Forward facing sonar allows people like Ben Millikan and Jacob Wheeler to be pro fish. I don’t think they could be pro fisherman without them. Could you imagine if they had to fish a tournament without sonar? That is a strong viewpoint. Forward-facing sonar certainly lets people see fish activity in ways never before possible. Being able to see the fish and how they react to your lure certainly takes a lot of mystery out of fishing when you wouldn't otherwise be able to see the fish without FFS.
I use livescope and I fish old school. It is much more rewarding to catch a fish old school than it is to catch them with forward facing sonar. In my opinion Forward Facing Sonar will hurt the fishing industry far more than it will help. It takes all the mystery out of fishing. I don't need to hire a guide or watch Bassmasters to learn how to catch fish anymore. When an idiot like me can go out and catch 20 bass a day on a pressured lake, the mystery is over.
Certainly helps eliminate unproductive water that you might otherwise think holds fish. Also helps decide if a fish will bite based on how they react to your presentations. These things were mostly guesswork just 10 years ago, so it's been a big shift for sure.

The old schhol methods still work, but technology now lets you pinpoint them. When fishing for $$$ you are not going to fish the techniques that are more fun.
