The original MXR Carbon Copy and Carbon Copy Bright are amongst our favourite analog delay pedals, an the new Deluxe model takes their classic, warm sound and adds a whole host of new features.
As you'd expect, there's standard controls for wet/dry mix, delay repeats (region) and delay time (the maximum has now been increased from 600ms to 1.2s)...but there's now also speed and width controls for the chorus/modulation effect, a tap tempo and a cool new "tap divide" feature. This allows you to split the beats of the tempo to with dotted 8ths/quavers, 8ths, triplets or 16ths/semi-quavers, allowing for some really interesting rhythmic patterns.
A small internal switch allows the user to run the pedal in "wet" output only mode, perfect for using with FX loops, and there's also a new external foot switch input. When connected an external foot switch or expression pedal (sold separately) can be used to toggle features, control parameters of switch between saved tones.
So, as you can see, the Carbon Copy DLX takes an already fantastic analog echo pedal and turns it into something truly powerful. Take a quick look and listen with PMTVUK and check one out at your local Professional Music Technology...

Most people don’t know that you can set two presets as well as being an to switch on and off modulation with a tap switch

The pedal option would be better if we could also save different settings for Mix and Regen. Those two settings are the ones I want to control the most. That is the only thing that has me still considering other pedals. I probably would be better off with just two or three of the smaller Carbon Copy pedals set the way I like, or find a replacement that lets me store a few presets that recall ALL the parameters. Otherwise, the pedal sounds awesome.
