- People have asked many times why I selected Pulmonary Medicine. These are my reasons. I love the variety of my week and the diversity of my day. Watch to find out more.
West Coast Lung - Rutland Medical Group
Pulmonologist in Newport Beach, California
Located in: Newport Superior Medical Plaza
Address: 1501 Superior Ave #202, Newport Beach, CA 92663
Phone: (949) 333-0464
Appointments: westcoastlung.com
Top 3 reasons:
1. Imaging (e.g. chest x-rays).
2. Intervention. Procedures (e.g. bronchoscopy, intubation).
3. First aid
. The ability to handle any medical crisis (e.g. someone with a heart attack on a plane).
Given these 3 reasons, I think Dr. Rutland could have been happy in emergency medicine or anesthesiology too.
One reason is enough to fuel ur passion and hook u into the field.
I like it also for doing outpatient evaluation, in addition to all of these procedures.
i cant agree more with you, been a pulmonologist is dopeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
Thanks for share a little about yourself Doc. I enjoy watching your videos.👍🏾👍🏾
Thank you for you videos Dr. You inspire me to be a better student 🙏🏾
Having some thoughts about stepping in to the medical field as a pulmonologist, I’m 14 so I have a fear years left to decide, I love how interesting it is
Love the Videos. Keep doin you. Just a little information goes a long way. Stay safe out there.
Love this. Now I wanna do pulm and critical care
Come on.
THX U, Doc. 🙏
On some days I choose specialty. I am considering Otorhino, ophthalmo and Pulmologist
Thank you!
Hope you are well.
Exactly❤
so helpful! thank you :)
Awsome
I like it cuz in body systems my fav was respiratory systems so for now I'm with pulmonary but my mom doesn't like it she wants me to be a cardiac doctor but to me the heart is too complicated
You’re def gifted in my opinion. And it’s even more uplifting seeing my brothers working in that capacity. I first learned about you in the “Touch” challenge...👀!!! On these videos, you appear as this “nerdy “ doc. But In my opinion, you need to keep those glasses and the professional and quirky tone to camouflage that “beast” that might be intimidating and distracting to some.
What kind of doctor should I go to ... To check out a right abhorrent artery? I was told to see a pulmonologist but not clear as to why?
Hey Dr. Rutland can you do a video on Interventional pulmonology??
🐐🐐
Can you do a video in why DRY HERB vaping (not vaping from a pen with oils that’s very different) is not harmful to the lungs? Since it doesn’t combust the dry herb and it just makes steam from it, thanks!
I am here because an personality/career test.
How is the schedule? The working hours
I’m currently working as a respiratory therapist, never thought about becoming a pulmonologist until now. How vigorous is the program?!
Well. It’s medical school, 4 years. Residency, 3 years. Then fellowship, 3 years. It’s a little long but definitely doable
Am doing Msc Kinesiology and researching in Cardiopulmonary want to ask if after, can I go into pulmonary? How?
Thank you very much Doctor for such sharing this video , for inspiring us. i just want to ask , is pulmonary critical care a subspec of internal pr anesthesiology? thanks.
Internal medicine
what board certifications are required to get ccm vs pccm?
How much money do you make? Sir, i have heard that pulmonary physician earn very less. I am so disheartened sir. Please guide sir 🙏
In the us you’d get about 250k starting for pulmonary but in residency and fellowship about 60k and 75k

Is it just me or is it difficult to take this guy seriously with the dog barking at the background, the r&B music soundtrack and the hat on backwards?
Pay attention to what he is saying. Learn to discern
No, it isn’t. Makes him more interesting if anything. I mean there are reasons why you think people shouldn’t take him seriously but I’m sure you already know what those are.
