Park hee soon did perfect justice to the character Mu jin. A villain you just can't seem to hate but love. Mu jin loved Ji woo and trusted her with everything. He made her a monster and in his twisted ways he saw her as his dearest possession which he desperately clung to. That's why he felt betrayed when she went to Pildo and he knew that to end it all he needed to die at her hands. That was the only way he could atone because he had deceived her all along. He demanded utmost loyalty from everyone and yet he deceived Ji woo who trusted him blindly.

I'm not shipping them romantically but it's more like father-daughter, trainor-pupil chemistry. Choi Mujin never had anyone besides him that he can trust and say "it hurts" except Jiwoo's father, as he describes the level of trust with this phrase. So he kinda wanted her to be on his side and he said several times that he trusted Jiwoo and also have said his wound "hurts" while temple scene. He got angry just because of her (of course he valued her) and gained an enemy like Do Jangjae. So she was his weak spot. He raised/trained her to be a killer with his own hands.
I felt really bad when the relationship between these two started to crack, because I wanted to see some wholesome scene between them such as drinking soju together happily like a family, Mujin getting retired and moving somewhere nice and close to beach with Jiwoo. Despite being suspicious about him since his first scene in funeral until the truth got revealed, I still wished them to be happy together.

Choi Mujin is so hot 🔥🔥🔥 literally every scene in the movie with him was awesome. I also shipped him with Jiwoo since episode 1. But it’s an asian drama, so because of the age gap we don’t get that romance between them on screen. However i felt that their chemistry was strong and loved every scene ❤️

My guess is that, jiwoo needed someone to rely on and coincidentally Pildo was available, as the drama progressed it was clear that she didn't feel a connection with him until they took the night in the beach house (if you know you know) the only reason she grieved pildo death is because he was the only person who trust her and when she spoke he listened. I thought that at first they would progress a connection but it's obvious that they are just both very different and they both needed to be listened to (she listened to him about his sister, he listened to her about her father), their situations where similar, but I think in the beginning he thought of jiwoo as his sister, ans she though of pildo as a friend because of how they both were so similar. But Mujin is different, as the drama progressed it was clear they both felt a connection of longing mujin was able to take her life many times but he never once took a chance to kill her and he risked his identity to save her, the best example would be when she almost got crushed in the car crusher, he was injured badly himself but he knew he would risk his life if he showed up with the police close and he still managed to help her out alive. I also think in the very beginning where he gave her the knife and told her to stab him to imagine he is her father's killer (before she knew the truth) he knew she would eventually find out but that was the moment he created that connection, he made sure she was the best fighter so when the time comes she won't hesitate to kill anyone especially him. Mujin is the best fighter he fought 4 men with knives while he didn't have a weapon and he was able to get out alive, I'm sure he would've been able to kill her in an instant but he loved her and he didn't want to kill her, he wanted to make sure she would take his life. If jiwoo really didn't feel anything she wouldn't have hesitated to shoot mujin in an instant, but she felt hatred, betrayal of how the one person she loved and trusted betrayed and lied to her. I don't think they love each other physically/intimate but the platonic /emotional connection.

My take on their (hypothetical) romance: I believe Mujin and Jiwoo were always meant to be shipped, that the director made it that way on purpose. Both are lone wolves, without a real life partner (there isn’t enough evidence to suggest Jiwoo was in love with Pildo, just attracted to him), and they have obvious weak spots only for each other. I believe that while Mujin killed Pildo to ignite that revenge in Jiwoo, he also did it due to his jealousy - of the fact that Jiwoo was clearly attracted to Pildo. Jiwoo, on the other hand, depends on him mainly like a father figure (especially as she believes that they were best friends til the end), but is clearly attracted, albeit subconsciously, to Mujin, as she risks everything else in her life repeatedly to save him. I think most clearly, they are both characters noticeably devoid of emotion or empathy in the series, but for only each other they make an exception - they care so much - too much. mujinxjiwoo all the way 🥺

I didn't think they had this chemistry in mind when they were reading/writing the script but the actors were just too good lol they gave life to the writing in a slightly different way that some people see it differently. However i still thought them in a guardian relationship. I can understand how it can be seen romantically on screen but it defenatly wouldn't be morally right for the story to end like that....given she would be dating her father's killer and second that huge age gap.

I have watched this drama twice and on 2nd watch I am sorry to say there is nothing father daughter there. if not romantic but he trusted her so asked taeju if he can be trusted instead cause jiwoo has done everything and beyond for mujin but taeju has probably wavered in his loyalty. he trusted nd depended on her on a very deep level but knew the end has to come.
