based on grammar, indonesian is easy because there are just few conjugations and particles. but, i think most of the learners will find the difficulties in listening, especially in real life. most of the indonesian native speakers don’t use these words. they usually distinguish the words between formal words and daily words, and i think that might be difficult to understand indonesian daily conversation in real life. you can speak easily, but you might be don’t understand when you hear fellow indonesian speak to each other😮
I'm very new to my Indonesian learning, and ultimately my goal is to learn the informal language. I'm listening to these conversations because there are only so many resources where I can hear it continuously spoken. I'm listening to absorb the feel of the sounds and such. I'm in heaven listening to this, mmkay.... 😍
Most of these phrases are formal phrases, its fine but most of Indonesian dont do formal conversation even at work. Unless they speak with their big boss. Or less formal in class
The word order is what gets me. From the video at 17:07 "di meja yang mana dia pernah makan siang dulu?" translated word for word is " in table which where he once eat afternoon before?" I might say "Apa meja dia dulu makanan . " My english brain wants "at which table? " not " at table which" I have to think like Yoda, I guess. Any mind tricks to come to terms with Indonesian word order?
Its one tough language, i keep trying to get the order with slow improvements. Normally its the using different words together that changes the meaning is a common swerve ball.
It's actually normal for people who are learning a new language, I think if you want to enhance your ability in listening skill, you should find a partner who can speak Indonesian well.. like me for example, 😁
I am the same, I think we just need to learn more words and phrases and just practice every day, coz my brain cant keep up either. They speak very fast too normally

I wish there was a course teaching the informal language, because learning the formal language is a bit pointless for most people
They do teach some informal phrases like how to say nggak or enggak instead of tidak
Formal and informal? Use language how you would like.
But it's okay to use formal indonesian when it comes to foreigners? Because I'm foreigner / tourist then it won't be any problem for me by using it ?
Terima kasih banyak!!

i mean as indonesia person since i was born, it's a unformal language and i never use that sentence. it feels unreal for me.
in indonesia we say "yang mana meja dia pernah makan siang dulu?" is fine

It takes time to improve language comprehension. The first step is to be able to read fast, after that your comprehension will improve.

Native speakers speak 1.25x - 1.5x
It is not true. This is the real speed. Native Indonesians, however, do not speak in this manner. This is a very polite and formal speaking style.
I am Malaysian and I can understand 100% this video XD
do you speak the same way in Malaysia?
Cara bicaranya sama?
