- How do you read a chest x-ray? Do you have a system for interpreting chest x-rays?
If you're a medical student, a resident, a surgeon or physician of almost any type you're going to be looking at chest xrays and you don't always want to wait for the final read to come up!
Have a system for reading them!
Today I'm going to show you how I do it and it's as simple as the ABCs.
Airway
Bones
Cardiac
Diaphragm,
Extra
Fields
Gastric bubble
That's how I flow though the chest x-ray and in this video I'm going to show you a few examples of how I do it.
And I do it the same way every time, that's a system.

Do you have a system for reading chest X-rays?
You do this so well.
I read Physiology at University, but you mopped this up in ten minutes.
Haha, now you can do it too :). Have a great day and thanks so much for your support!
Good job dr
I appreciate your efforts
Thanks a lot ❤❤❤
Absolutely, thanks for your support, I'm happy you enjoyed it! Now you have a system!
Hi! This video is awesome :) great content.
Would love more content similar to this video on how to read imaging relevant to a surgeon (abdominal xrays, abd CT scans for example) and your reading pattern if you got a chance to make them!
Will do both of those, thanks Greg. Treatment of colorectal cancer out tomorrow
Awed once again at the massive amount of knowledge you have to have to do your job! I had no idea that you would need to read your own X-rays. Somehow I thought a radiologist would do that and send you a report!
They do! But I always look at the imaging and it’s important to know what to look for! I certainly depend on my radiology colleagues but it’s important to at least have a system to look at anything :). Thanks Nora!
@@citizensurgeonI like that! Having as much information as possible and doing it the same way every time so you can give your patient the best care possible!
Thank you for this!! Made so easy! ❤
Awesome thanks Karla!!
Hey! Gen surg resident here. Would you be able to make a video on how to read CTs?
Yes, great idea, coming up!
