    2:30 -2:45 I gotta say, I'm really impressed how they illustrated what depression may feel like for individuals with depression. I remember describing what I felt when I experienced depression during grief to my sister and friends, and described it along the lines of being covered in thick treacle or slime that is difficult to remove and made it impossible for me to move around easily and do everyday things - like I'm wading through the treacle or slime with great difficulty.
    I'm just watching the movie right now, and the moment I saw this at 2:30 I actually said out loud "omg! Thats EXACTLY what it felt like!"

    Honestly this is the darkest film I’ve ever seen. There is no redeeming qualities in anyone, which in 21st century film is a rarity. This makes you question your very own humanity and who you as person are. Gorgeous but so incredibly introspective that it’s anxiety inducing. Lars really hit this so far out.

    • @Elvings92
      @Elvings92 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      I would say it is not that dark. Yes is is about depression, so obviously it's not going to be a happy story. But it's also about how everyone deals with it in it's own way. The beauty of this movie lies in it's writing and stunning shots.

    • @StringSun

    The addition of Burial's "Forgive" gives Melancholia's opening sequence that 'heavy' feel that most people struggling with depression feel. Somehow this song perfectly blends the main characters' struggle with depression and the destruction of Earth in almost unreal way.

      depending on how massive it is, we might get torn up by tidal forces before even colliding. There would be huge earthquakes and things, and the earth would crumble into pieces. Its called the Roche limit. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roche_limit
      again (depending on how massive it is OR if its something that gives off lots of radiation) we might lose our atmosphere first, causing everyone to suffocate, and all of the water on the surface of the earth to boil, including all of the oceans. Either way, we probably wouldn't get to experience the explosive collision... maybe unless it happened REALLY fast? idk enough physics. To be killed by the effects of the impact itself, I imagine it would need to be on a mass scale closer to the moon or a very big asteroid rather than a gas giant.

    It’s scary to think that a planet bigger than are own can come an wipe us off of the face of the universe and the only signs of us that would be left is are satellites and other space debris that we’ve left over the past century. And not a sign of a plant,skeleton of a animal,or anything that consisted as life on this planet would be completely gone. But looking at this movie and how it ends make you think of how insignificant we are in a universe vastly bigger than are own little island called “earth”.
