That was Joshua Ragland's golden rule for survival in the After Days. In his previous life he had studied law, and figured that back then, people probably said the same thing about lawyers. That was before America fell. Before a deadly biological strike and subsequent land invasion brought the superpower to her knees.
Unlike the rest of the adult population, he survived the virus and by some miracle lived to see the invaders pushed west. Unfortunately they left the eastern seaboard of America a shell of its former self, its cities and suburbs abandoned to the forsaken children and teenagers that survived or avoided their "work" camps.
Now, ten years on, he is a hardened survivor. A drifter who wanders the ruins of America, keeping to himself and only tolerating human contact when he has to. Unfortunately, he's about to break his own golden rule...

This is still a great reader. Compared to what I find elsewhere on youtube this guy reads really well.

ditto, i downloaded all my audible books i bought and put membership on hold. You have to use a computer to do it.. only bad thing with TH-cam audiobook books is the speed change options.. 25% is. a bit mmmuuuccchhh!🐌🐌🐌🐌

I can’t stop listening to the America Falls. They are great! Helps me focus while I’m working. The stories are just so well written and exciting! Sadly, this new reader is lacking for me. I really miss Adam and his flow and nuances. The new guy is too fast and kind of robotic.
I just left a very similar comment! The narrator is 50% of what makes a great audio book. I'm glad I'm not the only one with this opinion.

My thoughts exactly. I was feeling like I was speed reading cramming for a pop quiz when listening. The story is as usual exceptional and a testament to Scott’s writing abilities. Sadly I do miss the narration of Adam, who brings the stories to life for me. The new narrator is just to sterile.
I have loved the stories and the narration. Sadly, I cannot listen to the new reader. Is he AI? I will miss the continuing adventures of the series.

Also Adam narrates Slightly more slowly which is better for me but hey.

This man is not as good as Adam Barr. Plus the audio sounds tinny. I have loved Scott's writing but I am not sure I want to listen to this audio.
I have loved the whole series and rabid states, but cannot take to this new guys reading it was to fast and the silly voices that he does every now and then, I have been unable to finish this story. Shame

I absolutely love this entire series but I struggled getting into this one as I much prefer the original narrator. I'm used to his voice(s)! No disrespect to this narrator, doing a job i certainly couldn't do, I just find him a bit too fast and a little mechanical at times.
The reference to "Into the Wild" was awesome.
No offense to this guy but really missing the old narrator 😢

Awesome brotha!! I really love America falls books with Issac, Luke, Indigo etc. Are you planning any further books, for instance, Max, Erin so forth? I belive Max was eight at the end. That series is my favorite, I listened to it 3 times within a year!! Thank you so much, you are a genius.
Scott, I have loved this series. Couldn't get enough of it. Never wanted it to end. Sadly, I can't listen to this automaton narration. There is no feeling whatsoever in this guy's rapid, emotionless delivery. Is it a narration robot? Adam Barr was so much better. Emotion, dialect, accents, even the differentiation between kids/teens and adult voices was masterfully done.
Still, I thank you for putting all of your hard work out there for free on TH-cam. I am a writer. It is a labor of love, but I know how much work it is and can just imagine the time and effort you have put into this series. You have become and will always be one of my favorite authors.
Hi James. No Mike is a real narrator. You'll be pleased to know I've had Adam redo it. Its available in stores like Audible but is a little while away before its up on TH-cam.
Thanks for getting back to me and for the good news. I'm sure the loss of one listener wouldn't devastate you but, just so you know, it turns out I can't give it up after all. I am too immersed in this story. I have started listening to it again.

A little gutted that the narrator is
not the same as the previous books, using a computer generated voice made is less gripping.

Yes, in South East Asia they 🐿 are a delicacy.
As an Alabamanian I can attest that yes you can eat squirrels, roasted over a fire they might be a bit chewy since they have very little fat, unless you can wrap them in bacon and then oven bake them they are best in stews or fried, I can't think of any mammal you can't eat if you're motivated enough and you cook it thoroughly, but could be wrong.
Love these audiobooks but the audio on this one halted me for a couple weeks! I've just circled back, finished listening to "I Am A Pilgrim"!

Please, please reupload the first 3 parts in a better audio quality. It's a disgrace to listen to such a great story in such a low quality audio version.

I’m loving this series. I’ve binged this whole America Falls series! Right up to here, The Drifter. I’m going to hold out for Adams version. This alternate narrator isn’t working. Sounds like a bad AI program.
This doesn't sound anything like AI to me. AI doesn't parse sentences correctly, always gets the rhythm wrong. If this is AI it's the best I ever heard.
Where is Barr? This robot voice really kills the mood

OK. Loved the series. Only one gripe. The change up in narroraters. He reads to fast and not much on inflection of tone. Found myself having to rewind and re-listen as I would zone him out. All in all Drifter is my favorite story so far. I kind of picture myself in Joshua's shoes.

I love that you're going through the years, aging the characters. Everyone else concentrates on a short time period, but you have/are creating an entire world.

I am SO bummed. I can’t finish this series within American Falls. The narration is SO bad. The reader doesn’t bother to recognize punctuation or inflection. It’s so robotic.

Love the book series but the reader on this one isnt that good, no inflection or emotion. Everyone else voicing these books were story tellers, this guy is just a reader.

Hi William. Its not AI, but I'm having The Drifter redone by Adam.
This narrator had some kind of echo in his microphone, but oh-my-goodness it's so much better than AI. This narrator does have inflection and understands the full sentence well enough to get the pacing and rhythm. Without that little echo sound I think people would stop thinking AI.

Absolutely love the America falls series! The narrators of most of them are also fantastic.
This narrator sounds more like an A.I. which is unfortunate as the reading of this one sounds pretty emotionless and just constant words which is not good and is spoiling it for me. I hope it gets better later but not sure if I'll be listening to all of it if it is the same all the way through.
I'll be saving up for the physical copies of the whole series and may go for the drifter series first.
Sincerely grateful for all the work that has gone into these stories and the reading of them.
I hope you make as much profit as possible from all of your hard work and carry on with the series.

Want to know why thiss it so hard to follow? The way it it TEASED OUT to the public!! An episode every once in awhile! Trickle out effect! Hell by the time the next episode comes out I've already forget the story line and characters!!!
