Thanks for making this video. Yes, the 10mm is making quite the comeback and for good reason. Out here in Colorado the backcountry carry is changing from 44mag to the 10mm largely due to the greater round capacity. Those who like the Glock 20 do carry them. But, there are others, including myself who are not particularly fond of Glocks so the added platforms are much appreciated. For me, the Glocks just don't feel good in the hand and I don't like the grip angle. But, that's me and I know many who prefer them.
I have a 4.5" XDM-10. LOVE IT! It'll probably replace my 6" 629 44 Mag as my backup gun while hunting because it's so much lighter and holds so much more ammo. You can't beat 15+1 rounds of hot 10mm.
I just got a glock 20 as my grizzly gun. Not only does it have more ammo, but it also has a faster fire rate. Even though it's not 1100 ftlbs of energy like a 44 mag I would prefer 6-7 rounds going down range over 2 maybe 3 rounds of 44mag.
You guys should do the pawn shop challenge, each of you take $400 to a pawn shop and see who can get the best firearm and then compete in a shooting challenge with them!
Been *IN LOVE* with my 2-tone Colt Delta Elite race gun that I competed with in the 90s for years and years! The *initial* “problem” with the 10mm (which was initially developed for the FBI and the Secret Service) was that the round was too powerful for the 1911 frames when thousands of training rounds were put through them....causing the frames to flex and eventually crack beginning at the takedown pin/slide release hole above and forward of the trigger. This freaked out the FBI and Secret Service and they dropped the cartridge in favor of the 40S&W *BEFORE* the problem was easily remedied by simply removing the upper portion of metal from the hole (thus making it into a “U” shape) which allowed the frames to flex and no longer crack. Look at your 1911s with the takedown pin out and you’ll see the hole/opening I’m referring to. P.S. The lighter recoiling 40 was also generally more favorable to the many females joining the above mentioned forces....not to say they’re weaker then men....just “generally” smaller and more.....recoil sensitive..... *GENERALLY*

Yup, don’t care to much about politics, Springfield has tried to make up for their poor judgement and just about everything they produce is quality built I love my Hellcat OPS , the XD lineup is great and the Saint is the best entry level production AR platform out there IMHO
Agree. Plus when you look at the XDM-10 how it passed the 10,000 shots fired test with zero issues, you really have to take into account that it comes with everything you mentioned plus a 100% reliability. To me that’s the most important factor above all anyway. Plus everything else it comes with at that price point? I love my XDM!
As a fellow alaskan , my 10mm is the only thing that makes sense because wild life , and 44 and 357 is not fun to shoot in general also price per bullut is not good

I like Alaskans, I know it’s not typically the area for travelers for fun, but I definitely want to go to Alaska some time. One of the best gun laws (and that’s understandable, as taking guns away from Alaska is just leaving them for dead out there). I’ll say this: I don’t want to live there because it’s rough, but dangit I want to go.

Sounds great to me long barrel in 10mm would be sweet it being able to fold would make it a nice hiking or camping option then you can stuff in a pack until your in the field.
Isn't the Sub2k a straight blowback? To my knowledge, a 10mm carbine needs a delayed blowback in order to affectively use and not waste all that intense pressure. A straight blowback 10mm might require a very heavy bolt and recoil spring combo.
When I saw that Springfield had launched an XD(M) in 10mm I got really excited and sent my wife a screenshot from their website. She actually went and bought one for me. I still don't know how to handle that, but the gun is awesome. My first handgun was an XD(M) in 9mm so of course I had to go up by 1mm. I have a Sig Sauer P226 Legion in 40 that has an amazing trigger in it but I still prefer the Springfield's trigger.
i have an XDM in 10mm and it is an awesome gun. I have fired it dozens of times and not even a hint of a missfeed of any Type. It is also extremely accurate at 20 yards.

They can only be a minimum length of 24 inches and fire 22lr. You can apply for a section 7.3 handgun license but you need to leave that at the range, if you touch *your own gun* without permission the range had the right to call the police and it could be took from you, then you'll loose everything. The country's going downhill, see the police done their job in the 90s we wouldn't have this issue. It's disgusting, maybe in a few years I'll try move to the states, I was originally supposed to move to Colorado but I couldn't wait 5 years to get in, I had to move pronto with how Brexit was shaping out. The thing about XDs is that grip safety. I think it is a brilliant Ide to add a safety that automatically ND naturally is disengaged when you have a good grip on the gun.
You guys squibbed on this "top 5". How could you not mention the EAA WITNESS? That gun is a 10mm CZ clone and a best value which has been around for years.
At least the Tanfoglio/Witness has a fully supported chamber, and it's not advertised from the factory to not shoot full load 10mm (choug... choug... glock... choug...).
2 things: 1. the Ruger GP100 is available in 10mm for a much lighter and easy carry revolver. Also, the 10mm revolvers can be rechambered to shoot 10mm AMT Magnum, available from Doubletap ammo. 2. No one ever mentions Tanfoglio. Almost every one of their pistols from 3.4 inch barrel to 6 inch barrel both single and double action is made in 10mm. If you like a CZ 75 then you will like the Tanfoglios.
Is there a particular serial number or date of manufacture that I should avoid? I have a NIB I bought a few years ago and I'd like to know if it can be fired with full house loads without frame cracks.

@david USMC don't hunt down ammo for the 10 mm at stores. Use your "veteran" discount and shop online at the place that has the best 10mm ammo on the earth. Underwood and Fort Scott Munitions. One of the main issue's with the stuff you get instore also is the fact that the rounds are weakened down to the same ballistics as a 40 sw round. Why even own a 10 mm if you are just gonna shoot 40 SW performing ammo out of it?
The store i work at has sellier & bellot 10mm 180gr fmj for $18.99/box same for 45 acp same brand, actually not a bad price for either to be honest and this is in the occupied state in CA. Sadly one day i think we will have to get our own “CA citizen” passports because well be so distanced from the rest of the country that a US passport may become foreign to us here.
As someone who owned a S&W 610, one thing they didn't mention is that it uses fill moon clips which work better than speed loaders and quicker. It also uses the less expensive .40 round.
I like it. Got myself a Rock Island 6 inch double stack about 2 years ago. It is great. So glad to see the 10 gaining popularity. Now if only finding the brass to reload was easier.
Fell in love with CZ when looking for 9mm and bought "poor mans Sig" CZ 75 in stainless. So when looking for 10mm, not wanting Glock or spending $1K plus on Dan Wesson, I would go with Tanfoglio
Great video, but I couldn't disagree with you more about the Springfield XDM 10mm. I own one with a 4.5" barrel and it's my favorite pistol I've ever owned. And for $500 bucks you can't beat it imo.
The countless failures bad reviews and recalls say other wise there are more defected guns and risky guns from Springfield than good one and around the same price you can get a much better choice and isn’t prone too having issues like a Springfield

Yes you are correct in Alaska a lot of the guides have a Glock 20 10mm , a 12 gauge shotgun and or a 45-70 lol. I own all those my Glock 20 has the alpha wolf 6 inch barrel and I own the Glock 6 inch barrel. Marvelous
I picked myself up a glock 20 the other day. It's a gen 3sf and I absolutely love it. That being said I do like the springfeild xdm better when it comes to the grip and ergonomics. The reason why I went with the glock over the springfeild was bc I live in grizzly country and I will never have to worry about a glock not going off.
I like the 1911 platform with the 10 mm. It’s heavier and handles the recoil better, although, the Sig has a double/single action a safer hunting option.
The sprifield xd series is a love it or leave it type pistol. My xd9sc is a great gun and remarkably accurate for a 3" barrel. I shoot it fairly well. I enjoy my Springfield but I know not everyone does. I may pick up an xd 10mm when I get back in the market.

You missed on the Rock Island Armory 1911 10mm. It's a bargain at less than $500 generally and solid and very reliable. Over 1,000 rds of every description and not a single failure yet!!

Don’t know why they aren’t still made. 2) A 10mm Beretta M9A3 w/ Storm version carbine to match. A pig hunters dream. 3) A real 10mm AR glock mag fed. I know jr and aero make one but they are more pack guns. 4) Colt Python/Anaconda 5) Ruger 10/22 in 5.7x28. Solves the old 22wmr feeding problem. Wild card: 44 mag cattleman’s carbine
I've had many - here's how I rank the ones I've had: Witness Steel Hunter, Springfield XDM, Witness Polymer full-sized, S&W 610, Colt Delta Elite and in last place is of course the Glock (had both 29 and 20). However, I have not had the Rock Island, the S&W 3rd Gens, 1911s, or the Sig P220. My next one will be the Rock Island double stack 6" which I would anticipate will likely be my favorite. If CMMG makes a delayed blowback Banshee "pistol" in 10mm that takes XDM mags, I will be on it like stink on poop.
I'm "Not a Glock" guy. Mine and 3 others consistently had issues in the academy. Regret having to sell my XDM to buy a Glock Blue label. The Glock armorer was always busy fixing stuff. No wonder the instructors were shooting 1911 style race guns.

Just like your opinion, I've handled a few 10MM but have only shot 1 which was a long slide Rock Island Armory 10MM. It shot well at 75 yards with 3 inch groups off hand using 180gr standard velocity hollow points (from GA Arms) and open sights (adjustable rear)
I just got my G40 problem solver... That thing is a laser. I'm not a superb shot, but can place a 2.5 inch group of 20 rounds at 28 yards with the vanilla trigger (which is pretty awful) and vanilla plastic open sights. Love it.
The unsupported chamber on the Glock is actually an issue. Try resizing some fired brass if you reload; it won't fit into a case gauge. Requires an aftermarket barrel.
I can remember back when the 44 Auto Mag, the L.A.R. Grizzly, and the Wildley were the "hot" automatic "magnum" pistols on the market. Part of the reason the 10mm took a nap was the issue some manufacturers had with frames and other components not being up to the pressures. The issue with the FBI was they wanted a medium frame in a recoil level acceptable for small framed agents to use, but they also wanted the capacity level close to the 9mm, but a wound factor closer to the 45acp. So the S&W 40 came out. Think of it as the "special" version of the 10mm.
Owned and carried my G20 for years. Finally bought a G40 this Christmas. Best gift in years! Boy it’ll put a smile on your face shooting that lovely cannon. And hell yeah on 10mm price! It’s come down significantly. Check out the listings on ammograb, can be regularly found for 27 cents a round
To give you an idea about the velocity of the 10mm i was at the shooting range and had a small target that was held on by a clip at 50 ft it blew the target off using just standard ammo. That bullet is moooving!
Eric really what does what they say have to do with the XDM 10 mm as a firearm and the excellent Precision craftsmanship of that firearm comments and opinions should be based upon the gun itself
S&W certainly did build a 10mm autoloader: The 1006 and variants. I haven't seen one for sale in some time. They also did the S&W 610 revolver, which I think is still in production.

I have a glock 20. Amazing gun, good accuracy, great capacity for the 10mm and its very easy to carry and control. I carry it while I hunt, fish, or am otherwise outdoors.
I know it's a TOP 5, but I think that the Tanfoglio/EAA Witness chambered in 10mm deserves at least an Honorable Mention, similar capacity to the Glock, DA/SA trigger, good value for the base Witness models, comparable performance with the more expensive guns when you get the Match and Custom guns (with a definite price increase, but still less than high-end 1911s )
I built a Polymer 80 G20L with threaded barrel. Barrel length 6.610. With 11 grains Blue dot powder, 180 grain Speer Gold Dot 1325 fps. My favorite gun. Look out Mr. Piggie
I run a G30SF with a Storm Lake 10mm conversion barrel for my pocket carry gun. Not only do you get a fully supported barrel to run hot 10mm loads in, but you also have the ability to shoot 45 with the switch of a barrel.
May have already been mentioned here, but...........Smith and Wesson has made N frame revolvers in 10mm off and on since 1988 or so. S&W 610. Uses moon clips. .40sw can also be fired in it with moons. I love my 1989 vintage 6.5" Smith 610.

I own the Ruger SR 1911 in 10mm and love it!! Such a good looking, accurate shooting gun!! Make sure you buy powerful loads! Alot of the ammo from the big name brands are very light loads!!
Know two people that guide up here, and their rule is that any handgun caliber that begins in 4 is preferred. Many people are switching from .357 to .45acp because of the speed they can shoot too.
10mm. The gun that does everything including cook you breakfast... yet noone has one. I like all caliber guns but I feel 10mm has more TH-cam commandos than any other gun imo.
Iv yet to find someome who carries a 10mm. I carry 40 so does my brother and uncles. My father used to be a 9mm guy and now he loves 40. My brothers friends in the army love the 40sw. I dont see that many people with 9mms or 45s these days.

I've got one (G20) and it's VERY fun. No I don't carry it, it's a bit too big, but it's not meant to be a CC gun either. Backpacking, hiking, outdoors work, gimme the 10mm any day.
Once all the twinks jerked the cool out of having a DEagle, the hand-cannon crowd needed a semi to carpel tunnel with. The 10mm became the recipient of that attention.
The Ruger super redHawk all day. You can also shoot 40 S&W through it too. I absolutely love my Dads Super RedHawk 44 magnum. It would be a nice addition to my collection. Awesome video guys

EAA does a CZ clone in 10mm with their larger frame Witness line. Even have a hunter model with a long slide barrel/slide. Excellent pistol.

What I like about Rugers is that when you run out of rounds, you can always beat the krap out of the s.o.b with it, and it'll survive the beatings

I used to get into arguments all the time because they like our gun laws, our gun laws are kinda fine but I don't get how I can own a semi automatic 22lr rifle but not a 5.56 it's basically a 22 calibre bullet in a large case. If we want a semi automatic it's like trying to get a full automatic in the states but a lot harder, there's a misconception we can't own handguns but we can. They can only be a minimum length of 24 inches and fire 22lr. You can apply for a section 7.3 handgun license but you need to leave that at the range, if you touch *your own gun* without permission the range had the right to call the police and it could be took from you, then you'll loose everything. The country's going downhill, see the police done their job in the 90s we wouldn't have this issue. It's disgusting, maybe in a few years I'll try move to the states, I was originally supposed to move to Colorado but I couldn't wait 5 years to get in, I had to move pronto with how Brexit was shaping out.

The thing about XDs is that grip safety. I think it is a brilliant Ide to add a safety that automatically ND naturally is disengaged when you have a good grip on the gun.
You guys squibbed on this "top 5". How could you not mention the EAA WITNESS? That gun is a 10mm CZ clone and a best value which has been around for years.
At least the Tanfoglio/Witness has a fully supported chamber, and it's not advertised from the factory to not shoot full load 10mm (choug... choug... glock... choug...).

Not to mention the Glock won't handle full power loads... It's essentially a 40.
2 things:
1. the Ruger GP100 is available in 10mm for a much lighter and easy carry revolver. Also, the 10mm revolvers can be rechambered to shoot 10mm AMT Magnum, available from Doubletap ammo.
2. No one ever mentions Tanfoglio. Almost every one of their pistols from 3.4 inch barrel to 6 inch barrel both single and double action is made in 10mm. If you like a CZ 75 then you will like the Tanfoglios.
My wild card would have been the Tanfoglio Witness 10MM. CZ-75 ergonomics and 10MM power and double stack capacity.

@david USMC don't hunt down ammo for the 10 mm at stores. Use your "veteran" discount and shop online at the place that has the best 10mm ammo on the earth. Underwood and Fort Scott Munitions. One of the main issue's with the stuff you get instore also is the fact that the rounds are weakened down to the same ballistics as a 40 sw round. Why even own a 10 mm if you are just gonna shoot 40 SW performing ammo out of it?

The store i work at has sellier & bellot 10mm 180gr fmj for $18.99/box same for 45 acp same brand, actually not a bad price for either to be honest and this is in the occupied state in CA.
Sadly one day i think we will have to get our own “CA citizen” passports because well be so distanced from the rest of the country that a US passport may become foreign to us here.
I've been saying the 10MM is the best round to carry for years, since I started carrying. That model 20 Glock is definitely the way to go.
As someone who owned a S&W 610, one thing they didn't mention is that it uses fill moon clips which work better than speed loaders and quicker. It also uses the less expensive .40 round.
Owned XDM's and Glocks and IMHO A Glock Hasn't seen nor Shall it Ever See the Day that it Feels better than an XDM in the Hand.

Great video, but I couldn't disagree with you more about the Springfield XDM 10mm. I own one with a 4.5" barrel and it's my favorite pistol I've ever owned. And for $500 bucks you can't beat it imo.
The countless failures bad reviews and recalls say other wise there are more defected guns and risky guns from Springfield than good one and around the same price you can get a much better choice and isn’t prone too having issues like a Springfield

Yes you are correct in Alaska a lot of the guides have a Glock 20 10mm , a 12 gauge shotgun and or a 45-70 lol. I own all those my Glock 20 has the alpha wolf 6 inch barrel and I own the Glock 6 inch barrel. Marvelous

I picked myself up a glock 20 the other day. It's a gen 3sf and I absolutely love it. That being said I do like the springfeild xdm better when it comes to the grip and ergonomics. The reason why I went with the glock over the springfeild was bc I live in grizzly country and I will never have to worry about a glock not going off.
I like the 1911 platform with the 10 mm. It’s heavier and handles the recoil better, although, the Sig has a double/single action a safer hunting option.
The sprifield xd series is a love it or leave it type pistol. My xd9sc is a great gun and remarkably accurate for a 3" barrel. I shoot it fairly well. I enjoy my Springfield but I know not everyone does. I may pick up an xd 10mm when I get back in the market.
Hopefully you got back in and got ammo before this mess happened. 4.5 xdm is my favorite of the family

Unsupported chanbier. Wasn't a laughing matter for me when my g21 blew up. Fire formed the brass to the unsupported chamber. Blew straight down.

2) A 10mm Beretta M9A3 w/ Storm version carbine to match. A pig hunters dream.
3) A real 10mm AR glock mag fed. I know jr and aero make one but they are more pack guns.
4) Colt Python/Anaconda
5) Ruger 10/22 in 5.7x28. Solves the old 22wmr feeding problem.

I've had many - here's how I rank the ones I've had: Witness Steel Hunter, Springfield XDM, Witness Polymer full-sized, S&W 610, Colt Delta Elite and in last place is of course the Glock (had both 29 and 20). However, I have not had the Rock Island, the S&W 3rd Gens, 1911s, or the Sig P220. My next one will be the Rock Island double stack 6" which I would anticipate will likely be my favorite. If CMMG makes a delayed blowback Banshee "pistol" in 10mm that takes XDM mags, I will be on it like stink on poop.

I'm "Not a Glock" guy. Mine and 3 others consistently had issues in the academy. Regret having to sell my XDM to buy a Glock Blue label. The Glock armorer was always busy fixing stuff. No wonder the instructors were shooting 1911 style race guns.
I had a Springfield XD40 at one point. Fantastic pistol. Springfield gets forgotten sometimes and they shouldn't because they're great firearms.

Just like your opinion, I've handled a few 10MM but have only shot 1 which was a long slide Rock Island Armory 10MM. It shot well at 75 yards with 3 inch groups off hand using 180gr standard velocity hollow points (from GA Arms) and open sights (adjustable rear)
I just got my G40 problem solver... That thing is a laser. I'm not a superb shot, but can place a 2.5 inch group of 20 rounds at 28 yards with the vanilla trigger (which is pretty awful) and vanilla plastic open sights. Love it.

The unsupported chamber on the Glock is actually an issue. Try resizing some fired brass if you reload; it won't fit into a case gauge. Requires an aftermarket barrel.

I've reloaded 1000's of 10mm from my g20 and 40 with no issues.
Never had a problem reloading for my G20. There's an extra step involved removing the case bulge, but that takes a few seconds at most.
That Sig 220 in single action only is the best factory trigger and my favorite handgun I’ve ever owned. Love it!
I can remember back when the 44 Auto Mag, the L.A.R. Grizzly, and the Wildley were the "hot" automatic "magnum" pistols on the market. Part of the reason the 10mm took a nap was the issue some manufacturers had with frames and other components not being up to the pressures. The issue with the FBI was they wanted a medium frame in a recoil level acceptable for small framed agents to use, but they also wanted the capacity level close to the 9mm, but a wound factor closer to the 45acp. So the S&W 40 came out. Think of it as the "special" version of the 10mm.

To give you an idea about the velocity of the 10mm i was at the shooting range and had a small target that was held on by a clip at 50 ft it blew the target off using just standard ammo. That bullet is moooving!

S&W certainly did build a 10mm autoloader: The 1006 and variants. I haven't seen one for sale in some time.
They also did the S&W 610 revolver, which I think is still in production.
10 mm revolver can also shoot the 40 Smith & Wesson, cheaper for practicing
And now boys put something tangible behind your claims and test both XDM 10mm vs. Glock 10mm ideally throwing into it 1 or 2 extra unbiased shooters.

I have a glock 20. Amazing gun, good accuracy, great capacity for the 10mm and its very easy to carry and control. I carry it while I hunt, fish, or am otherwise outdoors.

I know it's a TOP 5, but I think that the Tanfoglio/EAA Witness chambered in 10mm deserves at least an Honorable Mention, similar capacity to the Glock, DA/SA trigger, good value for the base Witness models, comparable performance with the more expensive guns when you get the Match and Custom guns (with a definite price increase, but still less than high-end 1911s )

I built a Polymer 80 G20L with threaded barrel. Barrel length 6.610. With 11 grains Blue dot powder, 180 grain Speer Gold Dot 1325 fps. My favorite gun. Look out Mr. Piggie
I run a G30SF with a Storm Lake 10mm conversion barrel for my pocket carry gun. Not only do you get a fully supported barrel to run hot 10mm loads in, but you also have the ability to shoot 45 with the switch of a barrel.

May have already been mentioned here, but...........Smith and Wesson has made N frame revolvers in 10mm off and on since 1988 or so. S&W 610. Uses moon clips. .40sw can also be fired in it with moons. I love my 1989 vintage 6.5" Smith 610.

Know two people that guide up here, and their rule is that any handgun caliber that begins in 4 is preferred. Many people are switching from .357 to .45acp because of the speed they can shoot too.
10mm. The gun that does everything including cook you breakfast... yet noone has one. I like all caliber guns but I feel 10mm has more TH-cam commandos than any other gun imo.
Iv yet to find someome who carries a 10mm. I carry 40 so does my brother and uncles. My father used to be a 9mm guy and now he loves 40. My brothers friends in the army love the 40sw. I dont see that many people with 9mms or 45s these days.

10mm is more of a hunting/backwoods protection caliber than an everyday CC caliber, that's why.
I've got one (G20) and it's VERY fun. No I don't carry it, it's a bit too big, but it's not meant to be a CC gun either. Backpacking, hiking, outdoors work, gimme the 10mm any day.
Once all the twinks jerked the cool out of having a DEagle, the hand-cannon crowd needed a semi to carpel tunnel with. The 10mm became the recipient of that attention.
