- Cruising on the Carnival Luminosa was great! But, visiting our first port
Lifou Island, part of the Loyalty Islands of New Caledonia was amazing! This wasn't our first visit to this island but it was just as beautiful as ever.
Make sure you take your snorkel gear. If you're lucky, you'll get to see one of the sea turtles that frequent the area. When we walked off the pier, we turned right and followed the path as far as we could go. We think it is the best beach within walking distance.
After a refreshing swim and a chat with the locals we headed back towards the pier and headed up to the main market area where there are local tours, demonstrations, places to eat and have a drink or two.

I-O 😂 It was!
Beautiful
It is! 😀
it looks like you don't need to go on the tour excursion here. just enjoy the beautiful beach where you dock ❤
True! We love snorkling along the beach and heading back towards the markets before we leave the island. We take our own snorkel gear too!
@@alandeb Its nice you can enjoy without taking the tour! Do you exchange the money to spend some while you were there?
@@grace7059 most of the islands take Aussie dollars. If they don’t, we use our card. I hardly ever exchange cash anymore. If you don’t have smaller notes, you will normally be given change in local currency.
@@alandeb Thank You 😍 We are going next March, so very helpful info💕💕💕
Doesnt look like it has changed since i was there years ago…the people are so friendly and the scenery is still beautiful.
Exactly! 😀
Great vlog! Can you just walk up tp where they were doing the welcome dance and making hats for sale, or do you have to pay for that experience? I see kayak rentals along the beach. Do you know how much they cost? I see you turned right and walked to a beach further from the tender docks. Did you see any turtles? Did you buy the coconut drink? So many questions! LOL
Thanks Pam. Yes, you can just walk up the hill and see the singing and talks about their culture. I’m not sure how much it was to rent a kayak but I don’t think it would be much. I’m sure it would be cheaper than booking on the ship. Yes, we turned right and walked as far as we could along the beach. We didn’t see a sea turtle this time, but others who took their snorkeling gear did. Last time we watched them swimming beside the pier. I think too many people were jumping off the pier this time and they stayed a bit further out. I think the coconut drink was $5! I’m sure you’ll 💗 Lifou. It’s a beautiful little island paradise. 🌴 Thanks for watching 🥰
Hi thanks for sharing :-) Can you tell me if they take Au$ in Lifou?
Yes they do. :)
Was this an organised beach tour or did you do your own thing on the island please?
Hey Angie, We just walked to the end of the pier turned right and walked along the beach track to the last beach. We usually always do our own thing at the islands. 🏖️
