffy as kaido or if he just can't get past luffy and he just can't stop them escaping then it should be clear cut imo

Oda's artwork this chapter was top shelf. That panel of Kizaru flying into Vega 1 was so clean, he really knows how to display that man's speed and impact.

The turmoil Kizaru is going through kind of puts Garps choice to remain Vice Admiral into perspective.
Kind of weird that the Iron Giant is just now reactivating when Luffy had already used G5 against Lucci - and from how interpreted G5, Luffy making his heart beat like the drums of liberation is what results in him turning into the G5 Nika form. So... Iron Giant was just sleepy? First alarm goes off "just 5 more minutes" and presses the snooze button

I think you made a really good point about how people Akainu spoke to turn against their allies. In a way, this is opposite to what Mihawk says about Luffy and his power to bring allies to himself. Could this be an intentional character contrast written in by Oda? Luffy brings people together. Akainu tears them apart.
I love Kizaru. Its impossible to get a read in him. Everything he does reads as so non-chalant and sarcastic that you can't tell if he's being serious about anything he says or does.
Egghead is officially the first Arc since Marineford where all three of the original logia admirals have present day(both in-world & in-publication) fights, named attacks, character development etc.
I really like Morg’s latest video that suggests the rest of OP will be a revenge tour because that means we finally get much needed details about some of the coolest OG OP villains: Akainu, Aokiji, and Kizaru.
P.S. don’t forget we still need a Punk Hazard flashback during the fleet admiral war.
Would make 100% sense for Kuma to land at Egghead, huge parallel from Sabaody, the straw hats lost the first time against Kizaru and Kuma( Kuma clearly wanted them to become stronger before he turned to a full on Terminator) but this time Kuma could be huge help with might result in a death… the world may never know
I fully expect him to paw the Sunny away once everyone is on board as his final sacrifice before at last dying. Whether it's at the hands of Kizaru or the Mother Flame (which I believe will destroy Egghead outright) remains to be seen

One of the weirdest things in this chapter was Akainu using his Admiral drip, instead of his Fleet Admiral Drip. Very interesting decision to have him revert his clothing for the action.
I think Oda is going with designs similar to Film Red. Kizaru's suit design seems to be the Film Red one, so Akainu may be wearing a black suit.

@@femthingevelynUsually logias are immune to their own element. The logic with fire vs magma(aside from them being different things) is manga is at a much higher temperature than Ace's fire. In the case of Franky's lazer beams I doubt it's going to do much. A mirror might actually be more effective even if only slightly. Using lazer beams against Kizaru is like trying to kill Monet but turning on the AC.

I think Kuma had a fail safe installed on himself just like the time he stayed to protect the Sunny. That activated when Bonney got into his memories.
I’m willing to bet that he is only going to Egghead to apologize in person to Bonney for leaving her alone. She already saw his memories and understands why Kuma did what he did but I’m sure he asked Vegapunk to let him talk to her one last time. Only to apologize. And it’s going to be a sad sad scene.

I used to think they would be able to put Kuma’s memories into S-Bear but now I feel like that’s a lil bit of a cop out? Also the Seraphim seem to already have personalities so killing S-Bear’s to put Kuma there seems kinda wrong. Now I think Bonney will just stay with S-Bear and raise him as a younger brother.

Oh, a chapter with the Red Line! I think I found out the inspiration for that. I was recently on the Zugspitze, the highest mountain in the Alps. That place has a bunch of telescopes and maps pointing out different mountain peaks and even some cities. One of those is the "Rote Wand" (Red Wall). The Rote Wand is a lot smaller than the Red Line, but it's still ca. 2700 m high.

KUMA IS IN THE IRON GIANT. I’m calling it now. Kuma’s real personality is in the iron giant. And the iron giant’s initial directive is what is directing Kuma’s body. Which is why Kuma is attacking Mariejoise. He would have no reason to cause tons of explosions if all he was doing is rushing to Egghead. He would have just paw-bubbled himself again when he got to the top if that was his goal.
Akainu is portrayed consistently the most lethal fighter in all one piece. The only guy that goes straight for the kill. Every time he fights he takes limbs or open holes😂 Kuma this chapter got the special treatment and got both of them😂 In addition akainu has the highest kill rate. Straight gangsta and the only one that brings a real sense of danger.

We did, a theory has been going around that luffy's fruit could be a potential source of power for the mother flame
Mainly because Luffy already used G5 against Lucci and nothing happened, remains to be seen whether this was a simple oversight by Oda or it had reason to it.

Physicist irl here, acceleration is the rate of change of velocity over time, velocity is meters per second. Acceleration is meters per second per second. Force is the rate of change of momentum, which is mass times velocity. So the greater mass or the greater velocity the greater momentum, the quicker that momentum changes over time. And the greater the force.
All that works differently though because kizaru moves at light speed, mass increases towards infinity as you approach light speed.He is probably massless tho. kicking you at the speed of light results in basically you getting kicked with an infinite amount of force.
Luffy tanking the frontier dome TWICE is honestly not too surprising but, it is amazing. I feel like Oda is trying to make a point about Luffy's strength by nerfing him at the start of the fight.
We don't even know how much damage Kizaru's kick did to Luffy. We just know he saw it coming and put his hand up to guard. He didn't even comment on it and only said the frontier dome really hurt.

He told him he would kill him is Sengoku let him up, which he eventually did. I think it’s inevitable.
So the giant powering up, a lot of people talk about it being the drums of liberation. However, I think it's just solar power.
With the damage the robot has recieved over the years, and the fact that it suddenly appeared "out of nowhere", it wouldn't be too far fetched to say that the past 600 years before it's attack, it has been at the bottom of the ocean, recieving very little to no sunlight. It didn't "suddenly" power up, it just recieved enough sunlight for it to be powered up.

Full disclosure: I'm commenting right after reading the chapter, but before watching the video.
The reason Kuma is attacking Marijoa might be the same reason the robot awoke. The drums of liberation have been rung, and Kuma attacked. Could also explain why Vegapunk couldn't tell Bonnie: if she knew about the Void Century and the World Government, she would be in serious danger. That's why Kuma didn't want her to know!
Something I'm wondering about is the fact that Luffy whipped out Gear 5 thrice now. Like, obviously he's trying it out to get used to it, but it's being used...TOO quickly, I think. Normally this would make the impact lose its luster but Oda isn't a fool. I have a feeling that the downsides of going gear 5 are going to be more than just "being dead tired".
With the Vegaforce 1 now destroyed, and the giant robot activated I can only see a few escape possibilities... the most likely one is Kuma pawing the Sunny to Elbaf just before he dies unfortunately 😢

i doubt kuma have enough time to teleport to egghead atm, his teleportation took 3 days to arrive to any island especially from mariejoies to egghead
After the escape I think they run into Coby's gang and/or Law, and then they are going to head towards Hachinosu to save Garp and/or Law's crew.
But also Elbaf is kind of in beetween Egghead and Hachinosu, so it is in the way, so they may visit the Island, and it could actually be the place when they run into Law and/or Coby.

Hold on, I have an idea... How big is the iron giant? Because, what if the way they manage to escape is with the iron giant literally carrying them like Vegaforce 1 was doing but because he is bigger and stronger it works? That would be a really "metal" way of escaping the marines
I guess, but luffy can literally expand his body to be so big he could always just tie a rope to the sunny, throw it and the crew, then shrink and then just get pulled along by the sunny

Small note: Bonney didn't grow weird snake arms when attacking Kizaru; she grabbed a pipe from the destroyed Vegaforce-01 to hit Kizaru with. According to the translation I read she used the same "Timely Thrust" technique she used to push Vegapunk's year-crystals out of him. It seems like Bonney either needs a tool to perform that technique, or she's just an improvisational fighter that always uses scrap lying around to fight (she's been somewhat consistent with that so far in this arc)

I think Luffy can still take so much more than this. Though him falling out of Gear 5 would be a major problem in a fight against Kizaru.

Gear 4 snake man was not fast for him unlike kaido that said he was unable to se eluffy attacks before using future sight.
