I Love Oriental, it has to be one of my favorite places to be. Have stopped there many times. the inn and marina are great if you can get a slip. Keep up the fun videos and continue to enjoy your adventure.

Thank you, yes we agree, we had never even heard of Oriental before we started sailing, what a gem!! We were lucky that we were there mid-week and got a slip. What other places would you suggest we check out?

So much to see near there. You have to eat at M&M’s Cafe. Get the corn crab chowder.
Also sever great summer sailing camps for kids nearby. I went to Camp Don Lee in the late 70’s and my daughter went in the early 2000’s. Lots of great memories!

We’ll definitely check out M&M cafe, walked by a few times but timing was never right. Thanks.

@@LoriandDavesSailingAdventures Hope you love it! Also agree on some of the other suggestions. Bath is a place worth visiting. So is Bellhaven. We used to go to the River Forest Manor for brunch in the 80’s/early 90’s. I think it’s a wedding venue now. Still stunning architecture. Lots of gems in eastern NC that are a little off the map worth checking out.

Sorry we missed you at our home port. I see you found Marker #9 in Adams Creek, it is our favorite anchor spot.

We were so happy to find a safe spot to rest!! Maybe we can get together next time we are in the area. It will definitely be a yearly stop on our way north & south.

Nobody anchors in Adam's Creek lol. Usually go from Beaufort to Oriental in the same day. I say this because Oriental is the Home Port of my Bristol 32.

yes in a perfect world that is what we would have preferred. Any tips for that area since it's your home port? Thanks.

@@LoriandDavesSailingAdventures visiting surrounding towns such as Washington, Bath, Belhaven, Coinjock etc is interesting from a historical perspective. Blackbeard's old stomping grounds! I prefer the Virginia Cut over the Dismal Swamp Route which I found sketchy. I swear I pulled out half of the Dismal Swamp out of my strainer after one passage. Possibly an alligator in there as well (joking). But it's something every cruiser should experience at least once. Oriental is also rumored to be the halfway point between Norfolk and Florida on the ICW but I'm not sure if that's accurate lol
