There's two things thinking back on this episode now that I'm rewatching it with you. First, the author had a chance to write out unlikable characters by using the plot pretense of the parents not approving them in the dorm. Yet he chose not to standing by his character choices. Which I think is ultimately a good thing by not bowing down to audience or other outside pressure. Second, there's a "prequel" manga My Hero Academia Vigilantes that takes place a few years before this in which the teacher Eraser Head plays a role. there's a running theory that Shoji is a Buddhist, his minimalist lifestyle runs with the theory, some Buddhism follows with you only need things that truly serve a purpose, his bed (for sleeping) and his desk (for his schoolwork) everything else is just excessive and not actually necessary for living, he gets his food from the dorms common area or the school canteen, if he has need of entertainment its likely exercise, meditation or the schools library or dorm common room
Episode: *emotional reminder* fun times..fun times..fun...*EMOTIONAL GUT PUNCH*. I do like this episode a lot, you see everyone's personalities from it and it's well done.
I love everyone's dorms! :D I also love the fact that EVERYONE just IGNORED Minato and walked past XD Honestly, I don't blame them. I don't even want to KNOW what horrors that perv has in his room
I don't know if this was ever confirmed but I remember reading that the reason Mineta exists is because the author of My Hero likes that type of humor. Apparently they decided to put it all into one character instead of having several people be pervy because they knew that kind of character is really unlikable. Basically, they wanted that type of humor in the manga but didn't want to make other characters bad by spreading it out, so Mineta exists. While I don't like Mineta at all, I'd rather him being the only one like this rather than several of the other boys also having that sort of nasty behavior.
7:30 he found out the cost from Denki 11:37 i love when he says it like this 13:30 hehe aw I never looked closely Petting Koda's bunny while wearing Tenya's glasses hehe
It's just a culture difference. Remember: you are watching japanese shows, these Mineta scenes are funny in Japan and the same happens with a lot of animes (Hisoka from Hunter x Hunter is another example, japanese women love that creep lol).
26:50 amidst an emotional moment Iida never ceases to make me (and JP/honorific understanders) laugh with his "Tsuyu-chan-kun!" -san -sama -chan -kun ; common honorifics. Asui Tsuyu prefers "Tsuyu-chan" i.e. address me cutely like we're already familiar/friends. Izuku calls boys -kun and females -san (except when saying Tsuyu-chan). Iida calls _everyone_ -kun. Midoriya-kun, Uraraka-kun. (as general student pattern I mean). Iida calls everyone -kun, but Tsuyu wants to be called Tsuyu-chan. So he calls her "Tsuyu-chan"-kun 😆
On the subject of Froppy, I wonder what your reaction to her best friend from Middle School and the story of how they became friends will be. I believe there's an episode or special with them doing a joint training excersise with that school.
I can’t wait for her to find out who the leak is. She will never guess it in 1 million years. I don’t think there was a single person in the entire MHA community who suspected who it ended up being😂
Im having a problem. Im starting to enjoy Mineta, because of your reaction to him. So when whenever he starts doing/saying anything im finding it funny, because of how much you hate him.
I wonder if Alicia realizes how some of the stuff she says would come across if she was a short, pasty Mineta. ;) No one thinks Mineta behaves well, but he is to horn dogs as Bakugo is to hot heads. If you really don't see _anything_ about yourself reflected in him, you're a saint or you're lying to yourself. XD
Bit late here, you might not see this, kinda binging these at the moment, but I've always wanted to like Mineta. Emphasis on WANTED, having an unlikable little creepis fertile soil for character growth and an arc about respecting women/boundaries, and going from being someone who has to try to be liked, to someone who deserves it would be cool, and you can even see them toy with the idea in the exam with the teachers, where he talks about his classmates not being cool because they're heroes, where it's a status symbol that MAKES them cool, but being heroes because they're cool, where being genuine, cool people made them want to become heroes. He used to phase me a lot less because I grew up with characters like Master Roshi, Kon from Bleach, Jiraiya from Naruto, and so on, but they all had a different thing going on that (theoretically, results may vary) made them being perves a good joke. Like Master Roshi's whole bit is that you expect this wizened old man, legendary master of the martial arts, to be in complete control of himself, to live up to the legend. Him being this rumored hermit, martial arts master leads you to expect like, Mr. Miyagi from Karate Kid, but then you meet him and he's just comedically disappointing. Kon is like, a stuffed animal buddy, so you'd think he's all cutesy and lovable but actually it's just the whole Seth Macfarlane Ted bit, where the kids toy is a foul mouthed asshole. Mineta...does not do anything like that. What you see is what you get. MAYBE it's that he's in the Hero course, and the contradiction with him essentially being a sex offender in spite of that is the joke? But I dunno, if that were the case you'd think the story would communicate that better though. Like, they introduced Bakugou as a vicious bully who told the protagonist to kill himself, I feel like if they really wanted to, they could get something really cool from Mineta. Not caught up on the manga, so as far as I know they HAVEN'T, but still.
Yooo fuckin horokoshi did it again, yo why does Kaminari have tissues on other side of the table by the bed ………….. yeah you know what he be using them for 13:40 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣💀💀💀💀💀💀💀
the issue of a spy at UA was not delt with in the manga until after season 5 was finished. No voice actor or animator knew if there was a traitor or who it was in an episode you will see for a long time. Kirishima is rich. he would need a huge allowance to save up that much at 15. In the manga during a dark point, he destroys the punching bag in his room and casually orders another online.
In the early seasons I tolerate Mineta because he gives creates situations for our cast to demonstrate their personalities and powers. Each time he goes off on something pervy we get to see how various guys respond and try to stop him, with only Mr. Aizawa having consistent success, so then the girls get to respond and use their abilities to punish his attempt. By the time any fights with real stakes start happening we already know how strong most of our cast is both morally and in terms of their combat abilities because of Mineta. By the end of season 3 that purpose has been served and it is no longer valid.
I've been watching this anime for probably the 4th time now and I forgot about Asui. Oh, the dam has let go. The water has flooded out. We have a flood. For some reason, I am emotionally more involved and I care more when I watch an anime for the next time. Or maybe it's just that the older I get the more emotional I get. ---------------------- Supposedly, such things are the domain of women. Nonsense. It's a matter of inherited traits. I inherited a lot of traits from my mother and grandmother. And that's why I don't behave like a typical, stereotypical guy. And that's a good thing. Long live emotion and diversity. Where are my handkerchiefs?!
"Who even relates to this character" Me 😁✋️ When I was a teen, I liked girls from a young age. The difference is that I was more shy, so no one knew about my perverted nature til much later. I am also amused by the japanese trope of "perveted character".
That whole moment with Tsu crying actually makes me angry whenever I see it… Because I know it’s supposed to be portrayed as her being sad and feeling like they ignored her… But the way it’s shown makes it feel like she’s sad that they didn’t do what she said, and it’s like “I’m so used to being listened to that the one time I’m not it hurts my ego”…. So even though it’s not SUPPOSED to be interpreted like that it’s the only thing I ever see
Really? It didn't really feel like either of those to me, it's always felt more like she felt bad about what she said to them and was worried they thought she hated them now or that they hated her. In the hospital she literally said something along the lines of "If you do this then you'll be no different than villains" and that's a pretty harsh thing to say to your hero-aspiring friends, even if she was correct from a legal standpoint. It was probably weighing on her mind anyways, but then she heard that they went so she probably felt even worse. She just didn't want them to resent her for saying what she said basically
16:35 i'd normally defend mineta by saying he's a teenager with raging hormones, some teens hormones are stronger than others its not their fault..... but this lil nigga just has no moral compass😭 i cant back him up
Foolishness Alicia, FOOLISHNESS, you can't watch this show and not tear up if you are as you put it and I quote it "A hormonal bitch" I usually don't get emotionaland I get feels with this show. They are all (at least for the most part kids that are making a new family out of this group, they always will get emotional)
Mineta isn't necessarily meant to be funny. He's meant to be hated. But his character IS at least realistic. He's a horomonal teenager who refuses to learn boundaries. He goes way too far way too often, but i think we all knew a guy who did in high school.
He's definitely meant to be funny. The author is clearly very fond of his character. He guys more screentime then tail dude. But he's just an anime character, you're allowed to enjoy him. It's not that serious
Hey, i hope its not rude to ask, since you are already doing a lot of anime at the moment, but do you plan on reacting to the MHA Movies? They aren't all that canonically important, but some of the fights are so budget breakingly beautiful, that they may as well be a must watch. But i totally get it if thats too much lol.
@@chocolateworshiper6765 yeah that's why I said "arent excactly" they could have feasibly happened but none of what happens in them is ever really referenced later (apart from the mid gauntlet) and the characters don't really change so its effectively the same.
21:54 are you really asking why a show that's aimed at teenage boys going through puberty would have a character that acts like them? Mineta is the character that most represents the larger viewing audience, the sheer amount of offbrand speeks volumes, especially when over 95% is just of the girls.
@skeletonnick1656 ah so your new to anime, this is a character type known as the perv, they aren't funny, and are not written as such, they are usually portrayed as a males desire, the only good thing I can call minetta is he hasn't SA a female character yet, the perv character type usually does just that, grab a handful, get slapped/pushed and then gets a bloodied nose and says "worth it" also I did not say "Teenage boys are meant to creep on girls" what I stated was basic biology, males are attracted to the opposite sex, the perv character type is an over stated representation of that, (like most character types - a student council president isn't going around hitting students not listening to them like Iida does) teenage boys like girls and love the very well off proportionate drawings of female characters and mineta is living out their dreams of lusting after hot women, and as it's a character type, he doesn't get arrested and disowned by his family like what would happen if a real teenager tried to do so. "Allowed to be horny and not be a creep" that doesn't fall into the character type and actually comes across as you trying to impose your character views from western comics onto Japanese comics. Western comics use to have a similar pervy character type, but unlike the Japanese that would beat the perv up and call them names - while displaying the female hotness - in western comics the anti hero would shoot or stab them while calling them a creep, nowadays even violence is being censored in western comics so their is no way such a character type would ever make a comeback. And as usual the perv character is male, however in recent years perv female characters are appearing more and more and are being punched aswell and the internet usually cheer it as gender equality, much to the dismay of twitter.
Who is Mineta for? Really? You're asking that about a character in a shounen manga/anime series? For boys clearly. Whether it's his natural or planned intention to act pervy, he's practically every teenage dude with raging hormones. I find him funny because he's very direct about his feelings to the point that he rightfully either gets punished for his bluntness or blocked from succeeding everytime. I'd much rather have Mineta instead of somebody equally as pervy as him but is silent about it (it's easier to trust the danger in front of you compared to the danger you can't see). Now that's actually creepy. Also, I do enjoy seeing folks who hate him in disbelief when Mineta does something truly useful because whenever he is useful, it can't be ignored or glossed over.
i think the worst thing about mineta is that he actually brings down my opinion of the entire class and school by him not getting either expelled or set straight by the other students. like they're supposed to be heroes, i can understand him being like that for maybe a month at max but if nobody told him to cut that shit out or they'll be beating his ass they haven't done enough as heroes to stop him.

there's a running theory that Shoji is a Buddhist, his minimalist lifestyle runs with the theory, some Buddhism follows with you only need things that truly serve a purpose, his bed (for sleeping) and his desk (for his schoolwork) everything else is just excessive and not actually necessary for living, he gets his food from the dorms common area or the school canteen, if he has need of entertainment its likely exercise, meditation or the schools library or dorm common room
Episode: *emotional reminder* fun times..fun times..fun...*EMOTIONAL GUT PUNCH*. I do like this episode a lot, you see everyone's personalities from it and it's well done.
Mineta is like the outward manifestation of the part of himself that everyone teenage boy tries to either keep hidden or suppress
I love everyone's dorms! :D
I also love the fact that EVERYONE just IGNORED Minato and walked past XD Honestly, I don't blame them. I don't even want to KNOW what horrors that perv has in his room
20:55 Yep , "Deep Dope" she has multiple shirts/hoodies with that on it, its hilarious
Even if Mineta himself don't make us laugh or smile, at least you reacting to him, made it 😆
I don't know if this was ever confirmed but I remember reading that the reason Mineta exists is because the author of My Hero likes that type of humor.
Koda (Anivoice) is such a shy bean i am happy he made it into UA! Plus his bunny is so cute!
I always cry at the froppy being sad scene. No matter how mamy times ive seen it
It doesn't matter who you are. If you can make food its a cheat code😂
Alicia: Dorms time!
Me who's fighting demons to get into college: I fucking hope so
I think Mineta is a character that people love to hate, and make people forgive the other character's flaws
This is one of my favorite Season 3 episodes of MHA. The episode really had me
It's so funny how they were showing all the students on their way to school, and Iida's already in the classroom sitting lmao 🤣🤣🤣
Every school has that one pervert and in here we have Mineta gotta accept that I guess
7:30 he found out the cost from Denki
11:37 i love when he says it like this
13:30 hehe aw
I never looked closely
Petting Koda's bunny while wearing Tenya's glasses hehe
It's just a culture difference. Remember: you are watching japanese shows, these Mineta scenes are funny in Japan and the same happens with a lot of animes (Hisoka from Hunter x Hunter is another example, japanese women love that creep lol).
26:50 amidst an emotional moment Iida never ceases to make me (and JP/honorific understanders) laugh with his "Tsuyu-chan-kun!"
-san -sama -chan -kun ; common honorifics.
Yeah Mineta is the punching bag. Just dump all the cliché bad traits of "teen boy life" on him and call it a day.
20:22 "Food is the way to the heart": after all, Cooking is already an act of love in itself
NGL, the running joke of Ojiro being mid af hurts me XD
Especially because he isn't. Guy literally soloed a bunch of villains at USJ.
On the subject of Froppy, I wonder what your reaction to her best friend from Middle School and the story of how they became friends will be. I believe there's an episode or special with them doing a joint training excersise with that school.
I can’t wait for her to find out who the leak is. She will never guess it in 1 million years. I don’t think there was a single person in the entire MHA community who suspected who it ended up being😂
There were actually a lot who suspected it but then they got convinced otherwise
About Aoyama, I like to think the mirrors on the bed are there so he can shoot his laser from any angle and melt away the alarm clock
Man you're really good at predicting what's gonna happen with this show, it's actually pretty incredible to witness.
Alicia's feelings towards 99% of Class A = "MY BABIES!
Alicia's feelings towards Minetta = WHO EVEN LIKES YOU?!
Oh, there's actually a movie that takes place inbetween season 2 and season 3.
The "could you take out the trash in the freezing cold?" got me so good. XD My spicy hot cheetos in my throat-ass right now-
Mineta is my spirit Animal.
Mineta is pretty much that one guy that you love to hate in every anime
Im having a problem. Im starting to enjoy Mineta, because of your reaction to him. So when whenever he starts doing/saying anything im finding it funny, because of how much you hate him.
I wonder if Alicia realizes how some of the stuff she says would come across if she was a short, pasty Mineta. ;) No one thinks Mineta behaves well, but he is to horn dogs as Bakugo is to hot heads. If you really don't see _anything_ about yourself reflected in him, you're a saint or you're lying to yourself. XD
Still mad to this day we never saw mineta room I wanna know whats in there
what you said about food is 100% true, good food is the basis for a great relationship.
When I binged the show myself, I had a dream of an episode where the entire class just beat up mineta, it was awesome
Jiro-san's room is, like if , Spider Punk, and characters, from _TEEN TITANS!(2003),_ started a band together.
Yooo fuckin horokoshi did it again, yo why does Kaminari have tissues on other side of the table by the bed ………….. yeah you know what he be using them for 13:40 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣💀💀💀💀💀💀💀
Yeah sometimes the "joke" about the joke character is the fact that their universally hated
the issue of a spy at UA was not delt with in the manga until after season 5 was finished.
No voice actor or animator knew if there was a traitor or who it was in an episode you will see for a long time.
Kirishima is rich. he would need a huge allowance to save up that much at 15. In the manga during a dark point, he destroys the punching bag in his room and casually orders another online.
The way to a person's heart is throught their stomach.
Mineta is just the face of the people that complain about him without being relevant enough for half the class being alive.
Mineta is just an in for the writers and artists to give fan service while also pretending they’re condemning it by making him the butt of the jokes
Alicia thinking Mneta is weird while i m a girl and was rooting for him so hard in this episode
Mineta is 90% of the complaints i have about this show lmao
21:40 pov sanji post timeskip lol
love getting to see all the rooms
----------------------
Supposedly, such things are the domain of women. Nonsense. It's a matter of inherited traits. I inherited a lot of traits from my mother and grandmother. And that's why I don't behave like a typical, stereotypical guy. And that's a good thing. Long live emotion and diversity. Where are my handkerchiefs?!
Kaminari always making Jiro laugh
Question for comment section: "How would _you_ design, _your_ room?"
The songs were right. It really is all about that cake.
"Who even relates to this character"
Me 😁✋️
When I was a teen, I liked girls from a young age. The difference is that I was more shy, so no one knew about my perverted nature til much later.
I am also amused by the japanese trope of "perveted character".
I think Kaminari's room is a mess because he's like a magnet just pulling everything to him... cuz electricity
If My Hero was fantasy anime, then the sword belonged to Izuku
The chat begging for help at the beginning of the video made me laugh
She just didn't want them to resent her for saying what she said basically
world trigger is an interesting anime whether this comment goes unnoticed or not is fine by me
he's out of line, but he has a point
16:35 i'd normally defend mineta by saying he's a teenager with raging hormones, some teens hormones are stronger than others its not their fault..... but this lil nigga just has no moral compass😭 i cant back him up
Foolishness Alicia, FOOLISHNESS, you can't watch this show and not tear up if you are as you put it and I quote it "A hormonal bitch" I usually don't get emotionaland I get feels with this show. They are all (at least for the most part kids that are making a new family out of this group, they always will get emotional)
As someone who watches highschool dxd kanokon sekirei and sora no otoshimono at least once a year, i find mineta hilarious.
Bout to hit them with the hottest take: I like Mineta
Mineta isn't necessarily meant to be funny. He's meant to be hated. But his character IS at least realistic. He's a horomonal teenager who refuses to learn boundaries. He goes way too far way too often, but i think we all knew a guy who did in high school.
He's definitely meant to be funny. The author is clearly very fond of his character. He guys more screentime then tail dude. But he's just an anime character, you're allowed to enjoy him. It's not that serious
How insidious that laugh sounds. 20:01
Didn't it just get announced recently that the movies were canon?
They are not relevant to the main plot at all, but they are very much canon
@@chocolateworshiper6765 yeah that's why I said "arent excactly" they could have feasibly happened but none of what happens in them is ever really referenced later (apart from the mid gauntlet) and the characters don't really change so its effectively the same.
@@BeanMann Nine is shown for exactly one panel in the manga
Y'all are focusing on the anime I'm focusing on the chat
Also, I do enjoy seeing folks who hate him in disbelief when Mineta does something truly useful because whenever he is useful, it can't be ignored or glossed over.
making fun of hats now huh? making fun of me as a teenager is thats whats going on now
i think the worst thing about mineta is that he actually brings down my opinion of the entire class and school by him not getting either expelled or set straight by the other students. like they're supposed to be heroes, i can understand him being like that for maybe a month at max but if nobody told him to cut that shit out or they'll be beating his ass they haven't done enough as heroes to stop him.
